How interesting -- he writes "The Wreck of the Titan" 14 years before the sinking of the Titanic, and, according to the description, rewrites the story after the sinking of the Titanic. His lucky break.

I started on The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf last night. I'm a few chapters into it so far and its a bit of a page turner.
Simran wrote: "I've just started
Hamlet today. I really enjoyed The Merchant of Venice last year so I have high hopes for this one !"Did you not have to read Hamlet at school, Simran? It was on the English syllabus in my final year and I can still remember memorising lots of quotes! Hamlet remains my favourite Shakespearean tragedy (with Othello), although it's so long that sitting through a performance can be tough unless it's a very good one. In the mid-1990s I saw it in Sydney with Richard Roxburgh as Hamlet and Geoffrey Rush as Horatio. It was the best production of Hamlet I've ever seen.
That sounds pretty creepy, Beth....
(but interesting!)

Gabriella wrote: "I'm reading Anne of Green Gables by L.m Montgomery. It's my first book by her."I envy you reading Anne of Green Gables for the first time. One of my favourite books and one of my favourite authors (I have read almost everything by L.M. Montgomery, and multiple times). How are you enjoying the book?
Last night I started a wonderful fairy-tale adaptation called Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale. I'm loving it!
@ Kim and Simran - Hamlet is glorious. I've never gotten to see it live, but the Derek Jacobi production is my favorite on video. Even lines you've heard a thousand times in and out of context sounded like they were being said for the first time. (Then of course there's the David Tennant ...)@ Gabriella - Gundula took the words right out of my, er, keyboard. Love Anne - my ultimate Comfort Read. One of them.
@ Lee - stupid system won't let me see individual book pages - which fairy tale does it take on? I love modern fairy tale adaptations.
Tracey, it's an adaptation of a Grimm's tale called "Maid Maleen". I loved the setting which was inspired by Medieval Mongolia.
I like the strong female protagonist!

I agree, Dashti was a wonderful heroine!

Just started The Shadow Prince by Terence Morgan, having really enjoyed his previous novel The Master of Bruges. On audio I have A Red Herring Without Mustard. Yay!!! Flavia!!
I'm in the process of trying to read White Heat, at the moment I'm unsure if I like it or not, but I'm leaning towards not. But it could be because I'm anticipating reading Winter Rose, so I'm just impatient for it to end.
Have you ever done that? Looked more forward to the next book than the one you're currently on?
Still working on The Night Strangers and just started Timeless which so far I'm loving it reminds me of the time travel books by Caroline B. Cooney

If I have a really "good" book waiting for me, I have very little patience for a "not-so-great" book that's in front of me. Unless I'm committed to the "so-so" book for a discussion, I jump to the better book.

I'm reading Green for Life which has inspired me to drink green smoothies for breakfast for the last few days.
Jeannette wrote: "Unless I'm committed to the "so-so" book for a discussion, I jump to the better book."I think that's what I'll probably end up doing. I figure it's pretty bad when I'd rather spend the day watching a "Top Shot" marathon on history channel with my husband than to read the book. *cringing* I can't believe I just admitted that.
I am currently reading Dreamers of the Day by Mary Doria Russell. Very good book. It is our Book Club book of the month.
I finished Timeless which I absolutely loved and still working on The Night Strangers and about to start The Scorpio Races
In addition to The Hobbit, which I am listening to on audiobook, I am reading When Will There Be Good News?. I love Kate Atkinson's writing. There's every chance I would find her shopping list an interesting read.
I just finished Diary of a Small Fish
by Pete Morin. I quite enjoyed it. Now I'm reading
A Heartbeat Away by Michael Palmer. Two nights in a row I've stayed up way too late because I couldn't stop reading!
I'm almost finished with
.It is definitely one of my favorites in the Love Finds You books. Maybe because I LOVE anything Amish or maybe because I live in Ohio?! Either way, it is a great story.
I spent yesterday with a migraine, so I could do nothing but read. No TV, no computer, but I can handle a book. As long as it's got no sound and no movement I'm good. (Really glad I got the eInk Kindle and not one of the color screen tablets). I'm rambling, so anyways...
I finished a novella, Winter Rose (great read), and an ARC novel To Take Her Pride (another great read). So there's definitely something to be said for skipping a not so great book (even if it is a big time publishing house) and trying another (even when they're an indie author and/or a smaller publisher).
So currently I'm reading...uh oh I need to go figure out what's next on my list.
I'm reading The Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales. The TV show Grimm is about start airing in Ireland for the 1st time this week. Since is supposed to be based on storylines from the book, I wanted to read it first before I start watching the series.
I'm starting Dangerous Favor, a historical romance, rated PG. :)
Glad to hear that you skipped ahead, Kristi! Good luck picking your next book.

Thanks Jeannette! I figured if I was only able to read then I might want to at least make sure I was enjoying what I was doing.
Right now, I'm reading Perfect on Paper: The (Mis)Adventures of Waverly Bryson, which is a fun, light read, and I like that it takes place in my native San Francisco. I'd also like to tell you about my new ebook, The Flower Bowl Spell, a page-turner novel about a smart urban witch, fairies, murder, and rock-n-roll. Thanks!
I just got The World of Downton Abbey from the library. It's a wonderful "picture" book, with behind-the-scenes stories, as well as biographical sketches of people who lived in the same time as the fictional cast.
I haven't read a Jennifer Crusie book in many years but picked up Maybe This Time for some light reading and thought it was cute. I like her spunky heroines.
Lee wrote: "I haven't read a Jennifer Crusie book in many years but picked up Maybe This Time for some light reading and thought it was cute. Jennie and Lucy March, both light romance writers, got together to do a series of podcasts that started out watching classic romantic comedies to try to figure out what made them tick, the idea being to sharpen their writing by trying to see what made great rom-coms great and not-great ones ... not. After they finished the original project they just kept going. They're huge fun to listen to - especially when one or both has had some wine ...
Lee wrote: "And now I think I'm gong to start S.J. Bolton's Now You See Me. I really like her writing."I love, love, love S.J. Bolton, Lee! I can't wait for her new one this coming June.
Been reading some good books this past week. Finished 2 YA books, The London Eye Mystery and All These Things I've Done(this one is actually more teen) and loved them both. I'm now reading When She Woke and can't wait to get back to it later today.
Been wicked crazy days at work, but tomorrow I'm starting Exposure. I'm hoping it's as humorous and light-hearted as I think it's going to be.
Lee wrote: "I haven't read a Jennifer Crusie book in many years but picked up Maybe This Time for some light reading and thought it was cute.
