Yay! I'm glad I am finally getting on the bandwagon with the series. :) (Except I'm not totally on it - loving the audio and all, ha!)
maybe I judged the HG audiobook prematurely. but it was my first one, and I think I was expecting something like the old radio shows, with different actors and sound effects and stuff. ^_^I'll try some audiobooks that I read first, then maybe I'll give HG another try.
Lyle all audiobooks are different - some books like Graceling have a full cast, others like Harry Potter the narrator reads all the parts and changes their voices for characters. I think perhaps since Hunger Games is first person the narrator does not have to change into other characters, so that didn't help me get into it. I think the Harry Potter audiobooks are always the best place to start IMO. Didn't you just add the first book in the Fever series to your tbr pile Lyle? That is a great series on audio as well.
Yeah. I saw Amanda adding the 4th one of the series and I went to check it out. Loks good, so now its on my tbr list.I'm still trying to find Bloody Jack and Dresden Files audiobooks. I think I'l start with those, to get a feel of audiobooks, before I jump straight to books I haven't read yet.
I think it's hard to like an audiobook when you've listened to really, really good ones. I know some are just ok, but when you get to the good ones they really set the bar - at least for me! An adult audiobook that I really liked was Beat the Reaper, but be forewarned, it's insane (and I shouldn't have liked it but I did).

Heidi recommended "Graceling," and I'll double that recommendation. :)
Boo Wendy boo! I am home from work today and was super excited to catch Lucky on General Hosptial, but NOOOOOOOO his character is not on today :( Bugger!
AH!!! That stinks! Now I don't have anything to look forward to! Don't you hate how they do that?!Do you get Soapnet? If so Lucky has a pretty awesome storyline right now with Jason Morgan (who I also love). I know that if you catch Monday's episode on Soapnet Saturday around 7pm you should see some Lucky. OR, you can always go to ABC Soaps.com you can watch episodes on your computer.
We downsized our cable so I no longer get soapnet, but I can watch it online thanks! p.s. I remember back in the day I used to tape all my soaps on old vhs tapes - good times, good times. I don't miss cable, but oh how I do miss my DVR :( *boo hoo*p.s.s. Jason is on today, so that should help. I remember when he used to be "normal", remember that???
I definitely remember that! My husband didn't watch back then and he always makes fun of Jason. He says that he's a terrible actor because he's so mechanical. I'm always telling him that that is the character. Jason Q was animated and funny, Jason M is closed off emotionally.I loved Jagger and Karen back then. I remember when Sonny first came on and he owned the strip club... man, that was a long time ago, lol.
I spaced this out, but for those looking to read some cozy mysteries on Listopia (on here) there is a list for best cozy mystery series. That is a great starting point because there are like 100 series on that list.
Heidi I wrote: ay! Another cozy mystery fan. I loved Truly Madly. I have only heard good things about the tatoo series, but I have not gotten to it yet.

Those are some of the first ones I've read but I really enjoyed them so I think I'll check out the list. I have quite a few series on my TBR list already, but I can always do for more :) Thanks.
Just finished
and liked it as much as
. Can't wait to read more by this author. p.s. I listened to both on audiobook and they were both excellent!
Oh man Heidi that makes me red in the face just thinking about it! Be prepared to like Rev even though you don't want to.

Heidi I wrote: "I'll try Brittany. On the other hand, I can't say I won't have a red face and look around suspiciously at other..."I can only imagine. I can't wait to catch up to you guys... one day! I'm still waiting for Z's book. I actually think the audio is currently available, but I'm not that brave.
AND since is the "when you're not reading YA" thread, I've been thinking it's about time for me to pick up Dreamfever again so I'm fresh into Mac's world before the Shadowfever release next month. I was pretty confused with everything that happened towards to end anyway. and oh that cliffhanger!! Plus I'm excited to see Barron's Tubthumping again!!
I'm going to pick up at series when I'm done with BDB... I have a feeling that I'll like that one too.

hmmm well, I can't be sure because I've only read 2 BDB books, but I personally think it's better. Also the series isn't finished. The books follow a pretty specific arc and I have so many unanswered questions. We will soon see. If anything you should consider yourself lucky because Fever series cliffhangers are insane!! At least this way you won't have to wait long.
Wendy wrote: "Do you think it's better then BDB?"It is not as cheesy as BDB, but they are both great series. Brittany is correct, Mac is super annoying in the first book, but she matures a lot throughout the series.
I wouldn't really put the Fever series and the BDB series on the same shelf. BDB is all about the smutty romance in a paranormal setting. The Fever series is more about the mystry in a paranormalish/fantasy setting. It is not very romantic but has some racey scenes.
Ah, I totally get that. I guess it was the covers and the fact that Borders has them both in the Romance section, lol.
Yeah i thought they were romance as well for the same reasons but if you are reading them for a romance fix you may be dissapointed.
I'm not normally into Romances. I was when I was younger, but haven't ventured into that section for years until I started reading BDB. So that they are not as romance-y is probably good.

Jaimie makes an excellent point. The fever series is less smut but lots of sexual tension. And I know that I haven't read our beloved Z's book yet, but Barrons is hotter than the Brothers (I think anyway)
oooh, that would be tough. I'm crazy about Z. He's up there with Ranger, second only to my darling Jamie Fraser.

I haven't read any of those books, but you should read the Fever series. Let us know when you pick it up. Then push through the first book and the 2nd book is where it actually gets good and our protag is much less annoying. Also I'm not usually the type of person who usually reads romance novels, so I'm sure that plays a role in my opinion. BDB is actually one of my firsts. Maybe I'll change my mind after reading Z's books, but until then I'm still for Barrons. I'm currently at the mercy of my library system. Not complaining, but a wee bit impatient.
I totally read smutty romance books and I think BDB and Fever are both excellent series they are just not really alike. They were both shelved in romance and I new that they were both fantasy/paranormal so I figured they would be similar but was pleasently suprised. I think the paperback covers for the Fever series was a double edged sword because the bookstores put them in the romance section when they don't really belong there however I think a lot of people that became super fans stumbled upon them there.
Spoiler*********Ok I skipped book 6 (McPhury)and I guess I missed a lot of side stories. Lash was killed by Qhuinn (sp?) and he is now a lesser (WTF???). Thor came back with some angel???
**Spoiler**See this is why you don't skip! McPhury's story is lame but she puts so many side stories in that you miss out! Pretty sure I covered them when I gave a breakdown for peep but Lash attacked JM in the showers and Qhuinn killed him in his defense (okay so he slit his throught - not really defensive but hey the ass hat found out about JM's past and had him bent over in the shower)The omega did some time warp crap and put a bit of himself in Lash before he was born so now he is like the only son of the big bad and has some unique lesser powers - like he can still do the deed. The angel basically dragged Thor back unwillingly from some forest where he had refused to eat and take any vamp blood trying to basically kill himself. Lassiter (?) did this trying to get back in good graces for some past deeds. Thor is still pretty messed up and JM is losing it.
Spoiler******Jaimie WTF?? I can't believe that whole Lash thing. Poor JM! It doesn't make sense that he can be a Lesser now to me, but what the heck I hate the lesser parts anyway!
***SpoilerYeah but it is kind of the same situation as JM/Darius mystery except the omega makes him his lil man. The lesser parts actually get better with Lash - he is like the funniest villian ever. I guess a lot of his humor is unintenional but Peep and I giggled quite a few times at his parts. Lash was so mean that it didn't make sense for him to be training with the brotherhood anyways. Now he is like the little thug in charge of the lessers. You missed a really disturbing scene when he goes and kills his whole family and sets them up in the dinning room like it was family night.
**SPOILER**Man, I hate Phury but I was so glad that I read it because so much happened in that book that had to do with JM. That shower scene when Lash attacks him and then bends him over and starts taking his pants down was so intense. That book had some of the very best Qhuinn/Blay/JM scenes. Like the kiss!
Spoiler*****Yes! That was another thing I missed - the kiss between Qhuinn and Blay. Again...WTF??? I may just check out McPhury's book and totally skip all the Phury parts!
**SPOILER**I would recommend you read Phury's book and skip his parts. I mean, you can get a rundown on that, like his overdose and stuff. But the other stuff was so good. The Qhuinn/Blay stuff was so good.
Yeah do that Heidi - anytime you see the Wizard you just skip ahead. His book really sets up the next two books as far as JM Blay and Qhuinn are concerned. Phury really isn't all that important in the whole scheme of things.
Yeah but the Chosen don't really matter much considering all the Brothers are mating up - their purpose was to breed and well ladies have not been producing. Now they hang out at camp Phury and burn toast.
