I do and yes I am.

I can't wait to see it!

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I just finished my artwork and my playlist... and the mix is ready on my laptop to be transferred to disc. Now I just need to get some discs so I can make the mixes. :) I'm kind of pleased with how everything turned out.

message 207: by [deleted user] (new)

I expect nothing less from you, dear Clark.

message 208: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Oof. Artwork. Don't expect much. I think I hit a creative high with my last one and even that was fuzzy and black and white.

message 209: by Janet (new)

Janet | 12 comments Jackie, my shebang is all set (sort of) but I am not goodread savvy & I can't figure out how to send you a message so I can get your address so I can send you my cd's. Help!

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments No problem, and good job!
I will message you with the info, Janet.

message 211: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Why do I still not know the theme? Was the theme "whatever you want" i the end? I've got tomorrow to work on it.

message 212: by [deleted user] (new)

Just about done with mine. Liner notes, track listing to be completed.

Jackie, can you go ahead and e-mail me your address? Thanks!

message 213: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments We're doing LINER NOTES?

message 214: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I saw Gretchen's at Jackie's place the other night. It's really cool. Made me wish I had participated.

message 215: by [deleted user] (new)

No, Sarah, I do liner notes. They're not required. I do liner notes because I'm obsessive like that.

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
The theme was clowns.

message 217: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Sally wrote: "The theme was clowns."

Clowns?
Uh oh...you watch out, or I'll send you a clown mix all of your own just to prove I can.

Gus, now I remember your notes from last spring... good stuff. Maybe I'll be inspired to do something similar.

message 218: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments My shebangs are ready to mail out... I'm considering including liner notes, myself just because. However, I'm leaning towards no liner notes cuz I'm trying to not be so anal-retentive about stuff and that would seem to fit right into the anal-retentive trait that I'm trying so hard to fight.

message 219: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
There had better not be enough clown songs in the universe for that. I'm terrified just thinking about it.

Heidi, do you remember in which thread last summer I told all about my mom's sex life?

Whoa, it is kind of eerie that this thread occurred (two c's and two r's?) exactly 40 weeks ago. Hmmmm.

message 223: by Heidi (last edited Apr 23, 2010 11:31AM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Sally, are you punchy right now (it's kinda cute!)?

message 224: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments That's what I thought too, but just checking. Thanks, Misha.

Clown theme:
Tears of a Clown
Send in the Clowns
Be A Clown (Judy Garland/Cole Porter)
Cathy's Clown (Everly Brothers)
The Bleedin Clown - Manu Chao
Ha Ha Said the Clown - The Yardbirds
You're Just About to Lose Your Clown - Ray Charles
Christy Brown A Clown Around Town - the Pogues
What Goes Around Comes Around - Michael Jackson

the creepy carnival song from the first Mr. Bungle album
Natalie Merchant's Carnival (stretching it, I know)
anything by Insane Clown Posse?

Might be able to get a few more out of jesters and jokers if those would be allowed...

message 225: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Jeessus Christo that is too much clown.

Punchy yes.

Pauncho the Clown no.

message 226: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm going to start a band called the Ass Clowns, by the way...

message 227: by [deleted user] (new)

What does the Micheal Jackson song have to do with clowns, Sarah Pi?

message 229: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Sally wrote: "What does the Micheal Jackson song have to do with clowns, Sarah Pi?"

What goes around comes around/he put you down now you're the clown

message 230: by [deleted user] (new)

Misha, there'd better be some Sleater-Kinney, that's all I'm sayin'.

message 231: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments That's an awesome theme. I'm looking forward to it!

Interesting. The first song on my disc is "Loppo, the Children's Happy Clown" by Shock Therapy.

But there's no theme overall.

That's it? For months now I've been hearing about how everyone is privy to intimate details about Sally's mom and that's it?! Man I'm torn between delight at finally being let in on it and disappointment that it wasn't something more sordid. I had it all built up in my mind.

smetchie | 4034 comments Sweet! I haven't even heard of most of those! I love new music!! I love Shebangs!!

message 238: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm still a firm believer that most of the best songs ever written have been written about girls. What else is there really?

message 239: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments The human condition?

message 240: by Zen (last edited Apr 28, 2010 07:56AM) (new)

Zen (zentea) | 515 comments Songs about boys.

the day you gave me a son / babyface
alexander the great / iron maiden
what's the frequency, kenneth? / r.e.m.
uncle jonny / the killers
Sally's Pigeons / Cyndi Lauper (yes, Sally was a guy in this case)

...and I know certain things have been said about the Beatles over here on TC, but how could you forget Bungalow Bill?

message 241: by [deleted user] (new)

Sarah Pi wrote: "The human condition?"

In my world, girls have always been the major component of the human condition.

message 242: by [deleted user] (new)

Zen wrote:"and I know certain things have been said about the Beatles over here on TC, but how could you forget Bungalow Bill?"

God knows I've tried. Him and Rocky Raccoon.

Josie Cotton wrote a couple of great songs about boys:

"He Could Be the One"
"Johnny Are You Queer?"

And Lucinda Williams:

"Changed the Locks"

message 243: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Great songs that are about boys...or do you specifically want love songs?

"Mannish Boy" - Muddy Waters
"Diamonds and Rust" - Joan Baez
"Coyote" - Joni Mitchell
"I Told Him My Dog Wouldn't Run" - Patty Larkin
"Kiss Me Deadly" - Lita Ford
"Beautiful Boy" - John Lennon
"Hey Hey My My" - Neil Young
"Dandy in the Underworld" - T Rex
"Powderfinger" - Neil Young
"The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" - The Band
"I Want A Little Sugar in My Bowl" - Nina Simone (Bessie Smith, etc.)
"Bobby McGee"

message 244: by Zen (new)

Zen (zentea) | 515 comments ... and my fave, Born Slippy / Underworld (included in my Shebangs (almost mail-able, folks)

I like your answer better than mine, Misha.

I'm so quick to go to the list.

THAT is a great song.

"I went to a party last Saturday night,
I didn't get laid, I got in a fight...
Uh huh, it ain't no big thing"

Genius, right?

And the video:

Forget everything I said about videos being the scourge of Western civilization.

message 247: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I don't do karaoke but I've always wanted to do that song. Is it on any of the guitar hero/band hero things? It should be.

Sarah Pi wrote: "I don't do karaoke but I've always wanted to do that song. Is it on any of the guitar hero/band hero things? It should be."

My son has two versions of Guitar Hero, but sadly it's on neither. No Joan Jett either. :(

message 249: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I think Joan Jett is crammed onto the end of one of the band-specific ones, like Aerosmith or Van Halen.

I've played Bad Reputation on one of them - maybe Rock Band? - at a friend's house. Fun drums for a non-drummer!

I'm glad to hear that you were looking forward to hearing about my mom's sex life, but saddened that this isn't enough. Is there anything else you'd like to know?
I once found out that one of the reasons for the demise of my parents' marriage, or the end of their sex life, was that my dad wanted blow jobs and my mom hated giving them.
This was before I was sure what exactly a blow job was.
