My guiltiest read has to be my weekly purchase of trash Magazines aka (US weekly, In Style) I always feel weird pulling them out on the subway. I once found out I wasn't the only one when I caught my co-worker sneakingly reading Cosmo under a Time life Magazine at work.

No contest for me - People Mag. Don't buy them except if there's an interesting looking cover story, and then only at Costco (30% off!), but it's the first thing I'll check when I go to the library. If they had US I'd check those out too!
Anne Rice. I still love Anne Rice. I've reread Cry to Heaven and the The Feast of All Saints at least four times each.
I always get a chuckle at women reading romance novels in public. You know the ones with Fabio on the cover haha
My guiltiest ever read was Jenna Jameson's autobiography, How to Make Love Like a Porn Star. I was more impressed with the fact that she managed to squeeze nearly 600 pages than the fact that she bothered to write this in the first place.
Yeah, it was pretty trashy. I read it. So what.

I did feel guilty reading Twilight.

One of my professors always tells the story of one of her undergrad sociology classes at Iowa where their assignment was to read a trashy romance novel in public and endure the mockery and the chuckles. It would be humiliating.

Gus, I often find myself wondering just how many of the words in that book are Jamesons and how many belong to Neil "Ghostwriter For The Stars" Strauss. My guiltiest read has to be all of the old Battle Tech and Mech Warrior scifi books that I read. I had forgotten just how into them I used to be until I was sorting through some boxes of books and found over five dozen of the books. What can I say? I like giant fighting robots. Someone has to protect us from the giant zombie squid.
Larry wrote: "I have never felt guilty about reading anything."I'm with you Larry. Even Laurell K. Hamilton and Harry Potter don't make me feel guilty. :)
THE SOOKIE STACKHOUSE NOVELS. a real guilty pleasure! i can't believe i am reading them, not great lit at all, but really enjoying them, and guilty because i am not doing what i need to be doing, because i am hooked. i've read 6 of the 8 books (in paperback at this time),and just started #7!

You can watch online as well...
Gary wrote: "the hbo 1st season is a gas! you must rent, buy,and watch. called TRUEBLOOD!"I read the series, and I've seen the show. I thought Bill was even more of a pansy on the show than he is in the books...
i watched the old movie FAREWELL TO ARMS with gary cooper and helen hayes. always wanted to see it,and i could download it free. it was great! and pretty good quality!
Sally wrote: "Would I still enjoy the books even if I've watched nearly all of season 1?"Yes, The books are better.
Ahhhhh! As if I needed more reasons to avoid the ocean! Thanks for that, Heather. ;)And I will concur with the Sookie Stackhouse love, though I have long since throttled any guilt I had about loving them.
I have no guilt about having read the Harry Potter, Sookie Stackhouse, His Dark Materials, or the Twilight series. I've even read (and shared) Midnight Sun.
I read Entertainment Weekly. Is it so wrong? Maybe.Books I've read about which I feel guilty...I can't think of any. They had a purpose at the time, I suppose.
I read my mom's too. The worst is when I discovered her code of stars to denote days they'd had sex.
Sally wrote: "I read my mom's too. The worst is when I discovered her code of stars to denote days they'd had sex. "I just chuckled so heartily, I had a headrush. :)
HAHHAHAAAAAHAHHA!!!
Wait. Code? Like...were there different codes for, ahem, different events, or just one code for sex?
Sally wrote: "I read my mom's too. The worst is when I discovered her code of stars to denote days they'd had sex. "I would think that the worst would be realizing that was the reason they made you go to bed early that night...
HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Man, some things should NOT be contemplated, like, EVER. Or you might end up writhing...
Right? I think that the # of stars rated her # of orgasms, but it could also be the # of times they "did it".
There were more symbols than just stars, I believe, sometimes.
Excuse me, I have to go do something completely wholesome and mind numbing now.
