how was "the summer i turned pretty"? i want to read it but its getting mixed reviews.

i liked this book. i've gone over the reviews after i finished reading this and while it is true that the main character was a bit immature at times, i guess it goes with the narrative of being the only girl and the youngest among their group. also, this book seemed more of a build up to the next ones. i would definitely read the next books to find out more about the story.
