30.3 - Donna Jo's task: Going My Way?
The first sentence in Option 4 says "on a plane or a train" but the list of words that can be in the book title doesn't include train. Is this an oversight or did you mean to leave it out?
Julia wrote: "The first sentence in Option 4 says "on a plane or a train" but the list of words that can be in the book title doesn't include train. Is this an oversight or did you mean to leave it out?"Thanks, Julia. It is an oversight on my part. I'll see that it gets added.
For option 3, if part of a title is in red, and part is in blue, but solid colours in both cases (for example this one:
) does that work or not?
Donna Jo wrote: "Julia wrote: "The first sentence in Option 4 says "on a plane or a train" but the list of words that can be in the book title doesn't include train. Is this an oversight or did you mean to leave i..."I see it's been added. Thanks!
Trish wrote: "For option 3, if part of a title is in red, and part is in blue, but solid colours in both cases (for example this one:

For Option 4 would the subtitle work? I am looking at The Lunatic Express: Discovering the World... via Its Most Dangerous Buses, Boats, Trains, and Planes which has a few of them in the subtitle.
Coralie wrote: "For Option 4 would the subtitle work? I am looking at The Lunatic Express: Discovering the World... via Its Most Dangerous Buses, Boats, Trains, and Planes which has a few of them in..."Sure, the subtitle is fine.
Hi!I've got many books that fit for Option 3, but I don't know if this one will work, as the title is repeated both in gray and red?

"Pia, I think you get the award for the most challenging decision for me to make. Did you sit up all night looking for this? (Just kidding, I know how book just fling themselves at you, saying "Pick me! Pick me!)
Anyway, go ahead and use this, but be sure to mention it was okayed when you post it.

Thanks! I bought the book for the Spring challenge and didn't have time to read it. And you're right, it just jumped at me!
Trish wrote: "How's this for option 3?
"Looks good. (Actually, I read this one several years ago. I hope you enjoy it.)
Does this one work for option 3 (red title)
? What I often think is red everyone else think is orange so I thought I'd better check
Andy wrote: "Does this one work for option 3 (red title)

Does it matter if the title words have cracks or are damanged as long as the words are all still one color?I'm thinking of using
but not sure if those affect anything. Thanks!
Cait wrote: "Does it matter if the title words have cracks or are damanged as long as the words are all still one color?I'm thinking of using

Carla wrote: "Will
work for the red title?Thanks!"
Carla, I can't get my image of the cover at a high enough magnification, but looks as if the title has a white or pink line in the middle of each letter so it won't work. If the cover of the book in your hand has solid red lettering it will. If it does, you will have to note that when you post
Can I check
for red title? It looks kind of pinkish on the screen, but the lettering on the book in my hand looks red to me.
LouLouReads wrote: "Can I check

Heya, for Option 5 how much does the book have to be "about" the country? Thinking of this book (its a bookclub read so trying to fit it) One of Us: The Story of Anders Breivik and the Massacre in Norway it works for option 3 as well but other books fit there.
Nikki wrote: "Heya, for Option 5 how much does the book have to be "about" the country? The standard is 50%, so we'll go with that. It looks like it should fit.

This is a good title--rule for 3. is that only the title need comply so you are okay.
Sorry I've taken so long to reply. I went out of town to my High School reunion and my computer refused to play with the motel wifi.Emurphy and Book Concierge, you are both good to go.
Donna said: When it comes down to it I'll go near or far, in a bus or a car, on a plane or a train. I'll hike or I'll bike, go by camel or horse. I just love to roam, so don't leave me at home. Even tho' I'm pressed for time,
Had to stop to cheer your rhyme.
Hope you enjoyed the 55th reunion despite the wifi!

Thanks, Jonquil, for taking time.
I'm always glad when people chime
In with their own verse.
They're often better and seldom worse.
Class reunion was interesting. The first one that I wasn't told I hadn't changed a bit.
For task #3, do you consider this blue?
On one of my screens it looks like a baby blue, on another it looks a tad more green/teal.
Thanks in advance!

I love to travel. In fact, some of my friends tease me, saying that all they have to do is stop the car, open the door, say "Do you want to ride along?" and I'll jump in and ask where we're going later. Now that I'm retired I can indulge in the love of travel a little more. This summer you can travel a little with me.
Pick two different options and read one book for each (two books total).
REQUIRED: State which options you chose when you post.
Option 1: In June I will be traveling to my old home town in Iowa. I'll be driving my sister to her class reunion (50th) and attending my own (55th). Read a book from one of the following lists: Popular Iowa Books or Books Set in Iowa. Some of these may not meet SRC guidelines, so choose wisely.
REQUIRED: State which list and on which page of the list your book can be found when you post.
Option 2: In July, my friend Mary will drive from her home in Indiana to Kansas to pick me up. Then we will travel to Colorado to pick up our friend Kathleen and go on to Santa Fe, New Mexico for most of a week at the opera. Read a book with an author whose first name is Mary, Kathleen, or Donna OR choose an author whose last name begins with the letter A, or L, or O. If using the first name, spellings must be exact. No variations allowed.
Option 3: In August, my brother, sister-in-law, her sister, and brother-in-law, and I are going on a tour of Scotland, England's Lakes District, and Ireland. In honor of the Union Jack, read a book with the title written in solid red OR white OR blue lettering. The title words should all be the same color (either red OR blue OR white). Only the title applies; subtitles, etc. may be different colors. When you post, link to book cover.
Examples:
Option 4: When it comes down to it I'll go near or far, in a bus or a car, on a plane or a train. I'll hike or I'll bike, go by camel or horse. I just love to roam, so don't leave me at home. Read a book with one of the following words in the title/subtitle: bus, car, automobile, plane, airplane, train, hike, bike, bicycle, camel, horse. Plurals, possessives, or -ing endings are allowed, but no other variations. No compound or embedded words. Series names will NOT work.
Option 5: Read a nonfiction book about a country you would like to visit (or that you'd like to visit again). The book may be about any time period in the country's history, but it cannot be about the country you live in currently. If the book takes place in several countries, it must be at least 50% about the place you'd like to visit.
REQUIRED: When you post, state the country you live in now and the name of the country you'd like to visit.
