It hurts my eyes too - feels too bright and I can't read the text as easy which creates more strain.
Merry Christmas tomorrow. I know many people are out celebrating and won't have time to see this but I still wish all to have a joyous Christmas with friends and family. And those that don't celebrate Christmas I still wish you to have a wonderful day!
I’m not sure if you ever heard about this story…Author (and television gameshow champion) Richard Brittain was arrested and charged after he drove to Scotland to attack a teenager who gave him a bad book review. He tracked her through Facebook and found her working in a supermarket, and then smashed a wine bottle over her head.
A few days ago he was sentenced to thirty months in prison.
People don’t really take it seriously when people say they’re threatened on Goodreads or other sites, but look what happened with this case!
I don't read many books that I review badly, but that really concerns me.I just finished the third installment of a fantastic serial End Game
by wonderful new author Tess Diamond. My Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Book reviewers need to start thinking of their books as a product, like a toaster or a car or a couch is a product. When people give other products bad reviews the creators don't travel to another country and try to murder the customers!
This week (I'm Ukrainian Catholic) we have Christmas again (and boy, does it annoy me when people call it "Orthodox Christmas!").I went to the supermarket today to buy some wine for Christmas Eve, and I got asked for ID to prove I was at least eighteen - our legal drinking age here. And it's not the first time that has happened recently.
Either every shop assistant here needs to go to the optometrist, or I need to throw away all my clothes and get a makeover that makes me look MUCH older. I think I'm almost old enough to be the checkout girl's mother!
It was so weird.

That would make me feel good. Being as I am in my 50s. lol
Good morning! Regarding being carded... I'm in my *coughs* and when/if I get carded to buy alcohol I just want to hug/kiss that person. Lol.
Regarding the psychotic author.... Holy smokes. I've received some bad reviews, one in which the reader was angry my characters didn't have sex, and that I dared to mention God, but not as a curse word. I just thanked her for her honesty and for taking the time TO read and write a review. And I asked her to consider me again. Hopefully she will.
I don't consider a bad review a bad thing. I prefer honesty over flattery....
Getting carded makes me laugh. I know I don't really look that young but I use it as a little pick me up for the day.
I got carded once in a liquor store (years ago) and the wife came running out from the back of the store and looked at me closely and started yelling at her husband for "hitting" on me. It was funny, but then again it wasn't...as I thought she might actually kill him. (BTW, I honestly don't think he was "hitting" on me.)

The unfortunate side of reviews is that businesses are starting to sue customers who leave bad reviews. Some states have laws designed to protect consumers from being intimidated or silenced by these types of lawsuits. There are even people who are saying to have an umbrella policy to cover a libel lawsuit.
It was the 40th anniversary of Agatha Christie's death a few days ago. I visited her house which is at Greenway, on the Dart, about 2 weeks ago, as a birthday treat with my son. The grounds, house and view to the Dart are absolutely beautiful, as you might imagine.

Next time I go to England I will not spend the whole time in London. I will explore the countryside. I just finished an historical romance set partly in Devonshire. Dark Before the Rising Sun
by Laurie McBain. It is a reissue full of romance, history, suspense and betrayal - great stuff. My Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Lizzie Made of 100% Porcelain wrote: "The weather is so bad lately I can hardly take my dog out."Very slippery and frosty/icy this morning on the Downs.
It's really cold out here, but at least the sun is out. My dogs are actually basking in the sun. Too cold for humans though...
One of my kids or his friends (we are talking 16 year olds) left our gate open and our dogs got out on a doggy adventure. They love to explore without their humans but I'm scared to death until we find them. They were a few blocks away and some kids had them trying to find their owners. Luckily my babies got home safe and sound.
