It's been a beautiful 71 here in S. Texas. We have only a couple more weeks and then back to reality in Iowa...where it's NOT close to 71! :)
I see that even the sun has the Valentine spirit! Never drink coffee at home, but strangely addicted to Costa coffee in cafes. So for a Valentine's Day treat, we're having Costa coffees on the sea front, (and probably a cake!) and then a walk on the beach. And it's sunny here! Have a lovely day everyone.
I have a ratty copy of the 1974 Betty Crocker's cookbook that was gifted to me many moons ago, and I was telling my daughters that some of the recipes just don't appear in modern cookbooks any more. "Like what?" one of them asked me. Last night I made one of them - creamed ham and egg over biscuits. It's funny how some recipes just go out of fashion.

You haven't had creamed ham on biscuits or toast? You make a milk sauce with a little mustard in it and pepper for seasoning and add cubed ham, hard boiled egg, and peas. I put it on biscuits, but you used to be able to get vol au vent pastry shells to put it on, and those were even better.
I think it sounds very tasty. Ham, bacon or other pork products always give flavour and are often put with peas. It was the biscuit bit which fooled me!
Hi everyone. Went to see Greenways yesterday, where Agatha Christie used to live, on the Dart. Unfortunately it was shut. However, drove down the little country lane by it and went to the River Dart. It was all extremely beautiful, even although we didn't see the house. Will have another go at it when it's open.

Hey, I know this is most probably a stupid question but with the Challenges and things (like the Over-in-a-flash) is there a specific way of updating your progress? Or do I just edit the 0/8 each time?
For the second time in a few days was thwarted by what I had intended to do. This time it would not have been so interesting as the Agatha Christie house, but was an appointment with a wood joiner to make a new wooden fire surround for the one which was burnt after Xmas. He managed to go out 5 minutes before we arrived. We drove home and went for a walk on the sea front instead. It was bitterly cold, but invigorating, and have arranged to drive back to see the wood joiner tomorrow.
Thealize, you may post each time you update a challenge or just update your original posts; whichever you prefer. If you do the later, however, it is nice if you post a comment telling us you updated, with the post number. A link to the post would be nice, too. Do you know how to do that?
Hi everyone! Hope you're all well. I gotta ask, cuz I know some of us like to cook. Does anyone have a recipe for gluten free pizza dough? My go to recipe site had nada. But I'd love to make it for the bf.
Sorry, Jewels. I haven't tried a gluten free one and the ones on the Internet that I've found look long and involved.
Hi everyone. Friend and daughter were coming round for lunch, but had to cancel because of illness. Had bought various goodies, including chocolate cake, so husband and I have rather overconsumed!
Hi everyone. Grey and gloomy here. Just off for walk on seafront with husband before the rain comes.
Jewels ♥ My Devastating Reads wrote: "Ah well. Shot in the dark anyway. The bf will have to go without."Hi Jewels. Why don't you just put whatever pizza topping you were going to use on a bed of potato, or rice? That way you don't have to worry about gluten. I always like anchovies, with onion, cheese, tomato and oregano.
I thought this was so funny and timely with Leonard Nimoy's death, I had to share how Canadians have been "Spocking Fives."http://io9.com/canadas-spocking-fives...
