That's the time when it's good to have a large one, such as Kim Kardashian's!

I'm always amazed when I hear of the stampedes and violence that hits some stores or malls on Black Friday, and thankful we've never had any problems like that where I am. No deal is worth maiming or killing over.
A friend and I did venture out for two stores on Thursday night and a few more on Friday and everyone was well-behaved and helpful. Well, except in the parking lots. What is with people not looking before they step off a curb (especially when they have small children in tow), back out of a stall, or whip around an aisle (inside or out)? We almost got creamed when a new-looking red whipped around a row of parked cars, in the wrong lane, without looking the direction she turned. Thankfully, friend did see her, and hit the breaks in time.

Ouch! Been there, done that. It's why I don't walk as much in winter. Any other season of the year, I try to do 3 miles a few times a week. Winter? Forget about it. Too treacherous, especially when people don't clear their walks as they are supposed to. Well, that and the extreme cold.
We actually got above 40F on Saturday, and even had some sun to go with it. Friend and I were out a few hours to finish setting up her lights, of which she has many.
Even before we went outside, we could hear what sounded like a loud car stereo, except all we could hear was mostly bass, which got annoying pretty fast. After listening to it about an hour, I suddenly realized it wasn't one of her neighbors being rude, or even a tailgate party from a nearby bowling alley, but the noise from Camp Randall Stadium, at least five miles away!
There was a BIG football game here this weekend, with a trip to the conference championships on the line, but even so we have never heard noise from the stadium at her house before. My place, yes, but I'm only a mile away, as the crow flies. We had hoped to be done by start of the game, but ended up missing most of the first quarter in order to finish connecting cords while it was daylight and we had nice weather -- Sunday was cold and windy again.
Once the game started we could tell when there was a big play by the crescendo of the crowd's cheering, and every now and then we could make out "Mel-viiiiin Gooor-don" from the announcer. That's our star running back, and a Heisman Trophy candidate. And yes, we did win, though it was much too close a game for our liking. ☺
Hope everyone else had a good weekend!

I believe I saw that Kim Kardashian balanced a champagne glass on her bottom the other day! Rather difficult to do I would have thought!

Sounds similar to our weather: 30 (24)F with mostly cloudy skies as of 2pm. Does not motivate one to get things done.

YES! ☺
Just kidding -- although tomorrow is to be a repeat of today's weather, rumor has it we may be up around 40 again for the weekend. In winter, you learn to be grateful for any day above freezing. :-\

I'm from Dallas too, so you know all about our up and down weather!
I don't mind the cold, as long as its not under 40, this may sound weird but I like the dressing up in winter. I like pulling out my thick scarves and boots:)

Lol hope you don't have to go out in the rain! Thunder is perfect for cozying up with a good book!

It is! Luckily, I don't have to go out today. Did that yesterday, in all the wet. Glad I'm snug and warm inside.

Growing up I never had gloves/mittens or scarves, just a jacket. We had snow occasionally but never for long.

If you think snow is bad in Britain, you should live in tn the southern US. We don't even see cold very much so if it snows people go crazy. We have very very little on had to help with it on the roads either. They throw a little sand on the bridges and that's about all. I am actually wearing a tank top and shorts right now and it's almost Christmas.

Bright and sunny here today, but cold.

My husband and I are living in Ontario now, but we were living in family housing at UBC in Vancouver one Christmas while he was working on his degree. Like Carol and Catherine said about England and California, it doesn't snow very often in Vancouver and there aren't any city snow plows to deal with it, so drivers just stay off the roads as much as possible. In UBC family housing, which were a series of row houses, only one family had a shovel, so they cleared a path to the parking lot for the rest of us. It was pretty hilarious compared with life in Ontario, where we expect big dumps of snow in the winter. The worst case scenario for us is ice storms and freezing rain that cuts the power.

Cathy, you're in Ontario as well? (because it's such a small place and all... lol). Did you get the blizzard a couple of weeks ago with 2 feet of snow one day, and 12° and melting the next too?

So you and Cathy are both in Ontario, and Lizzie and I, are, I think, both in Devon.

Your story and Cathy's about living in places that don't have the proper resources to deal with a lot of snow reminded me of a few years ago when the Green Bay Packers were in the Super Bowl in Texas -- and brought along the snow as well as a couple extra snow plows to make sure they could get to the game okay. ☺

BTW, we had an earthquake last night: epicenter Gilroy; 3.9 magnitude. Didn't last long; only about 4-5 seconds.

They did? LOL!

Speaking of games... Big Ten Championship? Talk about an embarassing first half. It's almost too painful to watch. :-(

I'm in Peterborough, about 1 1/2 hrs north of Toronto. Most of my family lives in Missisauga and/or Oakville though.

Where do the Green Bay Packers come from?

California sounds lovely, but not sure I could cope with the earthquake threat. Always worried when son lived in San Francisco, although he was never bothered about it.
At least, your windows are not broken. Keep safe, all of you over there.

Yes, Lizzie. I don't care for cold weather.
