message 2501: by Heather L (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) We had dense fog Saturday morning, and we saw a high around 50F (twice what it was the day before). 50F again Sunday, but rain all day and dense fog after dark. Rain stopped for a few hours overnight but started up again early this morning and is supposed to be changing over to snow midday, 2-3 inches expected.

Lizzie: Friends and I ordered pizza Saturday night, too (chicken alfredo with black olives). ☺

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments It is 49 degrees F here. Clear skies. No wind.

You all are making me crave pizza.

Heather L (wordtrix) Hehe...we're doing our best, Lisa Kay. ☺

Not long after I posted my previous message, I glanced towards the window to see that the rain had already changed to snow. Wow, that was fast! It was so warm over the weekend that it's not sticking to the roads yet, but sure is piling up on grassy surfaces. Still, I'd rather have two or three inches than what they've been getting up north and along the Great Lakes this month.

Carol Dobson | 402 comments Hate shopping for food. Delighted with the delivery system. Enjoy it for clothes though. Everything now seems to be online. Let's hope it never breaks down.

Elizabeth Carter (eecarter) | 250 comments It's mid to high 30C (in the 90s-F) here in Australia. Happy to exchange some heat for some little rain and cooler temperatures

It's raining heavily here. Have just got extremely wet on walk.

message 2508: by Heather L (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) A "balmy" 20F here this morning, but feels like 12F with the wind. Not supposed to get much warmer, either. On the up side, there was a gorgeous sunrise this morning -- we haven't seen the sun in days. The frosted shrubs and bushes along the roads look pretty, too.

message 2509: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments It is 47 degrees F here today, so down two. LOL! Still clear, blue skies. Let's hope I can get my tush in gear and get some holiday stuff done. Of course, there's the laundry, too... ugh.

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments Laundry? Blah!

Lizzie (lizzierw) | 2533 comments It has gotten to cold over here, but also I've come down with a cold, so that's not good :(

Phoenix (Online Elf) | 2061 comments Sorry, Lizzie. :o(

message 2513: by Lizzie (new)

Lizzie (lizzierw) | 2533 comments Tis not your fault :XD

Phoenix (Online Elf) | 2061 comments I know, but feel better soon, okay?

message 2515: by Lizzie (new)

Lizzie (lizzierw) | 2533 comments sorry just being silly :p.

Thank you :D

Carol Dobson | 402 comments Hi everyone. Grey and damp here again. Have also just had a cold, Lizzie. Always prefer though to have an illness now, rather than at Xmas, as I'm the one who does all the cooking etc.

Sonya Heaney Abigail wrote: "Lizzie, I read a book that was published a while ago (maybe early 80s?) that had an American living in London, and she commented that she couldn't get pizza delivery. Is that still the case?"

Goodness, no! The years I lived in London it was our tradition to get pizza delivered every Friday night! And that was fifteen(ish) years ago.
The night I broke my arm and dislocated my knee (at the same time!) and ended up in hospital... when I was released, I decided with my flatmate: we need pizza!

England is no different to the USA when it comes to things like that.

message 2518: by Sonya (new)

Sonya Heaney Total, stupid, pointless post here. But I'm a little traumatised. All four of our cats went to new homes in five days. I'm So Sad!

These two (photographed yesterday) went today - to the same home, so they'll be better than me! What am I going to do without pets?!

Would like to know how to put a photo here. Haven't got one for the moment, but curious to know how to do it.
Your photos seem to come out really well, Sonya.

How I do it:

1. Set up an account at photobucket.com
2. Then you click on the button that says something like “Upload”
3. Select your picture and upload it.
4. You should get an option like this:
 photo photobucket_zps77e07688.png
Choose option #3:
 photo photobucket-Copy_zps7bab5216.png

Copy and paste it into your post. :)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments So sorry, Sonya Heaney. They look so sweet; glad they are together.

message 2523: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments BTW, I have heard the same thing about no pizza delivery in England. Of course, it was decades ago that I heard this.

message 2524: by Heather L (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) FYI, you can also upload pics to your account here under your profile (I have about a dozen uploaded, and I don't know if there is a limit), then link to that photo.

Lizzie, hope you're feeling better soon. I came down with a cold at Halloween, and have been coughing again the past week. Sucking in that frigid, cold air every time I have to go out doesn't help. Makes me want to hibernate until April.

Sonya: Aww... At least the kitties are all going to good homes. A friend adopted a lynx siamese kitten over the weekend. He has the bluest eyes and sweetest little face, and he's such a cuddler.

Celebrating here with good old British fish and chips!

That was also going to be a series on the TV. I remember seeing the first one and then can't remember it after that, so perhaps it didn't carry on.

Lizzie (lizzierw) | 2533 comments We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in the Uk, we just have to wait till Christmas lol

message 2533: by Carol (new)

Carol Dobson | 402 comments Black Friday has, I gather, been a long tradition in the US. This year it has well and truly transplanted itself to Britain, and there have been disgraceful scenes at many shops here. It will be interesting to see if figures for sales are increased by having the sales early, or whether it will just even out over the 'festive' season.

message 2534: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments I hate Black Friday!

CD {Boulder Blvd} (boulderblvd) | 1404 comments Years ago the "girls" in our family would make a day of Black Friday and it was great. It was crowded, but the atmosphere was more fun and festive. And then it just changed and became an ordeal. We stopped going and now it's more like avoidance. None of us like to "shop" anymore, even when it's not Black Friday. Did we change or did "shopping" change?

message 2538: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Probably both. **sigh**

message 2539: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments I have always hated crowds when shopping. In fact, I really don't like shopping much at all. But in order to get what I want I must!

message 2540: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Sharpe (abigailsharpe) | 2010 comments I went to an office supply store to buy lots of paper at a very cheap price. But that was today. And that's just about as adventurous as I'll get.

message 2541: by Carol (new)

Carol Dobson | 402 comments I love buying online now. It seems weird when you don't have to wrap the present any more, or take it to the Post Office. Wait til we have all these drones flying around delivering parcels, like Amazon has been suggesting! I can't see how that would work. You would think it could cause accidents, in a variety of ways.

Lizzie (lizzierw) | 2533 comments Is that snow Pamela?.

message 2550: by Carol (new)

Carol Dobson | 402 comments The problem when very cold, snowy weather comes here to Britain, we are not prepared for it. It's very expensive to have all the salt and grit needed, and the lorries to do it, and so we don't cope all that well, as we just hope that it won't happen.
