Sonya, something to keep in mind with the kittens... If a kitten doesn't have a companion 1) they are more likely to cause mischief and 2) you essentially become the other cat, needing to constantly entertain and pay attention to the one cat. With two, they pretty much entertain and groom each other. Good luck! ,-)
I was always more a cat person too, then I decided dogs were cool too once I had one of my own (whereas before, the family dogs were always dad's dog, or mom's dog, and didn't pay attention to me, lol). I still love the kitties, but if asked to choose just one in a pinch, it'd prolly be a dog. Big dog though, I'm not super fond of little dogs. They're ok, but I like the big ones. Now if I could have a cat the size of a big dog... that would be awesome!
Not sure if it would ever happen, but I've always wanted a Maine Coon Cat. Not quite the size of a big dog, but definitely bigger than some small dogs out there.

There to cute, I'm not a cat person either, but I have 3 of then... :-)
Hi everyone. Wet and chilly here which seems suitably sombre for the day to commemorate the Armistice of WW1. Everyone wearing poppies when I walked with husband on the seafront. The poppy installation by the Tower of London will stay there a few days longer, as so many people want to see it. Then it will be removed as the artist wanted its removal to suggest the taking of the lives.
A gray and gloomy day here--not to mention COLD. We've had light rain and flurries, but at least it isn't the foot of snow as seen in the northern part of the state. So not ready for that!

My parents went to London last month and shown me the pictures they took of the poppies, what a fantastic sight. I wish I was there.

What beautiful pictures. It looks like a living stream of red.
Lisa Kay – I wish I was in London this year (I used to live there). What many people don’t realise is that those poppies are also for soldiers from the Commonwealth – countries like Australia - not just Britain. So people I’m related to have a poppy there…It would be amazing to see...
Our kitten situation has changed a bit. We’re almost certainly keeping one, but I’m pressuring everyone into keeping the two without homes! I didn’t realise how ignorant people were about strays until this happened. Everyone has this idea you can just dump them at the vet across the road and everything will be fine…!!!!Here is the shy one learning to eat this afternoon (and if you look at the back you can see another shy one hiding!):

I used to laugh at idiots who loved cats, but now here I am, obsessing about them and going to the supermarket only for cat food! I should laugh at me!
I work for a charity shop that supports Cats, its disgusting how we've rescued so many cats from abandonment.
There's hundreds of cats disappearing here at the moment. Some have returned home and have clearly been tortured. In the last 8 months almost 200 cats in Ipswich have gone missing and in one small area in Northampton 30 have disappeared in the last 6 months. Most thefts seem to take place near the A14. One idea for the motive is that of dog fighting, where the cats might be being used to make the dogs angry.

The weather conditions in the US don't seem to have been as bad as they were reported to be. Was very worried about son's trip from Ohio to Connecticut, but he had no problem at all. Think I'm more concerned about what he is doing because he is so far away. Parents have to let go, but it's more easy to do that if children are living nearby. There is always the worry that if there is a problem it is impossible to get there quickly.
These are rather negative thoughts, sorry everyone, will switch back to positive!

Carol wrote: "Just seen the news, and it seems to be appalling weather in the middle of the US. Brr!"Yes, they said on the news that 42 of the 50 states are seeing unusually cold and snowy weather for this early in November, and where you are depends on how bad it is. Naturally, mountain areas are heavily impacted, as are states along the Great Lakes. Across the northern parts of states from Minnesota to Ohio, people have seen a foot or more of snow, and it's cold almost everywhere -- often with below freezing temps.
Most places up north saw more than a foot of snow this week, while here in the southern part of Wis. we've only had flurries or a light dusting. Gile, Wisconsin on the otherhand has had more than 50 inches of snow since Monday, possibly a state record. I had never heard of this town before, but apparently it's near the Wis/Mich border ("technically" a part of Montreal, WI) and gets a lot of lake effect snow, with a yearly average of 240 inches. That's way too much snow! The most we've seen in one year in the Madison area is just over 100 inches several years ago, and I hope I never see that record fall.
Right now it's 25F where I am with a windchill of only 16F. We've had flurries or light snow showers off and on the last three days with winds 8-20mph and partly cloudy skies. They're saying we could see a couple inches on the ground Saturday night.

I'm not a cat person either (dogs all the way) but I can see why you would want to keep them!
