The Café
Completely off-subject, but I wanted to state: I'm babysitting for a friend, starving, and joined weight watchers a week ago. She has weird food.
I'm with you Melissa. As a kid, I remember never really going for those cereals with marshmallows. Not sure why. Even now, I don't get cereals such as those.
Well, they are like dehydrated marshmallows, aren't they? Last I had them, which was decades ago. Maybe they've improved.
My daughter loves Lucky Charms. I do to but I know I shouldn't. I should love all those wonderfully healthy things that nourish the body. Veggies, whole grains, stuff like that.
**hee hee** I love cereal. Even oatmeal. I eat healthy ones, but I don't pass up Rice Krispies, especially Rick Krispie Treats!!
Those look really good, Lisa K!! Haven't had them in years. I like the healthy cereal too and I love Raisin Bran, wished they had them in Spain :(!
I used to like Lucky Charms and another sugary marshmallow cereal as a kid, but can't eat them now. Just the thought turns my stomach. Not that big a fan of Rice Krispies or the treats anymore, either. Nowadays I usually either get oatmeal or Special K.
Thank you Lisa Kay for finding this board. I am shocked. I wonder if a man looking at the same board would have the thoughts we had?
Yes, and that isn't the only Rick Krispie board! Amazing what people have done to a simple, easy to make dessert. LMBO, Sunny☼! Probably not. ☺
Goodreads will be down for maintenance tonight starting at 9 PM PST (midnight EST) for a large database migration. The outage will be about 2.5 hours, but they plan to be get a lot of work done!
Plan your time accordingly!

Oh I love these! I used to gorge on them. Lol Been a long time since I've had them.
For those of you that have read Tracy Brogan's Crazy Little Thing, she was kind enough to respond to some questions about her writing process. You can read them on my blog: http://drafttonovel.blogspot.com
I am finding these last days of August so melancholy. Summer soon to be over, school routines kicking in..a quiet sadness in the air... Anyone else?
Not really for me. I'm feeling a bit of relief that school is back. Keep having the ideas that I'll start doing this or that now that school is in session.
OMG Yay for school and routine again! But I'm still feeling my way around, since my oldest started middle school and we're still getting used to our new schedule.
Sigh.... Has anyone else been experiencing difficulties maneuvering around the site in the past 18 hours or so? I had NO problems early yesterday afternoon, but since last night...nightmare! I can get into discussions, but I can't "add book/author" links, or hit "reply" to comment on something someone else has said (I have to C&P and/or use html). I cannot edit. I cannot click on ANYTHING in the sidebar, which means I can't update what I'm reading/have finished reading. And, maybe most irritating, when I post messages it kicks me out of the discussion so that I have to backspace to see if it actually posted.
There was a similar problem back in June that took two days to fix. That time I could not access discussions at all, except through direct email links. I did send an email to support last night (even if I didn't get a reply back until almost a week after the problem last time around), and hope others have, too. It's irritating not being able to access other parts of the site.
Heather L wrote: "Sigh.... Has anyone else been experiencing difficulties maneuvering around the site in the past 18 hours or so?"Hmmm... no, Heather. But then, I just got on about 30 minutes ago. Maybe it is fixed now.
Listening to and reading...
That is a long book Lisa Kay, I like the idea of listening to it. I really enjoyed it. How are you liking it?
Lisa Kay: Nope, not fixed, but I did just see a message in another group that GR will be down for maintenance for about 30 minutes late tonight.
Pamela: Yes, it seems to have been fixed since 5pm (CT). Yay! I was finally able to update books read and my challenge meter (now 6 books ahead!).
Seems like I haven't been reading as much lately. I have been going to the pool and working out and doing other stuff so I haven't been on here as much either. But I miss everyone and will still try to get on here everyday.
I haven't been reading as much lately, either. I've been watching T.V. I found this series entitled Bunheads that I really enjoyed. Unfortunately, the series has been cancelled; however, the first season (18 episodes) is free on Amazon Prime.
There's been so much going on around here my reading time has been seriously impacted. I have a bunch of books stacked up that all look really good but I just can't seem to find the time for them. :(
This week has officially begun all the season premieres of my shows, so that leaves little time for me to read during the evenings/nights. And that's not even counting my sports teams season starting which is soon. I'm going to be soooo behind in my reading now. Lol
Leslie, I know your pain, LOL. While I can (sort of) read or work on crafts during a football game, I have read a lot less this week with all the season premieres. I have a major bone to pick with the writers, too. So far three of the five premieres I've seen have ended with "to be continued." For the first episode! So rude, lol!

I remember when we were younger we started the end of August, but we went for like 2 days then we were out for Labor Day weekend. It worked out good because you got your books and stuff the first couple of days but the real "work" didn't start until after the Holiday. We always got out about the middle to end of May depending on how many snow days we had. But since there was no air conditioning if the temperature hit 100 degrees we got sent home!
