Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments Wow, I won that one book Fairies gone wild from someone's website recently (see msg 97) and now I've won another Wicked Intentions by Elizabeth Hoyt from the GR's giveaways. I am soooooooooo excited!

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments I hope it does :)

Julianna (authorjuliannad) | 671 comments Congrats, Pamela! I didn't realize EH had a giveaway for her new book or I would have entered. I love her work.:-)

Since the RRRC group started their "Ask an Author, Win a Book" forum, I've won two of the books offered which was quite exciting since I rarely win anything. They both look really good. Now I just need to find time to read them.

They had 15 winners in the EH giveaway. I wander over there and enter a bunch every now and then. I really love EH and would have bought that one eventually anyway so its a bonus that it's one I really wanted to read.

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments Cooking beef stew tonight. Not one of my strong dishes but it sure smells good.

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments Hello, everyone. Just thought I'd pop in and see if anyone is out there :)

Have a wonderful day. It's going to be another scorcher here today.

Melanie♥ (meliaann) | 414 comments Taking my husband to the airport in a bit. He's headed to New Orleans for business. When he returns on Thursday we're off to deliver our daughter to Texas Tech to check into her dorm room...it's a long drive from Houston to Lubbock!!
Heat here is scorching, too!

Yep, I imagine it is a scorcher there. My dad and brothers live in Houston area.

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments My dearest daughter will be returning to school this week. We went to open house and she likes her teacher. Her teacher has a ferret which should endear her to many.

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments 4th day of school and my daughter is home sick :(

headache, tummy ache, sore throat... yuck!

message 113: by Melanie♥ (new)

Melanie♥ (meliaann) | 414 comments Pamela, No complaints, now. I just dropped my baby girl off at college and I wish she was home sick 'cause I miss her already!!

message 114: by Fran (new)

Fran | 88 comments Melanie, I still remember when my Mom dropped me at College- she cried when she left me and told me much later that she cried all the way home (3 hours). Now I have a 16 year old and although I have 2 years to go, I can sympathize!

Julianna (authorjuliannad) | 671 comments Pamela(AllHoney) wrote: "4th day of school and my daughter is home sick :(

I call it the annual back-to-school bug. My daughter gets it every year and was home all last week with it. Ugh! I think the kids are technically not supposed to miss any more than 10 days of school the whole year, and she already used up half of it in the first two weeks of school.:-(

message 116: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments Well, she's getting some of her energy back already so maybe it was just some 24 hr thingy. She hasn't ran a fever at all so...

message 117: by Melanie♥ (new)

Melanie♥ (meliaann) | 414 comments When mine were that age...no fever=back they go!

message 118: by Julianna (new)

Julianna (authorjuliannad) | 671 comments Well, that's good. Mine had a 100+ temp all week. Here's hoping yours will get over it quickly.

Fran, My mother told me she did the same thing with me. She cried all the way home in the car! Guess it's just a mom thing =)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments My baby seems to be fine... Griping and complaining about being bored. She is well....

Back to school tomorrow :)

message 121: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments Finally got us some rain. Hubby will be out mowing the grass tomorrow. haha

The grass was brown and crunchy. It looks greener already.

Daughter wanting to get into band and cheerleading this year. She did cheerleading last year and I got all kinds of compliments telling me she's a natural. Band is a new thing and I'm concerned about that. She wants to try the trumpet. Maybe she'll surprise me and take right to it.

message 122: by Melanie♥ (new)

Melanie♥ (meliaann) | 414 comments My daughter found band to be an amazing experience. She made a wonderful group of friends that she has stayed close with thru middle and high school.
She did gymnastics from age 3 to 11, but had to quit after a broken ankle (injury unrelated to gymnastics, believe it or not!)
Marching band in our high school proved to be a wonderful opportunity for her. Go Band!

message 123: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments I hope my daughter loves it but she doesn't have a lot of staying power. But I want her to try whatever she wants to find out what she does like. I didn't get to do anything back in my school days but I want her to have the opportunities I didn't have. I just don't want to be one of those mothers who push their children into stuff they really don't want to do.

message 124: by Melanie♥ (new)

Melanie♥ (meliaann) | 414 comments Hey, we tried violin, piano, and soccer before she found band and lacrosse. It's good to let them try different things =)

message 125: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments Happy Labor Day, everyone! Not doing much here but we do have a few T-bones marinating for the grill later.

message 126: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments I'm in a romantic suspense mood lately. I can't seem to get into anything else. It seems I go through phases where I can only read a certain genre for a while and right now it R/S. Does anyone else have this problem?

message 127: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Naughty Co-Mod (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 1922 comments That does happen to be, too. Pamela. In the words of my favorite OCD tv hero, Mr. Monk, it's a blessing, and a curse. LOL It's a blessing because it helps me clear off my TBR pile, but a curse because I run out of things to read and end up buying more to feed my need.

message 128: by Julianna (new)

Julianna (authorjuliannad) | 671 comments Actually, I'm just the opposite. I can't read more than a couple of books in a row in the same genre, time period, or by the same author without getting bored and needing to mix it up.:-)

message 129: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Naughty Co-Mod (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 1922 comments Julie, I actually went through about a 2-3 week period recently where I did exactly that. I wouldn't allow myself to read more than 1 book per genre back to back. It helped me clear the cobwebs and I was able to get my backlog of reviews caught up to.

So, I guess I'm a little of both.

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments I am filled with joy that all the Chilean miners were rescued sucessfully. My continued prayers for the rescue workers that need to come back up.

message 131: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Naughty Co-Mod (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 1922 comments I'll add my prayers to yours, Pamela. I'm so, so glad that this seems to be ending happily.

message 132: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments It's nice to get some good news sometimes :)

Tired of always hearing how the world is so messed up.

message 133: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments My family left me :(

I laid down earlier and hubby left with daughter to take her friends home. So I got up and started dinner 'cause they wouldn't be long. Its been almost 2 hrs and dinner is ready. Where is my family? I know its nothing. Hubby probably took daughter to town for ice cream or something but dinner is ready and no one here to eat it. :(

message 134: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Naughty Co-Mod (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 1922 comments I'll come over, Pamela! What are we having :)

message 135: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments haha, just hamburger helper and brussell sprouts :)

I found em. They are still over daughter's friend's house.
