Doesn't that apply to just about everyone, LK? I thought ladybugs usually came out in the spring, though.

LOL! Very true. ☺ Nope; they are selling them in packs now at the nursery down the street. So sweet.
There are good Ladybugs and there are bad ones. Good ones eat the aphids, bad ones eat all the things you want to keep :DDDDLisa, it was a great day for a wedding, the weather was perfect, congrats to your family :)
Happy Daylight Savings Time, people. Did you remember to set your clocks back for those who are affected?
Lisa, you had me tearing up! Mazel tov to your son and new daughter. I bet the wedding was spectacular.I don't understand Trunk or Treat. Why mess with tradition? Are the houses really a problem? Though I do understand if it's for secular reasons.

We are smack dob in the middle of the bible belt here and the churches are offering a "safe" alternative to treat or treating. Personally, I think its a way to promote their church. But I'm not getting into the whole religion discussion. Anyway, there are often other activities at some places that attract kids. Of course, we still have the house to house thing too. I think the media has scared some families and they prefer the crowded areas instead of the quieter neighborhoods.
Around here they do it because unless you go into one of those new cookie cutter housing developments, all the houses are few and far between, and most of em set 50 yards off the road or more. On a 5 mile stretch of road you might have 2 or 3 houses participating. So it's more of a safety and convenience thing. Now the towns still do the traditional t or t where the houses are all real close together and there are sidewalks, and street lights and stuff, but not out here in the boonies lol.
Well, I'm rural. I don't live in town so we have to go into town and it's about 7 miles. Then we have our choice of neighborhoods. hehe
Melissa wrote: "LK, what is an aphid?"Here is what Wiki has to say about aphids: basically also known as plant lice and in Britain and the Commonwealth as greenflies, blackflies or whiteflies. They love roses, from what I understand.

I'm just getting into gardening, now that I've gone vegan and am retired. My mother could grow anything, anywhere...she had ten green thumbs. I have ten brown ones, so have to work at it. LOL!

I'm not sure when trunk or treat started, up until last year my daughter was with my ex every Holloween so I didn't do the trick or treating. Last year and this year she was with me and that's where we went. In our (small) town it is done in the park and the city & the local businesses host it. Its not a bad thing... we went to one place got candy, roasted hotdogs, had hot chocolate, costume contests and play houses and games all in one place. It was like a holloween fair.
Yeah. We had very few trick-or-treaters... and when we did they came in large groups. Most had been to a party earlier. A fair in the park sounds nice.

Aphids do love roses, basically they are sap sucking teeny tiny bugs with wings. They don't get scared and fly away though, they are the tough gangland type with street cred. Round here they are green. To get rid of them you have to use a pest oil (oil & pyrethrum mix) or hit them with extreme predjuice with an insecticide.
Hi everyone, The wedding went off fantastically.... a truly joyous occasion and now the lovebirds are on the way to their honeymoon in The Maldives.
I will post a couple of pictures when i get organised.

Good to hear! Looking forward to pics ☺
I was just thinking about rereading a book I liked and when I went looking it up to try to find it I found out it was part of a series! I feel that it wouldn't be right if I didn't read the entire series now!
Thanks Pamela! I think I was feeling a little guilty for stretching my book budget! lol! Here's hoping the library has them?
Just got back from "Tell me a Story Night" at my kid's school. Its a lot of fun! Teachers act out the book while another teacher reads the story to the kids. You get to pick from like 10 different classrooms to go to different books. They had some really cute books!
I have that on the list of movies I want to see when it hits DVD. If I go to a movie theater it usually involves a movie my kids want to see.
Holly, that's one of many out right now I would like to see, but like Pamela and Melissa, probably won't get to until it hits DVD.
Holly wrote: "Went to see the new movie, 'Lincoln', this past weekend. It was terrific! Has anyone else seen it?"Saw the trailer for that one, Holly. It does look good!
Lincoln is definitely worth it. There are some others out now, the one about FDR, can't think of the name of it, that I want to see too. Anna Karena looked good in the previews and so did the new Bond. It's so great when there are some 'adult' movies to go see or rent. What are you guys renting now that I missed.
Anna Karenina is one I would like to see, too, but it isn't even playing in my state. I think we're going to Breaking Dawn, part2 this weekend.
Lisa Kay wrote: "I've watched Brave twice now. So well done by Pixar. Clever people."I haven't seen it yet but looking forward to it.
Love Brave. Love How To Train Your Dragon (from last year). Looking forward to The Guardians, too. Saw Wreck-It Ralph on Tuesday (yeah, I'm one of those I-see-a-movie-if-the-kids-can-come-too people) and liked it. I worked in an arcade for three years in college so it was fun to see what might have happened when the lights went out.
The ONLY movies I see nowadays are with my daughter and hubby and therefore must be family friendly. Saw Wreck it Ralph not long ago. Loved it!
We really liked How to Train Your Dragon, and Wreck it Ralph is definatly on our list. My kids love arcade games so they are really looking forward to it.
We watched Curious George & Lion King 2 1/2 last night....it was great! We were so tired a bit cute & funny was just what we needed to watch!
