Peacocks are noisy though. But way pretty, I'd like to have one just strutting around my yard, I'll get him a girlfriend too lol :)
Pamela, it is amazing all of the useless info we collect in our brains isn't it? But if you are having a Canada Geese problem here is one solution. Get some swans somewhere..One think I do not have is farm animals. How is the capture of the tiny beasties coming? Is bacon still sounding more and more delicious?
Kit, so glad they would have a mate, but what do you do with the poop? Is it good for your roses? I read it was in some romance or another but how reliable that info is I really question.
Lol I don't know. When we had poultry, they just roamed around the property. We have 6 acres, so poo build-up wasn't really a problem. :)
Sunny, hubby has the pen where the piggies are fixed, I hope. I haven't had to go chase them for a few days. I really don't have problems with the wildlife around here now. We had some chicks once that we think were attacked by hawks or something. But no chicks now. Hubby wants to get some but that's his problem ☺
Twenty or so years ago my husband and I were in Banff, Alberta downtown when a moose just ambled by in the city park. I had never seen a moose before -- only pictures. My jaw dropped. Man, that thing was HUGE! A moose is much, much bigger than a horse!

I'd love to see a moose too! My mum says she's seen 'em when she used to be married to my step-dad, they took a couple fishing trips up there to Canada to a friend's cabin up in the wilderness past Sault Ste. Marie somewhere, idk where, I never got to go. But they said it was cool.Tried to have baby ducks, they lived up on the back porch for awhile with a box to shelter in and a kiddie pool to dip their toes in, but then when they got bigger we moved 'em to a pen going onto the pond and a big giant snapping turtle ate all of 'em within a few days... I was sad. :(
Lisa Kay: Love the pic of the squirrel. I've gotten a few good ones of local squirrels this year, like these. I actually did know that geese do not like swans, thanks to a cozy mystery read a few months ago. That one fact is what probably redeemed that book, as her goose motif was seriously starting to annoy.
I saw several wild turkeys while out walking this evening. What is it about seeing those stupid birds that makes you want to laugh and smile?
On the subject of native wildlife, has anyone else ever been to Bear Country USA in South Dakota? Now THAT was a cool experience!
Okay, speaking of cute squirrel pics, I've been doing some catch-up tonight and you have to see the adorable photos an online friend posted over the weekend: Squirrel pics
Hehe! That is like this one time when we were coming home from California and we found a chipmunk and fed him cookies!
LOLKit, Moose are very difficult to see. I have only ever seen one and he was standing in the middle of a highway looking at us in the oncoming car. Now that is frightening. He sauntered off the road and we carried on but ..
They live north of the Sault..what we call Sault St Marie. They only come south when the winters are really cold to find food. They are vegetarian and that must be difficult all winter.
I have never seen a moose, either. I have seen an elk (Custer State Park, SD), and many years back while on vacation, a couger bounded across the highway in front of our car.
Oh, I love cougars. They are soooooooo beautiful! Anyone remember the Benji movie where he gets lost and helps baby cougars who lose their mom?
Hmm...don't think I've seen that one. But then, it's been a really looong time since I've watched a Benji movie.
Heather L wrote: "I've gotten a few good ones of local squirrels this year, like these."Neat pics, Heather! Nope, never been to Bear Country, USA. Looks cute.
I have seen a moose in person - and a bear - both are HUGH!
Can't say I ever tried one. My xboyfriend once brought back a squirrel tail for my cat. He loved it.
Never ate a squirrel. If I ever went camping with my grandpa, though, I would probably end up eating every woodland creature :)
My parents really like squirrel. Its something that I don't mind eating but not something I would request to be for dinner. I've never had it in a soup though, may be pretty good that way.
I just started cooking my tomato soup with
fresh
basil - and I can't belief the difference from dried basil. It is like a whole new herb. Wonderful!
We just adopted two guinea pigs! I believe there names are going to be Teddy and Brownie (but Brownie may end up being ninja!)
Are they a boy and girl, Melissa? Are you going to have little guinea pigs? I think they breed like rabbits.
