Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments Lol, Ella, I KNOW what you mean. They make it look so easy on TV. Sad thing is We are going to need to paint soon too. Not so much the inside but the outside of our house needs it bad. I want siding but we can't afford that right now.

Oh I know right? My husband and I aren't the ahh handiest people, we like to think we are more intellectual..lol, so I'm sure we made this harder than it was but I guess in the end we saved a lot of money and we can say we proudly did it - right :/ lol

Melissa ugh... my daughter wants her room painted blue, but she wants hers "pearled" which is a 2nd coat of shimmery stuff that you swirl into the wet paint to get the right look. Just paint is a big job! She may have to wait a bit for that though! I guess I should just be glad she's done with the "Barbie pink" its painted now!

message 654: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments My daughter's room is currently blue, pink and purple. lol

message 655: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Went to my mom's today and she sent me home loaded up with fresh veggies from her garden... cucumbers, tomatoes, squash yummy! And a crock pot!

My parents retired recently and are thinking about building a smaller home on there property so they have been cleaning and giving away all kinds of stuff. Since my mom is a huge packrat she got lots of stuff to sort through so they fit in a smaller home!

message 656: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments Cool! love fresh veggies. So cut all that up and stick it in the crockpot! lol

Thats the plan! Or what's left from the kids dipping them in Ranch dressing! Love watching them eat veggies.

message 658: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments My daughter won't eat cooked veggies at all. Except maybe broccoli with cheese. She won't eat canned or frozen fruit either. Only fresh. Which is better for her anyway.

message 659: by [deleted user] (new)

I love fresh strawberries and blueberries...for breakfast :)

Ot cantaloupe - that's good too.

I can not wait until it starts to get cool again. Ok granted where I am it hasn't been as hot as it usualy is during June and July but man oh man is it making up for it now!

I am about to go on a cruise is September - I cannot wait and I just hope that when I get back the temp here has lowered just a little. I mean when it is STIL 94 degrees at 9.30pm it just isnt right - right?

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments Scorching here this summer. lots of 100 + temps and very little rain. It's not too bad today. Got a nice breeze.

Yeah - I need to move somewhere cool, but then I suppose I wouldn't like the cold, but I'm not sure. I'm definately more a jeans and sweater than shorts and tank kind of girl :)

Well here's hoping it cools down soon, and not in the form of a hurricane :/

message 663: by Jordan (new)

Jordan Connell (tinkerer) | 271 comments I went to the Oregon Coast and it was so nice. The weather only got up to 69 degrees! Came home and it was 102! Man, I miss the coast.

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments Sounds like a great place for a menopausal woman.

message 665: by Jordan (new)

Jordan Connell (tinkerer) | 271 comments Hahahaha! And, since it rains pretty much straight for 6 months out of the year (I love the rain!) there are tons of bookstores, because that is really all you can do is sit inside and read!

Afternoon all,

So I finally got Betty's AC fixed, and just so you know Betty is my bright red Beetle, yep I fondly call her Betty the bug, and she is now to cool for school..wooohoo.

Does anyone else name their car of is it just me :/

message 667: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (last edited Aug 14, 2012 04:06PM) (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments I always call my vehicles Betsy. I guess because of the comic Archie called his car Betsy. Though back in high school I did have a car I called George.

message 668: by [deleted user] (new)

My car before Betty was Eddie the Escort and he was a hunk....a HUNK of junk :)

Why George?

message 669: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments Don't really remember. I just remember a friend and me talking and I told her my car was George. I still got a "Val-O-Gram" that she sent at school telling me to say hello to "George". It may have something to do with my middle initial, G. I used to tell people my middle name was George. And I could easily prove my middle name began with the letter G so many believed me. haha.

LOL, so you wanted your nickname to be George, that's different, just to be unique or to see if people actually believed you??

message 671: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments I was a bit of a kidder. *shrugs* I don't really know why.

Marilyn (mbk1857) Pamela(AllHoney) wrote: "Scorching here this summer. lots of 100 + temps and very little rain. It's not too bad today. Got a nice breeze."

Man, we've had nothing but triple digits here all last week, this week, and looks like next week. On top of that, it's been humid; what I call the "backwash" of the monsoonal season typical of Arizona and the desert this time of year. The humidity broke today and it's drier -- which makes it easier for the brush to burn in the hills (which it is, now) just south of me. Oh, well. Another day in paradise.

message 673: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer We're finally getting some relief with the weather. It almost (I'm whispering) feels like summer might be ending soon. Yesterday I even thought about sitting on the porch and watching the sun set because it felt so nice outside. That's been an unreasonable option given the weather was burning us alive a couple of weeks ago.

I love the fall...is it here yet?

Man where are you at :) Can I visit - no relief in sight yet down here in the south. Today seems particularly hot - but we did have a milder June and July so I guess I better just be happy about that lol

message 675: by Heather L (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) It's felt more like fall than August here (southern Wis) for the past week, too, and the below normal temps (low to mid 70s) is to continue through the weekend. It's been a welcome respite from the above normal summer we've been having (90s to low 100s).

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments We had the power go out for a few hours here. My house stayed comfortable but it was starting to get hot in here when it finally came on. Apparently, they had a transformer blow. :(

Ugg! Well at least it was bareable - our AC has been on the fritz quite a bit this summer - we need to replace it by next year that's for sure :)

message 678: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments My mom and others did not fare so well. My mom had to get her generator out and hook it up to their travel trailer. My neighbor across the street has a generator on his house and he had to get his elderly mother in law from her house. Others stayed outside where there was a breeze.

Our AC is fairly new. We had to replace it last year.

Jennifer Ella wrote: "Man where are you at :) Can I visit - no relief in sight yet down here in the south. Today seems particularly hot - but we did have a milder June and July so I guess I better just be happy about that lol "

Ella, I'm in middle TN. I wrote about how it had become cooler, and wouldn't you know yesterday, when I left work, it was a gazillion degrees. I knew I should have kept my mouth closed.

However, we had a massive storm come through here last night, and it actually is cooler today. Cooler, darker, and full of rain.

Jordan Connell (tinkerer) | 271 comments I love that kind of weather, Jennifer! I wish it wasn't so hot here!

It's perfect for napping! I've half a mind to go straight home from work, put on pajamas, curl on the couch with a book, and be a bum until I fall asleep :)

message 682: by Jordan (new)

Jordan Connell (tinkerer) | 271 comments Being a bum is my favorite thing to do! And Veg out!

message 683: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Gonna be in the 80's here this weekend! Yeah! Its been insanely hot here lately.

message 684: by Melissa (new)

I know exactly what your weather is like...I am from Middle TN ☺ but currently live in the Middle of NE...aka middle of nowhere LOL My mom,step-dad and oldest son still live in Mid TN!!! I went for a visit in May trying to beat the heat wave I knew you all would have LOL It has been in the triple digits here most of the summer. This past week the weather finally broke. I shut the AC off and have had the windows open for a few days and it's really nice...feels like fall already. Is this a sign that we are going to have blizzards and large amounts of snow this winter...EEK!!!

message 687: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments lol, Robin, that's what the folks around here are saying. Haven't checked the persimmons yet.

message 688: by Melissa (new)

Melissa My stepdad said the farmers almanac said a lot more precipitation this winter so we may be in for snow snow snow!

message 689: by Marilyn (new)

Marilyn (mbk1857) Well, a few weeks ago our local weather man pointed out a warm body of water slowly moving northward to off the coast of So California. If so, that means an El Nino and an El Nino = RAIN. Cross your fingers everyone!

message 690: by Jordan (new)

Jordan Connell (tinkerer) | 271 comments We had a thunderstorm last night and the thunder was so loud it woke me up at 1 AM! So much for getting sleep :P

message 691: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments Hey, Jordan, send it to us. I'll take the thunder as long as I get the rain that goes with it. We are in a drought and over 15 inches below the normal rainfall for our state. Burn bans all over. Grass is brown and crunchy.

message 692: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments BTW, the persimmons have a spoon so lots of snow this winter ☺

message 693: by Jordan (new)

Jordan Connell (tinkerer) | 271 comments I live in Oregon,so during the fall we get rain frequently, which I absolutely love! I love waking up to thunderstorms, the only reason I was so agitated was because Daily Double practices for volleyball have started and I need my sleep. OH, and waking up reminds me of how SORE I am!

But if I could move to the Oregon coast, I would. In a heart beat! I love the smell of the ocean and just the cloudiness.

message 694: by Heather L (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) One night last week I had difficulty sleeping. I suspect it was due to the storm bearing down on us. Once it finally hit, the rolling thunder lulled me to sleep.

message 695: by Jordan (new)

Jordan Connell (tinkerer) | 271 comments I love falling asleep to a thunder storm! I like hearing the rain and seeing the lightning because my bed is right across from my window. I love the rain!

message 696: by Heather L (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) Jordan, I love storms as well. I had a roommate in college who was deathly afraid of them, could not understand my enthusiasm about them. As long as I am not caught outside in the middle of nowhere during one, I love everything about them.

message 697: by Jordan (new)

Jordan Connell (tinkerer) | 271 comments I love looking out my window and watching the lightning! It's so pretty and makes for beautiful pictures!

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments My jaw has been hurting all week and I broke down and went to the doctor. He told me TMJ. Now I can't chew gum :( Not that I chewed it a lot but I do like it.

message 699: by Melissa (new)

Melissa TMJ? What is that?

message 700: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14528 comments Can't remember what it stands for but basically my jaw joint is inflamed and hurts. I'm having problems opening my mouth enough to even put food it. Although that can be good. Hmmmmm...
