My first book was The Next Always. I fell in love! Then ran out bought the rest of the trilogy and finished in a weekend.
Hi! New to the group, but not to Nora. Started reading her when I was 11 (over 20 years ago) and, at one point I owned all of her books in hardcopy (moving made me give them up!). Now I have them all digitally. :-) My first was River's End. My favorite is The Three Fates.
Hello everyone! I was looking at some of Goodreads Groups and saw this one. I probably know many of the people here. I've been reading Nora Roberts since she wrote Silhouette Romances. I love her trilogies and her standalones. My favorite series is her Chesapeake Bay series. My favorite standalone is Three Fates.
Welcome join us as we read “ whiskey beach” and j d robb “Festive In Death” open Discussion starts January 8
Hi all! I'm so excited to find this group. I love Nora Roberts, and I believe I've read all of her books (with the exception of the elusive Promise Me Tomorrow!) It's so great that there's a place on goodreads to discuss her books! I actually have a podcast called "Romancing the Shelf" where my best friend and I are discussing all of Nora Robert's books from the beginning, way back in 1981. Feel free to check it out if you have any interest. Does everyone remember their first Nora book? Mine was "Jewels of the Sun." Love.
Thank you! I look forward to talking about and reading NR with this group. Can’t wait to tackle some challenges!
Hi everyone!I'm Lauren and I see some familiar faces here *waves*
I was sure I was a member of this group already, but I think my membership got deleted a few years back and I didn't notice - too many groups, lol!
Anyhoo, now that I'm all caught up with In Death, I need to get my monthly Nora fix from somewhere, so I thought I would read some of her backlist.
Looking forward to the discussions in the group :)
Jonetta wrote: "Woo hoo! Glad to see you here, Lauren. I’m also working on her backlist, too.Enjoy!"
Thanks Jonetta.
I've recently read a couple of her earlier works. It is so interesting to see how her style has changed over the years.
I know! I had a rough time with the start of The MacGregors series but after the third book, she seemed to have found her own footing and moved out of the Silhouette structure. I’m enjoying them now.
Jonetta wrote: "I know! I had a rough time with the start of The MacGregors series but after the third book, she seemed to have found her own footing and moved out of the Silhouette structure. I’m enjoying them now."That is good to hear. It's on my list!
It's me. I was updating my recent read of The Liar and saw this group at the bottom. I'm working on my challenge. I listened to all the In Death books at the beginning of the year when I was in a reading funk. I stopped adding the dates read because I was getting a conflict with "versions" read. Now I have motivation to get that fixed. Nice to see a lot of my reading buddies here.
So, I guess I don't feel like I have enough groups and challenges this year because here I am joining another one. :-) I am a huge Nora Roberts fan and have a bunch of her books on my shelf. I'm looking forward to finally getting those read so I can add more.
Hi, I'm Cass. Been a fan for many years. First NR book was Black Rose. The second book in In The Garden series, lol. I was working at a local zoo and it was a quiet rainy day. Someone had brought in a bunch of books. Black Rose caught my eye. Of course the first and third book weren't available! So I read it anyway and was hooked. I love the darker books more than the romance stories. Shelter in Place is my favorite, but also love Whiskey Beach, Sign of Seven and Dance of the Gods. Also loved JD Robb, I have all of those in ebook.
Welcome Cass! Jonetta and Sandra administer another group you may like.JD Robb
We have wonderful book discussions in all of their groups.
Welcome Mama Cass! Is your name a nod to the 60s band? Loved their music. Appreciate your NR origin story.
Thanks Sharon for sharing that info!

Thank you Sharon and Jonetta. Yes, Mama Cass is a favorite singer, love music from the 60s and 70s, but something about her voice resonates with me.
True story. I lived in Italy as a young girl (Dad was in the Army) and we took a trip to Germany and stayed with friends on the base. Their apartment was next to the barracks. Some lonely soldier replayed Monday, Monday all night long. To this day, I know all the lyrics to that song.
My fave is Dream of Little Dream of Me, but that's just Mama Cass. I love California Dreaming by the group. funny how music sticks with us. My true story to go with yours Jonetta, is in the 70s during the gas crisis lines, where your license plate determined what day you could purchase gas, and oh man, you rotted in long long lines for what seemed like hours and hours. My stepdad was a Sinatra fan, much to my cries of bleeding ears, and he would play an 8track of Sinatra's greatest hits. 11yrs old and knowing all the words to My Way. Takes me right back there every time I hear Ol Blue Eyes. Doesn't bother me so much anymore

OMG! I remember those gas lines. You could do worse than Sinatra😏
Mama Cass had such purity to her voice, which is featured so beautifully on Dream a Little Dream of Me.
You are bringing back such great musical memories. They all remind us of specific, often special, moments from our past.

Jonetta I don't know if you listen to country, but Trisha Yearwood has a beautiful song called The Song Remembers When. Kind of talks about that
I don’t listen to a lot in the genre but I do like Yearwood (and hubby Garth). I’ll check it out.
Oh my you guys are bringing back memories of music and long gas lines. Cass Elliot went to high school (Forest Park) with one of my cousins. I remember her singing in a couple of their school plays. I didn't appreciate it at the time. I hated getting dragged to see Jerry in the play. They were ten or twelve years older than me and didn't like me hanging around.
We all went to The Mamas and the Papas concert when they came to Baltimore years later. I remember all of the lyrics to their songs because my cousin played them repeatedly and bragged about how they were in a play together.
I have a Frank Sinatra and the rat pack story too.During the '70s gas line debacle, I worked at a small family-owned manufacturing company. One of my co-workers and I talked about going to NJ for vacation. The owner suggested we not make the trip because of the gas situation. He was a high roller and received a lot of perks from the Sands in LV. He called and got us a room and tickets to Sinatra et al. He said that was safer since we didn't need to worry about gas as the casino would pick us up. It was a once in a lifetime gift.

Wow! That is once in a lifetime. You saw Sinatra live in LV? Amazing.

Yes, and we had a table very close to the stage. My mother was so angry with me for not including her. I told her I was going to Las Vegas thanks to Mr. Kibler. We didn't know we had tickets to the show until we checked in.
Music really can bring back memories. It takes you back to being a long gas line to your first dance, first kiss, your mom's sweet voice in the kitchen, your teenage years, your wedding, etc. I love the power of it all. ps Perry Como, Barbra Streisand and Celtic Woman are required Christmas Albums in my home.

I was in line with you back then, Cass! What memories!! California Dreaming is my all time favorite of the group and I spent many a day dreaming of heading to California when I finally got out of school. Didn't happen, of course, but I was fortunate enough to see many of the big music groups of that era.

I’m so old school when it comes to Christmas music…Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, Andy Williams. I’ve updated with Michael Bublé and Alicia Keys😏

What was your 1st NR book? I wish I could remember mine but it’s been a while since my grandma introduced her to me...and I was hooked. I still raid her bookshelves to see if she has any new ones that I haven’t read. My bookcase is a good percentage of her books also haha
