I started a couple of days ago. I'm really enjoying it and if it wasn't a regular book I'd probably have it done already (I have more opportunities to read ebooks). I'm lovin' the Chinese influences! I was expecting a fantasy based on the cover - but it's urban fantasy. That's what I get for judging a book by it's cover I guess.

Melinda | 4 comments I just got it from the library and will be starting it soon. It looks interesting.

Sarah (sarah_anne) | 60 comments I finished it a couple of weeks ago and definitely liked it. I agree that the cover was a little bit misleading for me, too!

It was a nice change of pace for me...

Cathy (cathygreytfriend) | 20 comments I've ordered it from the library and really hope to get it in time. It's been high on my list for a while. Unirtinately it's not available as an ebook or I'd have started it last night! My library is usually pretty fast, I'll let you know if it arrives in time.

VMom (votermom) | 29 comments I just read this & Nine Gates a couple of weeks ago and when I stumbled on this group discussing it I decided to join. (Hi!!!)
I really enjoyed it since I am Filipino and grew up fairly familiar with mahjong and with the Chinese zodiac. (Fruits Basket is a favorite anime series in our house.)
Wiki has a page that shows mahjong tiles, btw:

Dawn I can't wait to get started, this is my first group read. I can't even pick the book up from the library until Sat and I'm dying to start reading it.

I'm about half way done and the book is really making me want to go get a real Majhong set. I've played on the computer but I think I want to learn the real game now.

I came to the same conclusion! It's one of those games that I've never really thought about until now.

Cathy (cathygreytfriend) | 20 comments I got it! I'm about 1/2 way through and really enjoying it. All of the Mahj stuff makes me miss my mom. I have her old set, it used to be very popular in the Jewish community in the '70s and has had a renaissance lately. Wish I had people to play with! I bet there are a lot of online game sites. And of course there are tons of mahjong solitaire computer games, I've been playing those for years.

Nedra | 1 comments I am a little more than halfway through and I really like the story. It is a nice change from the traditional wizard/witch magic books that are the trend these days.
