Hi Judi! I don't know the other groups, but to tell you the truth, I'm learning more than I think I contribute. It is a great place to learn from those who are more 'well read'.

Hi, I'm relatively new in this group. I am having difficulty reading discussions because they skip around and won't stay still long enough! I'm in other groups and none of them have this problem! Anybody else encounter this?
Hi Gianna! Welcome to the group, glad to have you! Thank you for bringing up a concern. Hmmmm, I really haven't noticed that. Maybe someone else is having the same problem...anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks, Pete! Didn't you just get back from Roma? I think that's where you said you were going...how was it?

Still a million things I wanted to see. Campania too, even in the shadow of Vesuvius, wanted longer stay. Pompeii is huge. A city. Didn't get to see it all. Switzerland awesome. All nice and hot...but now back in the rain.
I want to leave a comment.I am very happy to see the group active and on so many various topics. I am working a lot lately and have bumps and bruises daily. I try to participate. I'm sorry for my some-what scatter-brained responses and interjections.
Thank you Thank you Thank you for holding up so well! Love you all my wonderful art friends!
Love U 2 Heather! I've been commandeered into a few groups in GR but this is my fav.If I don't participate too much, I'm always lurking to read the many fascinating posts on the many fascinating topics & always like the pics!

Heather: What work do you do to incur bumps and bruises? Maybe it's time you retired from professional boxing!Monie: Wie gehts, meine kleine apfelstrudel! I'm sending you my good vibes. Italy just far out. No journal sorry.
Your invisible brothren.
good luck with those bumps and bruises. You've done a great job keeping the group interesting, fun and friendly where I feel that it's been good to get to know everyone.
What happened, Heather. I caught that in your latest post. Hope you are doing better. Take care. And I feel that I am "Brushing" up on my art history and am enjoying this site very much, thanks to you Heather and all the other knowledgeable people that make up art lovers. Mahalo.

Thanks Jim and Robin :)
Yes take care of yourself, we hope you are in full recovery soon. We would all be lost without this art lovers site on goodreads.
Enter the following EXACTLY the way it is written below:img src="your link here" />
Put a < in front of 'img'. Keep the parentheses on both sides of your image link, and do everything else exactly as it is above. Anyway, to get your image link, right click on the image and there should be an option to select 'copy image location'. Paste that whole thing inside the parentheses. When you post it, the image should come up. If it doesn't or you have questions, please let me know.
I love the idea of a group read with this group! Are we all going to nominate books for a poll??? I'm not sure how it works. There are so many great novels about artists, and also, of course, so many great nonfiction books on art.
I'm glad you're part of the group, Barbara! It has been fun in the past, we kind of got away from it over the summer. The past books have been hit or miss. But we'll try it again.
Anybody who likes studio visits (including those who live in places where there aren't many artists about) might like to check out Gorky's Granddaughter....http://www.gorkysgranddaughter.com/
Here's one I stumbled on, but there are a ton of video visits to choose from.

Hey Everybody!!!I am so sorry I have been away. You all know about my current 'domestic' situation. Anyway, I have been without internet since last Friday. I just got it hooked up about 1/2 hour ago and where do I go first! :) I've peeked here a couple of times from another computer but not long enough to even catch up on the posts. I am impressed with the energy that you have contributed to bringing about more art information, updates and general understandings. Thank you! I am looking forward to 're-joining' my informative group!

Welcome back!
Hi Heather! Hope things are working out OK for you (not just the computer).Heather wrote: "Hey Everybody!!!

Thank you, Gianna. You know it's really nice to come home from work, get with my favorite group and people and have messages like this. Thank you! It's good to be back.
Hi Heather, this is just a thought but perhaps you can come up with a topic for each month's "Picture of the Day"? Like fatigue (oh, it just popped out, that's exactly how I feel now) or summer, poverty etc.
Well, we could do that. Right now I don't think we are having so many posts for the Picture of the Day, will more people be inclined to include their pictures? Or will we have even less participation?
A couple of iders fer yu :Van Gogh and you.... I have an imagine in my mind of Van Gogh walking around in my town. Of course, I don't know who he is yet, just a guy on my radar . Imagining, what might my relationship to him / with him be?
Might I meet him in a coffee shop, hold my nose and say your feet and slide him a bottle of Prozac?
More curious, what might your relationship be or is right now to potential Van Goghs in your world?
SECOND PONDERING :
Artist and or art through the looking glass.
Looking at the artist, looking into their eyes, is it so much what they see and allow to their soul or might it be how the world responds to them? ...
Another way of looking at it, when you photograph people, you notices them change and poses for the photograph. How they pose is relative to the photographer, the context and purpose.
Might it be that artist have a way of making those around them artist and art?
Might it be about how people and environments allow themselves to be in the presence of a person?
Thank you Monica !Nice to have a place to down load ... I definitely can empathize with Vincent.

But maddest of all,
to see life as it is,
and not as it should be!”

Where do we draw the line ?
or better, Is there a line?
If there were a line, what kind of line might it be?
Twisting , turning, etherial, moris code like , what, name it, can't put your fing on it can you?
There is a fine line between the absurd and the sublime .
