Oh and BTW.....Hi DN and welcome to our bloody group! Chat with ya soon im sure!

I am an American ex-pat with a Ph.D. in Balkan History (UCLA, 1995) who has lived and worked in the former Yugoslavia for over 18 years (Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Croatia, etc). In addition to my work as an historian, editor and political analyst, I have recently e-published a novel ("Kiss of the Butterfly" -- paranormal, historical/literary fiction, suspense) set largely in the former Yugoslavia during the 1990s. It is based on my research into Balkan folklore and history, as well as my experiences in the region during the wars. Although the book begins in 1476, much of it takes place in Serbia and Bosnia, and yes, there just might be a love triangle or two along with assorted Balkan oddities such as vampires.
Kirkus Reviews wrote of my new novel, “Kiss of the Butterfly”: "In the glut of vampire-themed novels now on the market, Lyon’s debut stands out… skillful… authentic… fascinating… inspired… Lyon executes it perfectly... vivid... engaging... highly promising... sophisticated..."

No sparkling. No bodice-ripping for desperate housewives. No thousand-year-old vampires behaving like hormonally-addled, sexually frustrated teenagers. Just the real stuff in a rel life context. I hope you enjoy it.
James

There is blood and gore, but not tons of it. The suspense builds slowly to a climax. Then when it gets there, necks are bitten, heads are rolling, blood is spewing, folks are dying, stakes are impaling, and no butterfly,, vampire or human is safe. :-)

Hello everyone
My name is Shane KP O'Neill and I am the writer of The Dracula Chronicles, a new series that adds a very new dimension to the Dracula legend and which sees a return of the darker, more traditional vampire. The books are quite epic in scope and are categorised as dark, Gothic horrors. However, they are much more than that. Each book is an historical adventure, a romantic tragedy, a tale of paranormal fantasy and romance, with a lot of erotica and dark erotica added to the chilling premise and undertones.
This project has been with me over 20 years. Away from it I love travel, reading, sports, board games, long walks in nature.
As a traveller I have seen much of the world and lived in many countries. My favourite place is New York City and the destinations I long most to see that I haven't would be Rome in Italy and the Balkan countries where my stories are based.
As a reader I love the work of Stephen King, Dean Koontz, James Herbert, Anne Rice, Carlos Ruis Zafon, Jeffrey Archer and James Patterson.
The sports I love would be football, cricket, boxing, rugby union and American football. I love playing board games with the family, though I played scrabble internationally for a few years.
Though I am originally from Ireland, these days I live with my wife and family in Norway, the perfect place to be at one with nature in what has to be the most beautiful country of the very many I have seen.
I look forward to meeting and to getting to know many of you over time. I hope this gives you some idea of who I am. Best wishes.
Shane

Shane,
Welcome to the group. Based on everything you have said I am sure you and I would get along just fine. I love Dracula. The original novel by Bram Stoker is my favorite book. I love other Dracula stories too, and would very much like to check out yours. Oh, and I applaud your attempt at "sees a darker traditional vampire". Something I sadly miss these days with all this Twilight shit!!!
I love your choice of authors too. Stephen King and Anne Rice are great storytellers. I have taken some boxing classes as well. Also, I was born American, but my family is of Irish descent, and we are proud of our heritage.
Well, as you can see you and I have many similar itrests, and I am very sure that you will make some good friends here. Happy to have you with us.

Hi, Dan, and thank you. We certainly have a lot in common, most importantly our love of Dracula. I hope my Dracula meets your expectations. I look forward to being a part of this group.

Yes, it seems we do have a lot in common. I love Dracula. You know I wrote a paper in college on Bram Stoker and the research he did for Dracula. Fascinating stuff. Well, Shane, as you know I am a moderator, and I welcome you to my group. Not sure what you are reading currently or have read but I'm sure we could recommend some books for you. Oh, and I encourage you to particpate in the "New Fangs for 2013" reading challenge (they must be vampire books). Also, feel free to have a look around and comment where ever you like.

LMFAO!!! And Shayne, the answer was now about sissy vamps. Lol. An emo vampire is just a vampire who feeds off of emotions in lue of blood, not to say they don't feed off of blood as well, sort of like a psychic vampire.
And I will most def give Meyers this, for readers who haven't read in a while (like me when I first read the series', cuz u can ignore the sparkles in the book, I acted like it was a typo), the series makes you remember how much you love REAL vampires. LOL

Welcome, Derek. It's always nice when we get men in here. LOL..sometimes I feel like there aren't enough of us. Well, I hope you enjoy the group.
Pleases, please, please come join one of my two groups Twilight Saga and Twilight Forever. They're not very active, and I want more people posting.

Name's Jevron McCrory. I've been writing for years now.
Penned five original screenplays, one collection of short stories and two novellas, one of which got actually published a few years back, entitled Swan Song.
It's a gritty, violent, East London, disturbed, vampire romance. It's got wonderful reviews since publication, better than I could have hoped for!
Since then, I am changing publishers and looking for an agent to shop my screenplays about.
Oh, and The Lost Boys is quite simply THE greatest vampire movie of all time.
That is all, people.
Lol!
Please come be apart of news of my two groups: Twilight Saga and Twilight Forever. They're not was active as I would like. So if you like Twilight, even just a little bit, come join one of these amazing groups.
Jevron wrote: "Twilight isn't VAMPIRES.

Okay dude, that was kind of rude.

Sorry, hon. I didn't mean to be so harsh.
I just hate Twilight.
I hate what Meyer did with vampires.
It's okay. I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

You've got more bite than Edward.
Ooooops!
Done it again!
Lol!

If only to see if a Twilight fan and The Lost Boys fan can meet somewhere in the middle.......

Meyer is so much in love with Edward, she mentioned how BEAUTIFUL he is almost every single paragraph, it grated on me.
Then it promised a huge vampire 'smack-down' that never actually happened.
I never forgave her for that.
The truth is, her own husband asked her to watch a 'real' vampire movie (The Lost Boys) and she said it scares her.

Yay, Jeveron! That is true Meyer has never seen a vampire movie or read a vampire book before. As you said, her husband tried to get her to watch The Lost Boys and she couldn't do it because it was too scary. She couldn't watch Interview with the Vampire either.
She also says that she "can't read about other people's vampires because they are not like hers".
Did I ever mention I hate that bitch!?!!!

Oh yea, couldn't have put it better myself.Teenage romance gash should be sold as such and not Vampire horror that it is perceived to be.I so nearly wasted money on buying the first novel(until reading up on peoples opinions of it),but dodged the bullet. There is obviously a market for it but one that includes the "harry Potter" series and should be thought of as such.
Of course if all of a sudden it got a large dollop of the "Draculas"novel used as an ingredient I might change my tune!
By the way I'm know as Paddy and this is the first time I've commented on here and these are my opinions not malicious rants. So hello everyone,I'm just a simple reader, who loves Gothic horror and if it's based on Dracula even more so.I'm always up for suggested books to read, particularly in the genre I've just mentioned and at the moment I'm reading "The Historian"and though a little on the slow side,I'm enjoying it.Cheers all
Lol. I didn't even know that until Jevron said something! All I knew was that she supposedly had a dream that less her to writing the books. But if she's not a fan of vampires u did she even write em? I admit to reading them, must red all things vamp related, lol, and did enjoy them, I ignored the sparkles.
But, the more I learn about her, the more I regret actually purchasing them instead of downloading them for free. Lol. Turns out she was just about the money. Which, granted, everyone who writes does want to make something substantial for their books, u shouldn't write something ur not passionate about, or at least enjoy. She even write a book about one of the characters who only had one line and died!!! No, I did not buy or even download that one.
Maybe we should start a bash twilight thread. Lmao. Just kidding Rayna!! :-)
