My fave author at the moment is Sherrilyn Kenyon

I'm new to the group and thought I'd say hello and introduce myself.
My name is Mary Abshire and I am a lover of paranormal. Call me an addict and I'm fine with that! I love urban fantasy as well. Vampire books have always been my favorite.
I live in Indianapolis, Indiana. My hobbies include reading and writing. Favorite authors include Jeanine Frost, Kim Harrison, Kelley Armstrong, Jocelynn Drake, Keri Arthur... just to name a few.
My first paranormal romance, Claiming the Evil Dead, is now available. It is the first novel in the soul catcher series and involves sexy vampires and hot demons.
You can read the first chapter on Goodreads or follow links to my website too, www.maryabshire.com
Hope everyone has a Happy New Year!
Mary Abshire

Thanks Rayna! It's always nice to find a support group that actually does support the authors.

Starting last October I began watching every vampire movie I could get my hands on, and in the past six months I have seen about 150 vampire movies, some good, some bad. (Incidentally I have a list of my picks of the "70 Best Vampire Movies" over on IMDB for those who are interested in seeing some good ones. If you want to find the list just google, "70 Best Vampire Movies" and click on the list by pisces19).
Once I finished that, I started watching all the vampire shows I could possibly watch from beginning to end, (There is a list on IMDB of the "Best Vampire TV Series" also that I made) although I haven't quite finished that list yet. There are still a couple shows I need to see. Interestingly, I decided to start reading some more vampire fiction again because of one of the shows, "Blood Ties". I wanted to know more about the characters, and once I started reading I decided to continue with my vampire obsession and seek out the best of vampire fiction. That led me here!
So, since I began all this in October, I figured I would just make this the year of the vampire, and continue all my vampire show and movie watching and book reading until the end of October again. So far it has been pretty fun!
I am looking forward to discovering many new and interesting vampires along the way!
Well u have joined the right club my dear. Lol. What type of vamp books do u like, we could recommend more than a few. Horror, erotica, funny, passionate........ And there are actually two Blood Ties series, the one you have already read and this one, which is pretty good as well......
Check out our book challenge section as well, sure u will find quite a few there. Looking forward to chatting with u!!!

I would sugggest reading some of Keri Arthur's Riley Jensen, Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy, and JR Ward's BDB series....all very enjoyable vamp novels!

Strictly gory would be the Necroscope series by Brian Lumley, very good, but kind of drawn out. Men seem to draw things out a bit don't they? Lol. Anita Blake did get better, then towards the end bad again, lol, kind have to stick with her, it does have ur horror and romance. Also, Krestley Cole's Immortal's After Dark series. I will think of a million more and send u an email!
