I have read the whole twilight series (several times) and the host, and i have not been in the least disappointed by her yet!

I'm not a fan. She singlehandedly manages to almost completely destroy the vampire mythos. I it will always be a case of either hating or loving her work.

Lauren Smith Hmm, I don't know if she's managed to destroy the vampire mythos, but she's definitely robbed it of some of it's credibility. The angsty sexy vampire thing started a long time ago and TV shows like Buffy and Angel made it pop culture, so Meyer's vamps were more or less a continuation of that.

But yeah, I think she turned vampires into emo losers. I don't think there's anything sexy about Edward, and sparkling is just impossibly silly.

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments I enjoyed the Twilight series until Eclipse and then for me it took a downhill spiral. I hated Breaking dawn with a vengeance and hated the fact that Bella got everything she wanted tied up into a neat little bow.All through the other books I was eager to know how Bella was going to cope with being a vampire, and like everything else in BD she sailed through with flying colors with everyone accepting the fact that she was a vampirei.e. Charlie. There were so many things I hated about it, the pregnancy, the imprinting urgh.Lack of conflict, and honeymoon biting pillows?? What was that about. It was just wrong and could have been so much better. My favourite was New Moon.

Saying that I loved The Host and was almost not going to read it because Stephanie Meyer was the author. It was an excellent read and one I would recommend.

Lauren Smith "honeymoon biting pillows"?

message 7: by Emma (new)

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments lol On Bella and Edwards honeymoon on Esme Island when they had sex Edward bit the pillows. It was all rather ridiculous.

message 8: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Hahahahahahaha!

I can't stand Edward, he's so lame. Biting you is part of what makes vampires so cool, not bloody sparkling and going to high school over and over again.

Hahaha this thread is funny

I enjoy the twilight series, but I think because I read it for fun... I like reading it just for fun. But I know what your point is Emma, its silly how the book has now twist, Bella just gets everything...

And I get your point as well Lauren... But I just like the books...

I look forward to reading the Host. But yet again Emma, I know what you mean by sometime I just dont want to read a good book because all his or her previous book were bad... no matter how good this recomendation is :)

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments I enjoyed Twilight and New Moon Niecole, so the Twilight saga as a whole wasnt a complete flop, just the ending.

The host is a really good book and very addictive.

Funny that Stephanie Meyer was just on Oprah tonight. Felt guilty for slamming her now :-)

Whats it about? I've heard so much about it, seen it around, but never heard anyone say what its about...

I get what you're saying Emma... I have only read the first two (I know what happens :), its just that my cousin never knows what to buy me for my birthday and Christmas so I keep these books for him to get me...) and I agree Bella just gets everything, its to predictable
