Erik I'm starting January 21st, so I have to read about 1 book a week for the rest of the year. Looking forward to it!

Recommendations appreciated!

Sherri (sherrij2003) Is this book the same as the movie?

The movie is based on the novel, according to IMDb. I haven't seen the movie, so I wouldn't know how similar they are.

I warmly recommend the book.

Erik Currently reading: The Magicians by Lev Grossman.

I just noticed it only had 3.44 average rating here, so I guess it might be a disappointment. However, it was recommended by one of my favourite authors (Pat Rothfuss) a while ago, so I'll give it a try. Seems pretty fun so far, 20 or so pages in. :)

It's based on the book, but more kid friendly and not as charming as the book. I also highly recommend it. The book that is.

Erik I seem to have lost THE MAGICIANS, so I read my book club book instead.

5. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
by Mary Ann Shaffer, Annie Barrows (5 stars)

Delightful.

Erik Found it.

6. The Magicians by Lev Grossman (4.5 stars)

I really recommend this book for those who don't mind swearing. (I don't) It starts off a bit like a mix of Narnia and HP, but it gets more rough (and interesting) later on. -0.5 for the ending; not that it was sugar-sweet or very sad, it just felt... slightly unfinished. Still, a great book.

Erik 7. Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson

Part 1 of 3. If you like fantasy, and are to read any one of the books I've read so far, read this one. Unique.

Erik 8. Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson

Stand-alone. I loved this one, too, especially the characters. Available for free as a PDF on the author's website (how awesome isn't that?!).
