Ender's Game - Favorite/Hated Character Beyond Ender

Hmm, I really liked Alai. I hated Bonzo with a passion. What a jerk!

I am all for Dink. I love that he is a fantastic natural leader, but refused to play the game until it was meaningful and that he was smart enough to recognize that Ender was the one he should put his faith in.

Of course, I am not a fan of Bonzo, but I recognize Ender wouldn't have become the leader humanity needed if not for Bonzo's B.S.

My hated character is Peter. Again, an important piece to Edner's development. But, what a creepy kid. I have no love for him, even as he develops in the Bean sequels. I despise him.

Mm, Peter instantly reminded me of the kid in Iain Banks's The Wasp Factory, which instantly started up one of those all too familiar love/hate relationships.

I always liked Valentine and Alai, though. And I know it's 'beyond Ender', but, I really do love Ender.

I have to agree with you J-Lynn, I really didn't like Peter at all. I know he had to be there to help shape Ender. I still don't like him.


I loved Val for her unending love for Ender. I am also fond of Alai because he was able to see past Bernard and is little games. He became a good friend and someone to trust.

I have two answers here; keeping within Ender's Game completely, I would have to say I loved Valentine the most, even though we did not see much of her. After developing Bean more in Ender's Shadow, he quickly replaced her as my favorite.

Who do you hate and would gladly boot out of the Enderverse?

I have to go with Peter on this one. Every time I see him in the storyline I don't like him (and typically read/skim faster). I though Achilles was a better and more developed antagonist ... then again, Card was older when he created Achilles.
