Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10136 comments I'll be waiting. :)

message 2602: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments I've read only one on your list, and have a copy of another one in my TBR list. :-)

message 2603: by Kymela (new)

Kymela (kymelatejasi) | 674 comments I've heard of plenty of those, but never read any.

Having pneumonia around Christmastime sucks. And it's only been about two weeks since my store opened and I've been out for one. xP

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10136 comments I have some obscure tastes, that I'll admit. :)

message 2605: by Edward (new)

Edward Davies | 1727 comments I've read four of them. :D The idea from this list was books beginning with each letter of the alphabet that you've read this year.

message 2606: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10136 comments This year alone? If I would have known that, I'd have a shorter list. Hehe!

message 2607: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments This year? Well, I read 6, maybe 8. Ah well, barely a word's worth. LOL!

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments That is awesome and impressive Garrison! To get 23 out of 26 is better than anything I would do probably with my "read" list.

Wow and I've so far only read about 12 books this year. I'd be very short lol!

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10136 comments You should treat yourself to a professional chair massage sometime. It's an awesome stress reliever. :)

April Freeman (I guess this is a better thread to chat on)

Hey Angie, I feel the same, haven't been on here in forever!

But guess what guys? I'm published now! Got my story in an anthology alongside basically all of my favorite living authors! So that's been fun :)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments Hmm... I seriously wonder why posts on here (the contests) are fewer than usual. Hopefully I will make an announcement to bring up some feedback. I hope though to mostly hear what people want to bring to the table to an upcoming contest.... and I mean song lyric ideas!

Is anyone psyched about GR's new Re-reading feature? I know I sure am!

I didn't know about it. I have wanted it for as long as I've been here with GR.

message 2627: by C. J., Cool yet firm like ice (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments Yep. Their latest blog has talked about it. I hope I can use it properly; for some reason I don't get the instructions on that page but I'm probably overthinking how to do it.

message 2628: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments I haven't had time to read the instructions! Once you've figured it out, let me/us know. :-)

It's actually easier than they are making it seem! The way they say it on the blog article left me confused about what to do. After you make your book "Currently reading" go into editing your entry on the book. There will be a new option where you input the times you began and ended your reading of said book. There will be an italics message saying Rereading? with an extra set of dates you started and ended that book as well. Plus there's an option I found by accident where you can input rereading more than once. Pretty useful!

message 2630: by C. J., Cool yet firm like ice (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments I apologize to everyone I'm friends with if you got repeated email updates about one book I am currently re-reading. This new system is apparently a buggy mess! I was just trying to work on one book to get the dates up and they keep saying that I've read it 3 times or put up dates I tried to erase.... I don't know. They did say this was some sort of simple option for the time being so it's not too surprising that a number of people are having problems with it currently.

message 2631: by Edward (new)

Edward Davies | 1727 comments Every book I'm currently reading says I'm reading it for the second time! Have to correct it when I complete the book.

message 2632: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Thank you CJ and Edward. I'll avoid the feature for now. :-)

message 2633: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10136 comments Hey, everybody. I'm writing to let you guys know that I'm back from my Mexican and Californian vacation. I'll write a blog about it later in the week, maybe even tomorrow afternoon. But for now, I want to relax after a long day of traveling. I definitely want to participate in the next short story contest. Demon Axe is open for business yet again! :)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments Just to let anyone know why I wasn't able to do much today I was planning on putting up the polls and contest but completely forgot. I now have a ballgame to go to with some close friends.

But like I said on the threads if you have an idea for a future prompt in our contests feel free to let us know!

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Hello CJ!
What about the prompt "The busy-ness of being alive"?

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10136 comments Hey there, everyone! I'm happy to announce that my elderly brown kitty Smokey has been named Cat of the Day, an honor previously won by two other kitties of mine named Sitka and Piper. Congratulations, Smokey-Bear! ^_^

Nate | 166 comments If you like to write DO NOT use this site- Inkitt.

Frustrated as hell right now!!!!

If anyone uses Inkitt I suggest you stop and delete your account. I don't have an account with them but found MY writing Once again plagiarized and published on their website by someone going by the name 'passyword'. This person clearly copied and pasted my story (typos and all) then published it under their name. (They changed the summery but the rest it mine)

I have contacted Inkitt and over the last two days have sent them the url link to my writing three times now. (at their request) They claim they searched GR and could not find any such book- I informed them that it is NOT a published book however it is still MY writing. Today I sent them the link again along with screen shots requesting that the writing be removed from their site immediately. I feel like I am getting no where and its pissing me off! so again Do NOT use Inkitt. I have had my writing jacked before and yes its quite maddening but any other site that I have had to deal with once I got hold of them it was dealt with rather quickly once I sent them the link to my writing. smh GRRRRR!!!!

here is the writing on Inkitt -

Here is my writing- https://www.goodreads.com/story/show/...

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10136 comments You have every right in the world to be frustrated, Nate. Whoever this Passyword thief is, he needs to be punished to the fullest extent.

message 2641: by Nate (new)

Nate | 166 comments Thanks, somehow I don't think they are taking it that seriously. This is the one down fall to sharing your writing on the internet, yes I know its a risk but how else do you get ppl to read your stuff? ...everything is a catch 22 these days.

message 2642: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10136 comments I was once a member of Inkitt, so I know how worthless they can be.

message 2643: by Nate (new)

Nate | 166 comments Garrison wrote: "I was once a member of Inkitt, so I know how worthless they can be."

Sadly.
I get the impression from the emails that this site is run by those whose first language is not English, am I wrong in that theory, do you know?

I just want my writing removed from their site.

message 2644: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10136 comments I've never actually contacted the admins of Inkitt, but judging by how many of their emails ended up in my junk mail folder, it's probably not a good sign.

message 2645: by Nate (new)

Nate | 166 comments I don't even know if these are admins, I assume they are. I emailed the 'support team' and if I get no results, idk where or who to contact next. Infuriating, to say the least.
Hopefully my last email will yield some result.

message 2646: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10136 comments Good luck in dealing with these nitwits. Don't give them any quarter when it comes to your creative work.

Nate | 166 comments Anybody have any advice on how to combat Plagiarism?

Now I found this- https://www.amazon.com/dp/1541350472/...

https://books.google.com/books/about/...

sounds pretty fucking familiar to me, what do you think? Even though I can't read it I'm betting its my writing.

Here's the link to my journal:

https://www.goodreads.com/story/show/...

I am sooooo infuriated!

message 2648: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10136 comments I'd say it's time to hire a lawyer. This is BS.

message 2649: by Nate (new)

Nate | 166 comments I was stoked that my journal was on the top list but apparently that just opens it up for more ppl to steal it. smh

and ppl wonder why I've not written anything more for my book on here....I'm afraid to even check that one. But the journal seemed to be what readers enjoyed more, I was just happy that my words even made an impact, Now I am regretting it.
