40 books? Wow, I hope I can read them all but I'm going to read Valis and Transmigration of Timothy Archer next. He had written short stories too, right?

I loved Farenheit 451!!! Bradbury is a genius; his work is brilliant.

message 1703: by Caitlan (new)

Caitlan (lionesserampant) | 2869 comments I loved it as well. Then again, I liked most books we read in school, unlike a lot of the people in my classes.

message 1704: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments We haven't read it in class yet. I just broke down and read it about six months ago. I like most of the books we read in school too, but the constant complaining from classmates makes it a little less interesting.

message 1705: by Caitlan (new)

Caitlan (lionesserampant) | 2869 comments Ugh, I hated that. :P

message 1706: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments I know! Every day this year when we were supposed to discuss the assigned reading in English, there were never more than eight or nine people at most who agreed with me when I said I liked a certain chapter or scene.

message 1707: by Caitlan (new)

Caitlan (lionesserampant) | 2869 comments I know! Oh my goodness, that got under my skin so much! And I hated it when they didn't actually read it, so there were only a few people participating in the discussion.

message 1708: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments Oh, yeah, that's almost worse!! When you tell someone you like a certain character or chapter and they just give you a blank stare and say, "Uh... what?"

message 1709: by Edward (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments I just hate cirriculum reading. I prefer picking up a book and reading, or browsing the relevant section to find something, or getting a referral from a friend. Reading a series of books (especially fiction) to fullfil a given set, like completing tasks in a video game, makes enjoyable books very tedious.

message 1710: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments I used to have a comics version of Moby Dick. If they hadn’t changed up the ending, I’d have done better on the exam.

message 1711: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments Hello, Cap'n!!! It's great to see you! I've missed you pirates so much!!!

message 1712: by Caitlan (new)

Caitlan (lionesserampant) | 2869 comments We've missed you too!

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments Ugh. I am having nasty weather problems in my area. There are severe thunderstorms and supposedly tornadoes may be coming our way (hopefully not!!!).
This blows (in more ways possible). :P

I wanted to get some stuff done today and apparently none of it may work out today either.

message 1714: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Good luck, CJ!

message 1715: by Kymela (new)

Kymela (kymelatejasi) | 674 comments Are you, by chance, somewhere in Virginia or North Carolina near Hampton Roads?. We are supposed to get the same kind of weather tonight around 7 pm. Lol

message 1716: by Edward (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments I was just standing outside, waiting for the bus, when a wall of wind surged forth from the trees and nearly blew me into the street. The gust remained steady for five minutes, at least until the bus arrived.

It was awesome.

message 1717: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments But the sudden wind as suddenly stopped, leaving everyone dis-gusted.

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments Nope I am in the East Coast and live in Pennsylvania.

message 1719: by C. J., Cool yet firm like ice (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments I heard nasty thunderstorms a while back followed by a second storm mass that wasn't as severe. A lot of rain though.

message 1720: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments In Southwestern Pennsylvania, there’s a Frank Lloyd Wright house I’m going to go see one of these days. It’s built on a waterfall on a rocky creek.

message 1721: by Kymela (new)

Kymela (kymelatejasi) | 674 comments You're still close enough to have been hit by the same system, though.

M, TAKE ME WITH YOU!!!!!!!!!

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments (sticks tongue out immaturely) Why? I wanna go to Fallingwater with M!! :D

Cool. That sounds neat! Hope you will get to see it. I never knew a house could be built near a waterfall.

Haha. I like your post Kyra! :D

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments Haha, thanks. Being immature is my specialty. :D

Jan (auntyjan) | 199 comments Hi everyone....just thought I would pop in and say hi....wow...all those new people to meet....sorry I haven't contributed much this year....playing too much words with friends and scramble I think. Besides which I went to Japan and learned to ski for the first time in my life, my husband went to Nepal and trekked to Everest base camp and now we are planning a trip to Europe for August and part of September.

message 1727: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Welcome back, Jan!
Wow, you would appear to be trying to epitomize busy-ness!

Jump back in to the WSS if you can find the time. Above all, continue to have fun!

To whom it may concern:

Happy father's day! :)

M | 11617 comments Hi, Jan!

Check out this moribund group. It could almost be the W.S.S.

Yes. Did you read any of the stories?

Thank you, Leslie, for the well wishes. Although no one has come forward who has been willing to admit being my child.

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments Yes. Happy Father's Day to any of the fathers out there! :D

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments Who's in the mood for a fire dance?

message 1733: by Guy (last edited Jun 18, 2013 04:56PM) (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Not sure. What is a fire dance? The dance of joy when one gets by managing to get fired from the job one hates?

message 1734: by [deleted user] (new)

Guy wrote: "Not sure. What is a fire dance? The dance of joy when one gets fired from the job one hates?"

lol!

message 1735: by Edward (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments Sadly, my papa taught me a ridiculously strong work-ethic, so there was no fire dance for me.

message 1736: by Jan (new)

Jan (auntyjan) | 199 comments I go dancing four times a week....but I've never been fire dancing.....but it might be useful for any princesses who needed to escape from dragons! I do line dancing twice a week, circle dancing once a fortnight and tap dancing on Fridays.......maybe if I turned on the tap dancing it might put out the fire??

Hey. No one called fushigi! :)

message 1738: by Edward (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments Is it fushigi that I was just thinking about fushigi? I would say that's too meta, but this is Jung we are talking about.

message 1739: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Ajay’s a finalist in the Goodreads Newsletter contest. “The Case of My Pregnant Socks” got picked for judging. Congratulations, Ajay!

message 1740: by Christa VG (new)

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) Oh I loved that poem Ajay! I would vote for it :D Nice going Ajay.

message 1741: by Christa VG (new)

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) That group, !Poetry!. Is it a fun group? How many of you folk are in it? How many have gotten their poem published?

message 1742: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Christa RP, there are elements of the Poetry group that are fun. I was once quite active there, but find I enjoy the WSS far more.

P.S. I did vote for Ajay. M won one of the contests, once, if memory serves me correctly. And he's been short listed at least one other time. And M and Jim both got honourable mentions this month, too.

Congrats to you all. Well done.

message 1743: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments They would have given me a dishonorable mention, but that wasn’t an option.

message 1745: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Christa, I don’t know that I’d call Poetry a fun group. It used to be! I think it takes itself a little too seriously. I’ve gotten mad enough to leave it a couple couple of times, but I always wind up curious to know what’s going on in there, and I end up rejoining.

message 1746: by Christa VG (new)

Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) I was reading some of the threads and I would have to agree with Guy that the WSS looks like more fun.
I saw Jim and M in the honorable mentions, but I couldn't find their poems.

Edward? Are you saying you got kicked from Poetry?

message 1747: by Edward (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments Don't be silly; I've never been kicked out of anything in my life. Except that one time, and I'm not even sure where the donkey came from.

No, I was just quoting from Kat's favorite television show.

message 1748: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Oh. I failed to mention that Jim has also been shortlisted in the Poetry group's monthly poetry thing, too, if memory serves me correctly. I think more than once.

message 1749: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Jim has had a poem picked for judging in four or five contests and has won one of them.

message 1750: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Thanks M, for confirming. I thought so, but was lazy and didn't confirm my wavering memory.
