Teresa | 101 comments Hello. My name is Teresa and I live in the Greater Baltimore region. I read a lot of romance, but have recently been branching out more into non-fiction.

I often find that there are just way too many books to read and not nearly enough time to read them all. My favorite romance authors currently are those in the Historical (Regency/Victorian) age. I like the Cynsters and the Boscastles and that one series where Prinny has a "Gentleman's Club," with challenges and the loser has to get married. I forget the author and the series title. Go figure.

Also, what does "Reserved" on everything mean?

message 1468: by ShoSho , Moderator (new)

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments Welcome to the group, Teresa!
There is a series read for Cynster every month. We are reading Where the Heart Leads (Casebook of Barnaby Adair, #1) by Stephanie Laurens on Dec 2 and then the two latest ones in the series in Jan and Feb. You can find the threads here.

The second post in most threads is reserved for the mods ,just in case something needed to be added later.

I haven't read all the way to that one yet. Another question, can one book count in more than one challenge?

Teresa | 101 comments Dear Fellow Challenge-Impaired People,

My name is Teresa and I live in Baltimore, Maryland. I'm a teacher, but not in the classroom this year. I have two kids, Miranda (age 13) and Colby (age 10). I live in a collective. I'm a member of a Star Trek fan club.

I have mostly read romances in the past. Over the past year, I have been branching out a little more. I love reading almost all sorts of things and have been unable to complete only two books (that I remember). I prefer to read historical (early 19th century English) and paranormal romances, but really like ones with sports figures in them (see Jill Shalvis). I'm a re-reader. I very rarely get rid of a book (hence my overflowing bookshelves). I read middle school level books to try to keep up with what my students are reading. I'm also reading the high fantasy series The Wheel of Time.

One of the things that I'm really looking forward to in this reading group is the ability to talk about the books that I'm reading. If you feel so inclined, please check out my Challenge Notebook and see what I'm thinking about the books I'm reading. I would love to hear your comments. I mean it. I have a couple for December that I'm working on.

Thanks!

message 1490: by Colby (new)

Colby Dahlia | 5 comments My name is Nicole. I have always been an avid reader. I remember also reading. For me life was always hard and this was a means of escape for me. I started collecting books at the age of 16. My last count put me over 1600. I was living in Idaho a couple of months ago and I was miserable there. I decided to follow my heart which led me back to Florida (the place I was raised). I came home to the open arms of a man who had become my best friend. The only drawback was I had to leave my books in Idaho. I brought only a few. So now I have to continue building my collection without the bulk of them here.

I am a mother of 3. My younger 2 live with me and we are quite the chaotic bunch. My son was diagnosed with autism a couple of years ago. He is 8 now and mostly a delightful child to raise. My daughter is in the process of being diagnosed with ADHD with ODD (oppositional defiant disorder). She is a handful and I wouldn't trade her for all the jewels in the world.

My taste in reading is pretty eclectic and varies with my mood. I am a big fan of Nora Roberts. I love the fact that she does a variety of genres and is not set to a pattern. I have recently developed a love for girlie novels by Luanne Rice and Nicholas Sparks. I also like books by Lisa Jackson and Tami Hoag.

P.S. I'm a chatty one

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Welcome to RLftCI, Nicole! Thank goodness we have books to get us through the rough times. I haven't read anything by Luanne Rice - I'll have to check her out. Love Lisa Jackson and Tami Hoag, too, though I haven't read anything by them lately.
