I am not a new member but I am back!
I have had a sabbatical from life in general, but am now jumping back aboard the ship.
I probably won't be joining in any challenges for a while but I look forward to chatting with you all again and keeping tabs on how you are all doing.
Good to be back.

There's so many of us!;) Love it!
I like you am 41. I have a 20 year old son and a 12 year old son. I love this site to challenge myself and keep track of all my books. But reading really is an escape for me. It's the only time I can truly float away and relax.
We can conquer the romance novels together. :D

Jennifer, how's the Outlander series going for you?"
Well, I just started A Breath of Snow and Ashes and I have to say I have reservations. It's starting off interesting enough and I love the characters soooo much, but I'm weary of the same types of conflicts over and over. How many times can a family be raped or beat or jumped?
But the problem is they're addicting and once you start you can't stop. Plus I have a problem with reading reviews before I start the book to get spoilers, so I know the peaks and all I do is read, waiting for those things to happen. It's my own fault. LOL!

Too funny! I must admit, I read the reviews before I buy the books, but then will put the books on my TBR pile and wont even remember the reviews while I'm reading the story... but then I go back to read them before posting my own review to see who else got the same impressions I did about something. :-) This year was supposed to be my year to get back into Outlander, but it's running a little late on the starting line.

I've been on GR for a little while, but have only taken tiny baby steps into the groups. I'm mostly a lurker, but trying to move out of that shell a little bit, so I'll probably show up sporadically--a slew of posts at once, then nothing for days, then another slew. :) I'm TERRIBLE at challenges, but have lots of respect for the people who run with them!
Yikes, favorite author and book... such a hard question for a reader's group! LOL I adore Nora Roberts, but if I had to pick my favorite ever romance author it would have to be Kathleen E. Woodiwiss (her oldest books like Shanna and Ashes In the Wind; the newer ones just before she passed on were good but didn't grab me quite as much.) I also love Celeste de Blasis, Jude Devereaux, Johanna Lindsey (I'm probably dating myself a bit with this list...)
My favorite book(s) of all time, though, the ones I'd take with me on the desert island--the Harry Potter series. I'm the biggest HP nerd on the planet, ever. Lovelovelove. :)
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone here!
All the best,
Chantilly

i work as a stylist/salon manager. i have found a new passion for books. i love love love reading about love,, passion, romance, fantasy, mystery, that sort of thing.. anyway thanks for add...

LOL, Susan! *covering eyes in shock* I'm sure you're not the only one. ;) If people are interested in them (adults) I usually recommend to read the first three in a row, and if they're not captivated by the end of the third, they are allowed to quit. Allowed! LOL I'm so bossy. That's why I'm the Headmistress of a virtual Hogwarts, so I can crack the virtual whip on all my underlings (read: fellow HP addicts.) :)

I love all genres of books and still (at 35) will read most anything. On average, I can read about 3-4 books a week. Looking forward to the challenges and recommendations!

I've heard the same thing, Jennifer. And from adults, not just children LOL

I hope you both thoroughly enjoy them, Susan and Jennifer, whenever you get to them. :) I kind of envy you actually--all that magic waiting to be discovered for the first time! What fun! :)

Look forward to chatting with you more on some of the other threads!

@ Allie and Rachel I'm newbie too..I love this group...they got fun reading challenge :)

lol so lots of Jenny, Jennifer's here, this is my type of place ;)

Allie, you in my neck of the woods, relatively speaking. I'm in San Jose and have relative in Sacramento.

Jennie, I love sinking my teeth into a juicy series as well. What's your favourite??
Allie, you've got me thinking about what was the first book that git me into romance, and I can't think of one, lol! I'll have to ponder that one some more.

I have tons of favorite authors and books, but one of my top favorite authors for HR is Johanna Lindsey and UF and PNR I like Jennifer Estep and Richelle Mead.

About a year after "Sorcerer's Stone" came out I started reading the series to my grandmother and son (at that time they were 89 and 6 years old). All of us cried when (view spoiler) . It was definitely on of the best times of my life :)

They really are magical.
Hi everyone! My name is Zoe, and I live in Vermont. (It's so cold right now! It's perfect for staying inside and reading and writing.)
I love a good steamy romance, especially historical romance. Medieval is my favorite, but I do love a good Regency!
