Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 2729 comments yeah. every time im on my home page, i just add all the books i see to my to-read shelf. LOL!

message 202: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Hahaha, I'm slightly more picky about it, but if it sounds really good then I add it.

message 203: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 2729 comments Nahh, sometimes I don't just add them. I look at the title; if it doesnt catch me I look at the cover; if that doesn't catch me, I have to read the synopsis. But usually the title or cover has me.

message 204: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments I have so many to-reads and re-reads. It's crazy

message 205: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 2729 comments Haha forreal! I don't have a lot of rereads, but they seem to be increasing a lot this year.

message 206: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments Me too!

message 207: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 2729 comments :) My biggest rereading project this year is to reread the entire Harry Potter series and the companion novel. I've only reread the first one so far.

message 208: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments I've only reread the 6th one.

message 209: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 2729 comments That's my second favorite one. Deathly Hallows is the best one to me :)

message 210: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments The Beathly Hallows is my favorite, too. :) Then Order.

message 211: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Companion novel? Which one?

message 212: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 2729 comments Rae-- The Tales of Beedle the Bard

Natalie-- Yeah, OotP was pretty good, but I think that one would be somewhere around third or fourth. I've never really put them in order before...

message 213: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments If I put them in order it would go something like this:
Book:
Deathly Hallows
Order of the Phoenix
Prisoner of Azkaban
Half-Blood Prince
Goblet of Fire
Sorcerer's Stone
Chamber of Secrets. But they all get 5 stars. :)

Movies (so far):
Deathly Hallows Part 1
Goblet of Fire
Chamber of Secrets
Sorcerer's Stone
Prisoner of Azkaban
Half-Blood Prince
Order of the Phoneix

message 214: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Zakiya- well, there are several. Beedle, Quidditch Through the Ages, Fantastic Beasts and Where TO Find Them, (and I think there may be one more, but I can't remember right now)

message 215: by Zakiya (last edited Jul 12, 2011 08:41AM) (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 2729 comments Rae-- Oh yeah lol. Forgot about those :). I wish I had them!

Natalie-- Mine would be:
Books:
Deathly Hallows
Half-Blood Prince
Goblet of Fire
Order of the Phoenix
Prisoner of Azkaban
Sorcerer's Stone
Chamber of Secrets (They didn't all get five stars from me. I think 3, 4, 6, & 7 got 5's.)

Movies:
Deathly Hallows Part 2 :) we already know its gonna be EPIC.
Deathly Hallows Part 1
Order of the Phoenix
Prisoner of Azkaban
Goblet of Fire
Chamber of Secrets
Sorcerer's Stone
Half-Blood Prince

message 216: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Here's my order-
Books:
Deathly Hallows
Order of the Phoenix
HalfBlood Prince
Goblet of Fire
Prisoner of Azkaban
Sorcerer's Stone
Chamber of Secrets

Movies:
DHp1
HBP
GoF
OotP
SS
CoS
PoA

message 217: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 2729 comments Cools! Seems like we can all agree that DH has been the best for both books and movies :)

message 218: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Well people have other opinions. My older sister is quite a big fan of PoA (the books) and my brother's fave HP book is HBP

message 219: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 2729 comments Well I meant the three of us; LOL. But you have a point! One of my friends has read PoA ten times. Every time she has nothing to read, she rereads it.

message 220: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments They're good books to reread.

message 221: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments People who love Sirius love PoA, and hate OoP. :) & then I guess they enjoy GoF, too.

message 222: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 2729 comments Yep! Sirius is the reason why PoA got 5 stars from me. I think I gave OotP a 4 just because he died lol.

message 223: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments Wow, haha. My friend LOVES Sirius, and she hates OoP, hates it. But she loves PoA.

message 224: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Haahaahah, that's good reasoning. ^_^ I just didn't like PoA as much

message 225: by Zakiya (last edited Jul 12, 2011 10:05AM) (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 2729 comments Natalie- lol yeah ;)

message 226: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments I liked PoA because I love Lupin. And I love Sirius, but he's like a bad guy in it.. I don't understand why SB lovers like that one so much, becuase he's a bad guy & he's not like really in it himself.

message 227: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 2729 comments Yeah, but we get to meet him in that book. That's why we love it so much. Because a cool person is finally coming into the mix.

Lupin was awesome, too! That's another reason why I liked that book/movie. He was the only DADA teacher that they actually liked.

message 228: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments *shrugs* To each their own, I guess.

I haven't really liked Lupin since reading DH- I think of him as Harry so eloquently described him. A coward.

message 229: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 2729 comments Hmm. Something to think about.

message 230: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Yeah. It just sorta got into my thoughts. ;)

message 231: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments I love Lupin, but yeah, I don't like what he did, but I understand where he was coming from. I like pretty much all the DADA teacher's.

Reasoning:
Quirrel - AVPM made me love him. :)
Lockhart - I don't really like him
Lupin - I just love him, haha. He's Lupin.
Moody - I like Moody, not Barty Crouch Jr.
Umbridge - The only one I hate. And I mean hate.
Snape - Snape has always been my favorite.
Carrows(?) - I didn't really get to know them, but I hate them, lol. :)

message 232: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 2729 comments LOL agreeing with Carrows and Umbridge. I think there really has always been a soft spot in my heart for Snape :)

message 233: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments Severus Snape is the bravest, kindest, sexiest man on the planet. :)

message 234: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments :D

I don't know anyone who likes Umbridge.

message 235: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 2729 comments Taylor- RIGHT! lol

Natalie- I agree with everything except sexy lol :)

message 236: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments Umbridge is horid. Except when it's Joe Walker.

Haha, it's a joke. But.. I do think he is pretty sexym lol. I have issues. :)

message 237: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 2729 comments Haha we all do. I'm sure yours is not the worst :)

I think the intent was to show that he was human with human flaws, inluding the one of being overwhelmed by love. It was not the right move, but neither was it the move of a coward. At the time, Harry needed to say that, but it isn't truly accurate.

message 239: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 2729 comments Nice explanation, Kate. I agree.

message 240: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments Yes, nicely said.

message 241: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Yeah, and I get that- completely. Everyone has flaws- some more prominent than others.

message 242: by Casey (new)

Casey (andshesfearless) wow these are some really great suggestions, you could add John Green's books to the list, Looking for Alaska and Paper Towns. those and The Catcher in the Rye are my favorite books at the moment.

message 243: by John (new)

John Rykken (totenking) | 11 comments Taylor wrote: ":D

I love to hate Umbridge.

message 244: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Don't we all? :)

message 245: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments She's an amazing character to hate.

message 246: by Irene (new)

Irene (wingdesilverii) Yes she is, I think JK perpously designed her that way.

message 247: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Hahaha she's wonderfully written and those are the best characters. And a villain really HAS to be written well or else it's no good. lolz ^_^

message 248: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Exactly. There are plenty of characters in those books that I don't like, but as characters are great. Umbridge is only one example (although a great one). I love her as a character, but hate her as a "person". (I'm not really sure what words to use there, but I think you get the gist of it)

message 249: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Yeah, if the villains aren't well-written then you can't appreciate their evilness. You have to like the ability of the author to create an amazing character that you can hate in context of the story.

message 250: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I think it's a much harder thing to do to create a realistic villain than any other type of character. Because no villain is just pure evil. They are people, and like any other character they have to act like people, which many authors fail to have them do. That's why you have to appreciate a character that you detest. If you can have that sort of emotion about them, they are crafted much more finely than most.
