Nope I'm pretty sure that is not in the series.

Ummm.... lets see... I don't know really what I can say without giving away things because it is one of those books that explains as it goes... Here is the synopsis on the back of the book:

Once, a hero arose to save the world. A young man with a mysterious heritage courageously challenged the darkness that strangled the land.

He failed.

For a thousand years since, the world has been a wasteland of ash and mist ruled by the immortal emperor known as the Lord Ruler. Every revolt has failed miserably.

Yet somehow, hope survives. Hope that dares to dream of ending the empire and even the lord ruler himself. A new kind of upsirsing is being planned, one built around the ultimate caper, one that depends on the cunning of a brilliant criminal mastermind and the determination of an unlikely heroine, a street urchin who must learn to master Allomancy, the power of a Mistborn.

That is the synopsis from the back of the first book.
Haha sorry that wasn't a very good way of explaining was it? Anyway its a really good book. Its only like $8 in the U.S. I think.

message 103: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey | 505 comments Okay, yeah it makes sense if it is hard to explain without spoiloing it. It gives you a background. It actually sounds like the Hunger Games to me a little bit, which makes me intrested. Iv'e read his other books the Alcatraz series so I will probably try these, thanks!

message 104: by Kassie (new)

Kassie (kasst12) Ya now that you mention it it kinda is sort of like a hunger games type style.... except they have powers. Its really good. I just found out that (if you live in the U.S.) you can buy the boxed set of all 3 for like $17

Antje གརས པཅ Parker I HATE The outsiders, but I LOVED Speak

Courtney | 68 comments I'd like to add the St. Petersburg quartet by Gloria Whelan (Angel on the Square, Impossible Journey, Burying The Sun, the Turning)

I don't know if we should add them under series or childrens, the amazon review reccomened them for children 12 & up however I read them when I was 10 and I was just fine, I am now almost 17 and as with all Gloria Whelan's books they are just as great now as they were when I was a preteen

Rose (rose_b) | 330 comments Erin wrote: "Warriors? Why?"

Well, that is one thing I don't like about those books.

message 117: by Erin (new)

Erin (Rainpath) | 9 comments If it's a good enough series, I like that it never ends... or is very long...

message 118: by Jordan (new)

Jordan (flyinglogicmonkey) | 2426 comments That's what happened to me with the Redwall and Guardians of Ga'Hoole series. The books are just too similar.

message 119: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments The same with the Clique series (by Lisi Harrison) the last few books seem to repeat themselves and you find yourself wondering, 'is this ever gonna end?'but at least her next one (which comes out in february) is gonna be the last one

message 120: by Erin (new)

Erin (Rainpath) | 9 comments Yes, Redwall got very boring.

Chloe R.B. | 2288 comments Booklover23 wrote: "Every one would love The Book Thief by Markus Zusak"

I went to Barnes & Noble last week (I could live there I love it so much) and I saw that book on the shelf. I scanned through it and was like, "Got to read this!"
The way Zusak wrote it, that I saw, was really cool. Like, I don't really know what is was.

message 127: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments Okay, real quick. I need help! Does anyone know the name of a book where a boy saves up money to buy two dogs and then he takes them hunting and they when a competion and they die in the end? Does anybody know that book?

had to read it for english, eyes gots watery at the end :(
The Maximum Ride books are awsome!

message 130: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments It was one of the books my 3rd grade teacher read aloud to us. Not only did every single one of us cry, but so did my teacher. Mind you, he (yes, he) had been teaching for 16 years and had read the book every single year.

message 131: by Jordyn (new)

Jordyn (golden_reason) soo what's going on in this group?

message 132: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments why the emphasis on he?

message 133: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Because apparently where I live it is abnormal to have male elementary school teachers, especially those who cry. So whenever I reference this particular teacher, people are like, "Don't you mean she?" No, people. I don't.

message 134: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Great book, Jenny.

I get what you mean, Taylor. We only had two male elementary school teachers, and they both taught fourth grade. They were two of the best in the school though. (There was also a third grade one, but he retired the year before I got there.)

It wasn't until middle school that we started to really have male teachers, but even then, and even now in high school, the majority are female.

message 135: by Hannah (new)

Hannah Thanks for the list! Keep adding! I love Little Women, Pride and Prejudice, Princess Academy, Esperanza Rising, Riding Freedom, The Little Prince, Artemis Fowl, Hunger Games (Mockingjay stinks), City of Ember, Books of Bayern, Rangers Apprentice, Narnia, Inheritance Cycle, Percy Jackson, harry Potter, Immortal Nicholas Flamel, & LOTR! I will reccommend some to add! Thanks 4 doing this!

There is also the Uglies series, which I would recommend for anybody over the age 13. They are wonderful:
This is my review of the first book, if you are curious click here :) (there are no spoilers)

Uglies (Uglies, #1) by Scott Westerfeld Pretties (Uglies, #2) by Scott Westerfeld Specials (Uglies, #3) by Scott Westerfeld Extras (Uglies, #4) by Scott Westerfeld by Scott Westerfeld

message 138: by Mandie (new)

Mandie | 355 comments The uglies series is okay so far. Have you read all of them? I have read the first two but uglies was the best. I have been meaning to get the others but I couldn't find it at the shop and honestly, I don't care as much as I did before what happens. You should read The Secret Hour. It is also by him and is a different genre of book but I liked it better. I read it last week.

I would also recommend Paranormalcy. I read it a few weeks ago and it was really good. It was better than I thought it would be. I stayed up to 1am reading it and I only do that with my favourite books.

Yes, ive read them all now. I liked them. Id give the series a 3/5. It was enjoyable-I would recommend them. But the first was the best.

message 142: by Nini (new)

Nini | 2 comments The mortal instruments and the Gone series are awesome. The Hunger Games series is awesome aswell. I'll try reading the other books. I read Inkheart, I just don't remember if I did...

message 143: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca You should add the series Wicked Lovely and Pendragon to that list. Two totally opposite series but both really good!

message 144: by Emma (new)

Emma | 17 comments The Warrior series! those are the best book ever.

message 145: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments I sobbed. My 3rd grade teacher read it to us out loud. He had read it every year for 16 years and he still cried every time. I had to go to the next door classroom to ask for another box of tissues because so many of us were crying.

♫♫☺Allie☺♫♫ (alliwicious) | 1115 comments My friends 4th grade class read it and only one person cried. (And that happened to be one of those guys who acts like they're all tough.) :D
