Shannon (theholyterror) | 313 comments I finished Divine Misdemeanors (Meredith Gentry, #8) by Laurell K. Hamilton last night, here's my review if anyone is curious, and now I'm starting The Dead Girls' Dance (The Morganville Vampires, #2) by Rachel Caine . I read the first Morganville book a while ago and I can't remember what happened at the end. I think I have to dig it out and read the last few chapters to refresh. I hate when that happens.

Caine usually has a preface to each book to remind you of where the last left off. Nice, since she tends towards "to be continued" sorts of endings!

I just got DM in from B&N today. I'm almost afraid to read your review first!

Clerah I'm reading Storm Born by Richelle Mead. I'm getting to a part where I don't want to want to put the book down and do things that I know I should - ugh. Go away responsibilities, go away!

You are opening the flood gate for everyone's favorites! ;-) Are you looking for something more/less romance, more/less action, more/less sexual situations? Do you like weres, shifters, vamps...or does it matter?

Without knowing exactly what you are looking for and after reviewing your shelves, and seeing what your taste seems to be--here are a few of my favorite series that I did not see on your shelves. I will put the first book in the series:

Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost --good combo of romance and action with your HEA

Mona Lisa Awakening (Monere Children of the Moon, book 1) by Sunny --different take on vampires and shifters. Lots of action, sex and violence. This is one of my new favorite series.

Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse #1) by Charlaine Harris --also a good combo of action and romance.

Full Moon Rising (Riley Jenson Guardian, #1) by Keri Arthur --werewolves and vampires. I have read 4 of the 7 (I think) and was hooked from the first chapter. Lots of action and the main character, Riley is very promiscuous.

Gosh, there are so many--I don't want to overwhelm you. I might have other suggestions once you clarify what you are looking for. I am sure you will gets tons of recs here.

I put off reading Storm Born forever--it is one of my new favorite series.

Silvana~Duchess of Avonlea~ Barbara wrote: "I'm looking for a new paranormal series? Any suggestions?"

Oh I know. I know the answer!
Barbara I had a look at your shelves and this is what I suggest.
Immortals After Dark series by Kresley Cole (PNR) A must read!
Lords of the Underworld series by Gena Showalter (PNR)Enjoyed the series.
Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost (PNR) Loved it. Can’t wait 4 next book.
City of Bones (Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare (YA PNR)

I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) I am just sitting down to read The Darkest Night (Lords of the Underworld, #1) by Gena Showalter and there is a foreword from the author and it is basically welcoming us to the Lords of the Underworld Trilogy. I just looked and there are more than 3 books--was she originally just going to do 3 and decided to continue? Does any one know?

I recommend the Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh. The first book in the series is Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling, #1) by Nalini Singh . Ignore the ugly covers - the story and romance is great!

Clerah Heather wrote: "I've read her other series Vampire Academy and really liked it. Have you read that one and is Storm Born as good as thouse books?"

I have not read her other series, so other than hearing that it is a great series, I can't really comment on how it compares to the Storm Born series. I can tell you though that this book is very good, and is getting better as I go along. I would def. recommend it, even at this stage of the book that I'm in.

Yeah I have too, even though I had heard great things about it. I can't even tell you how long I've had the series on my book shelf. Anyhow I'm really enjoying it so far and am starting to wonder why I waited so long to start it *shakes head*

I recommend the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. The first book is Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse, #1) by Charlaine Harris
If you want a lighter PNR read that is funny I suggest the Queen Betsy Series by MaryJanice Davidson. The first book is Undead and Unwed (Undead, #1) by MaryJanice Davidson
Another series I like that is lighthearted as well but the central charcaters are witches, is the hexy series by Linda Wisdom. Many of the secondary characters are a variety of the paranormal. The first book is [image error]
Oh, a new series that is good and funny is the Jane Jameson series by Molly Harper. The first book is Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs (Jane Jameson, #1) by Molly Harper
I am currently reading Soulless (The Parasol Protectorate #1) by Gail Carriger and really like it so far. Hope this helps Barbara! :)

It seems like with this one though things just kind of pick up where the last book left off, too bad I don't remember where it left off at! Unless she explains thing within the next 10 pages or so I'm going to have to go find my copy of Glass Houses. No big deal though, I'm sure I just need to skim the end and it'll come back to me.

Alycia, I read the Hunger Games to and really loved it as well. And if you DO decide to read the second one you won't be disappointed. It (Catching Fire) answers a lot of questions from the first book. I really enjoyed it. Some of the people I know that have read it, thought that the first book was better. But I think the second one has a lot of insight to the first one. It's more in depth. And it does have the same kind of adventure in it as the first. So you won't be disappointed. If you do read it I hope you like it :D

FlibBityFLooB I'm stuck at home due to a blizzard (streets aren't plowed). Emergency vacation reading day, hooray! :)

I'm still trying to make it through The Taste of Night The Second Sign of the Zodiac by Vicki Pettersson and figured I would also start Lucinda, Darkly (Demon Princess Chronicles, #1) by Sunny .

Tonya -- I enjoyed the Mona Lisa series, but was disappointed with book 4. I am curious how you'll feel :)

message 4536: by Nita (new)

Nita (gillnit) Finished Vulnerable (Little Goddess, #1) by Amy Lane . Didn't really like any of the characters and the book needed a lot of editing, but I liked some of the plot and the world the author created. I gave it 3 stars, though I would have given it 2 1/2 stars if I had the option.

Going to start Hot Spell (Includes Demon World, #2; Breed Series, #6; The Guardians, #1) by Emma Holly now.

umm... well I'm not that far so it's hard to tell, but if you haven't read Blue Moon yet you'll want to read it before you read this one, cause it's the third one, and I've read Blue Moon and find that even I'm getting confused cause it's been so long since I read the last one that I'm forgeting things. But so far I think that I like it better than the second but not the first book. But there are some new characters that I'm interested in learning more about and so thats helping me get into it. So when I get further I'll let you know how it is.

Sure, Your welcome :D Book 3 of the Hunger Games trilogy comes out next August (2010). I can't wait for that to come out. Suzanne Collins has another series called the Underland Chronicles. And I have heard really good things about that one to. It's more of a younger YA book series though, It's about sewer rats. I might have to read that one to my kids :D Thanks again, and I hope you enjoy the second book as much as I did.

message 4546: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments FlibBityFLooB, I'm sorry to say that I don't think it gets that much better. Her obsession with her ex drove me crazy...it made me think she was very selfish. And the other characters are never really fleshed out. I liked Regan. She made things interesting for awhile, and it made me hope that Petersson was finally hitting on something good, but it was short lived. I dunno. I almost like the books, but I don't feel invested in the characters. At all. Not one jot. After reading 4 books, that's sort of an accomplishment!

message 4547: by MsBeaglely (new)

MsBeaglely | 118 comments I read the first book in the Zodiac series back in 2007 & wasn't impressed. It took me forever to get through the book & there were parts of the story that I really didn't like. However, I rarely dismiss a series based on the first book and I have since aquired the next 3 books in the series via book swaps. Unfortunately, I have not been motivated to read any of them.
