Just finished the entire Serenity series by Marissa Farrar. Vampire romance/ fiction. Some witches
I just started Soulless. I have to admit it's a bit difficult for me to understand sometimes (as a non-native English reader). A lot of words you don't use in everyday language...."sipping raspberry cordial", uhm okay......
That's the thing with steampunk... it's filled with Victorian-era language not usually seen... and that's before they start making up technology words... I think

Jenny Bennett’s Arcadia Bell Series is great. I’m on book 4 which is the last one. I love these types of books such as Kate Daniels, Mercy Thompson, Downside Ghosts, Cat and Bones. If anyone has any other suggestions I’d appreciate it. Has anyone read the October Day series?

I have not read the Fever series - do you recommend it? I like the idea of two main characters together throughout the series solving things etc not too keen on a series with different characters in each book or off again on again relationships.

I also second the Charley Davidson series, it's so fun and witty. I personally did not care for the Fever books, but I know many people did.

Taking a break from PNR, I enjoy thoughtful fantasy novels. I stumbled across an amazingly quirky author whose narration is humorously poetic, while mocking somewhat serious philosophical dilemmas. Sounds heavy, but really I find his stories so sarcastically funny... and the elements of fantasy still provide a good break from reality. My favorite of his books is “Letters from a Shipwreck in the Sea of Suns and Moons”, so I picked up another and am currently reading “The Origin of Birds in the Footprints of Writing” by Raymond St. Elmo. And if you befriend this author, he’s really quite the character. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
No steamy romance, but you’ll have quite a few clever laughs if you need a break from the hot and heavy. Just a suggestion because that’s where I am now!
I'm on a PNR (and romance in general) break as well, Amy... been reading a bunch of High/Epic Fantasy, historical mysteries, and some other genres... only Urban Fantasy I'm getting to are series I'm not caught up on and New Releases...My October reads include:
