Claudia Ayala (claudia_ayala) | 149 comments Finished White Hot (Hidden Legacy, #2) by Ilona Andrews and loved it. I want to know what happens with all main and secondary characters. Really enjoyed reading it.

Well, I've loved almost everything they write, but this one got me hooked.

Trisha | 2 comments I love IA books, but sadly I'm only able to mostly do audio due to an illness. I would love to delve into their new series, but I don't like the narrator they have for all their books. I started off reading most of The Kate Daniels and will tough out the last on audio. I've tried both The Sweep series & Burn, but I had to stop. The Sweep was really bad. I wish they had different narrators for the different books, but it not my place... :/

Now I have a HUGE book hangover from listening to The Red Sister.! It was sooo good that I've listened to it twice. Highly recommend

Deborah Ferguson | 1 comments I've been reading the Black City Saint series by Richard A. Knaak. Just finished the second. Urban Fantasy set in Prohibition Chicago with a great and sometimes creepy cast! Nick Medea was once St
George and the dragon still haunts him. You'll especially enjoy Fetch! Black City Saint by Richard A. Knaak Black City Demon by Richard A. Knaak

Timelord Iain I just finished Automatic Detective by A. Lee Martinez... had a bit of trouble tracking all the mutants and robots in the first half, but the second half made sense of it all... time to move on to a different author for a bit... Starting The Never Hero by T. Ellery Hobbes

message 36855: by Soo (new)

Soo (silverlyn) I started the audiobook for Never Hero and I didn't care for the narration much. Let me know how the story goes! I think I'll pick up the ebooks instead for that series.

message 36856: by Timelord Iain (new)

Timelord Iain I haven't minded the story so far... but I can accept a lot when I do half of my listening while stocking shelves at work... free reading time...

I'm not too far in yet, so far its just like a contemporary book about PTSD... I think the fantastical elements will start manifesting soon once the MC gets over the trauma... I hope so anyway... I hope the timeline isn't overly important to following the story, because I'm terrible at remembering dates in audiobooks where I can't easily double-check... and the way it starts in 2003, jumps back to 1996, then moves to 2005 has me a little worried with the temporal powers mentioned in the blurb... we'll see...

Debbie M | 50 comments Just started Born of Vengence by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Lisa | 28 comments I just finished Chloe Neill's Chicagoland series and really enjoyed it overall, though I rated the stories 3-4 stars individually. I really enjoyed the main heroine, Merit, and her BFF together. Loved the finale, though I would have welcomed a longer epilogue. Blade Bound (Chicagoland Vampires, #13) by Chloe Neill

Now I've just started Setta Jay's Guardians of the Realms series, with Ecstasy Unbound (The Guardians of the Realms, #1) by Setta Jay . Good so far. Lots of characters to get used to, so we'll see if it levels out.

message 36859: by Timelord Iain (new)

Timelord Iain I still need to read Blade Bound (Chicagoland Vampires, #13) by Chloe Neill ... sad to see the series end... I enjoyed it more for the characters than the slow-plodding political story-arc... almost quit during the dark days of Drink Deep (Chicagoland Vampires, #5) by Chloe Neill & Biting Cold (Chicagoland Vampires, #6) by Chloe Neill (view spoiler)... thankfully that resolved itself quickly, and this series has a spin-off continuation coming that I will hopefully enjoy...

message 36860: by Timelord Iain (new)

Timelord Iain Making more progress on The Never Hero... as expected, its kinda reading like a book version of Chronicle... that found footage movie where kids gain superpowers and there's a big fight at the end between 2 of them when one goes super-villain...

And Soo's comments have made me super-critical of the narrator... D'oh... especially when he is ov-er--e-nun-ci-a-ting... takes me out of the story a bit

message 36861: by Soo (last edited Jun 05, 2017 11:07PM) (new)

Soo (silverlyn) The pacing of the story for Never Hero basically makes me want an ebook/print because I can't skim-read an audiobook. =D Story seems to have a lot of promise so I will give it a go later this year. My to read now list is huge. Gotta make a dint in that once I finish Haven.

message 36862: by KritikaB (new)

KritikaB | 103 comments I finished Death Magic (World of the Lupi, #8) by Eileen Wilks ... luv Rule & Lily. Then, recently finished Jake (Immortals of New Orleans, Book 8) by Kym Grosso ... enjoyed it.
Now, I'm on Eleventh Grave in Moonlight (Charley Davidson, #11) by Darynda Jones . My next books will probably be Mortal Ties (World of the Lupi, #9) by Eileen Wilks , The Blood Alchemist (The Final Formula #2) by Becca Andre and Blood Destiny (Blood Curse, #1) by Tessa Dawn .

message 36863: by Timelord Iain (new)

Timelord Iain @Bunnycore: I try not to plan too far ahead, since my desires change frequently... I change my mind right up to the point I add the book to my phone or open it on my Kindle... and reserve the right to change my mind within the first couple chapters... then I'm locked in until I finish it... I start thinking about the next book as I approach the end of my current ebook/audiobook...

That's why I haven't participated in any monthly reading plan/challenge threads...

Yah! Bookstore! Except mine is now: bookstore, Dollar Tree, Audible, Overlook, Amazon.

So, my local dollar store has a wide variety of books for a $1. I go home with a huge box ever time.

Timelord Iain I generally just dig through my TBR shelves on here... I'm a hermit... if I wasn't walking for excercise I'd barely ever see the sun... that's why my kindle and audible are amazing

message 36866: by Timelord Iain (new)

Timelord Iain People and US Weekly are books right?... I'm kidding

Yup! I tend to get 25-40 at a time. Hahahah

message 36868: by Soo (new)

Soo (silverlyn) They have always sold some kid books and not all dollar stores do this. You'll have to see where it happens in your area. =)

message 36875: by Soo (new)

Soo (silverlyn) Personally, I think the author has gotten pretty sidetracked on the series for Anita Blake but I have hope! It seems like it may be going back to a more plot and less emotional hangups. I really like the mystery/action aspect of the series. I'd hate to get totally disenchanted with it. I think my intro to Anita was Obsidian Butterfly. That one is good!

message 36876: by Soo (new)

Soo (silverlyn) Merry starts of messy entanglements & relationships. Anita became that way. Personally, I feel like too much of the author's personal life went into her stories but that'll happen. I think it's evening out now. The endings of the books still suck but I enjoy them overall. I think I'm behind by one book on Merry.
