Stacey Jeffreys (staceyjeffreys) | 8 comments I am reading The Tale of Atlantis. It was a weird, slow start but 30% in and it is finally picking up. A very lush world is being created, which I enjoy.

Christine | 1127 comments Trying to catch up two series as the year ends: In print I'm reading Shattered Circle (Persephone Alcmedi, #6) by Linda Robertson which is a good series, but there are several others I like better. In audio, I'm listening Dark Skye (Immortals After Dark #14) by Kresley Cole because is there any better way to end the year than with Kresley Cole and Robert Petkoff?

Christine | 1127 comments Starting Bewitched, Bothered, and Biscotti (A Magical Bakery Mystery, #2) by Bailey Cates . These paranormal cozy-type mysteries don't usually work for me, but I enjoyed the first one enough to give the second one a go.

message 34462: by Shannon (new)

Shannon | 65 comments Finished Rebel (Renegades, #2) by Skye Jordan . After reading Reckless I didn't think anything could be as good. But Wes and Rubi's story came darn close. It was sweet and sexy and all in between.
Now reading The Darkest Touch (Lords of the Underworld, #11) by Gena Showalter . Really looking forward to Torin's story.

message 34463: by Kate (new)

Kate | 43 comments Just read 3 by Jennifer Armentrout, loved them all. Her writing is improving immensely and it was good in the first place. Lots of humor in these:White Hot Kiss(Dark Elements 1) Stone Cold Touch(dark elements 2) and Wicked. The Dark Elements series involves demons and wardens/gargoyles. Really good love triangle and interesting world. The second one actually got some tears out of me which isn't easy. Good banter, great characters. Team Roth!!! Wicked by J.A. Was awesome. Absolutely hilarious, laugh out loud. Dark Elements is YA and Wicked is adult even though she didn't use her J Lynn adult pen name.

message 34464: by J (new)

J Reading Eclipse (Twilight, #3) by Stephenie Meyer . I'll probably finish it tonight. I'm so glad I gave this series another chance, because to me, it's really good. This is the best installment in the series so far. Also listening to Matched (Matched, #1) by Ally Condie on audiobook and reading The String Quartet by Dan Hupalo on my Kindle because the author gave it to me for free.

I also just finished Blood Genesis (Blood Curse #0.5) by Tessa Dawn , a prequel to the series. I'm looking forward to starting it as soon as I have time. :)

It's unusual for me to reread a book that's part of a series out of order (If want to reread a series I almost always read all the books from the start), but I just wanted to feel my heart tug and rip and I have to say, this book is doing a great job at it!

Reckless Reckless (Renegades, #1) by Skye Jordan is the first book in the Renegades series. I finished it and then turned around and read it again. That good for me.

message 34488: by Brantwijn (new)

Brantwijn Serrah Well, I'm new to the group and it just so happens I'm not reading a paranormal romance or urban fantasy at the moment. I've just started The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty. Controversial to say the least. I'll probably get a petty decent blog post out of it. My own personal take so far is that it is essentially written as an uninhibited and unadulterated exploration of the author's own personal fantasies, couched in the "safety" of a fictional fantasy world...which is just fine, in my opinion. Lots of readers seem to either love the book or loathe it entirely. I think I'll be giving it a high review when I'm done, because it is very well written and I think it well achieves the author's intent of lush eroticism. In any case...I'm enjoying the read so far.

Just before this I read A Conspiracy of Alchemists, which disappointed me. It wasn't -bad-, per se, but I was exceptionally interested in it as urban fantasy/steampunk, and it just fell flat with overused cliches, predictability, and really nothing that stood out as unique or interesting. To be fair, I did listen to it in audiobook and the narrator was absolutely atrocious, so maybe that had an affect on my experience.

message 34494: by Christine (new)

Christine | 1127 comments I finished Dead Silence (The Body Finder, #4) by Kimberly Derting which I felt left a few too many loose ends to make me completely satisfied, unless she intends to write more in the series.

Up next is Foxglove Summer (Peter Grant, #5) by Ben Aaronovitch in audio and I Am the Mission (The Unknown Assassin, #2) by Allen Zadoff in print.
