Sillylittlefishey | 1025 comments I just finished my advance copy of Midnight Crossroad (Midnight, Texas, #1) by Charlaine Harris . It was just ok for me. I didn't like the 3rd person naration, but I eventually got used to it. The characters were interesting, the mystery well-written, but honestly it read like a cozy mystery ... and the names of these characters Bobo, Fiiji, Creek???

But now I get to read the advance copy I've been dying to get my hands on ....

Sixth Grave on the Edge (Charley Davidson, #6) by Darynda Jones

Sonya Heaney I'm enjoying this Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse, #1) by Charlaine Harris as a reread more than I thought.
I was expecting to hate it years later, but as long as I can make myself stop thinking about the TV show (not a fan of it), I can enjoy the book!

I knew from all of the rumors that he was dashing and sexy, but what I didn't expect was how funny he turned out to be! I loved how Gabaldon wrote the dialogue. (view spoiler)

Sonya Heaney Merry wrote: "LOL! I resisted the urge to read this series for a long time, for no other reason really than thinking the MC's name was so silly, but was finally persuaded to give it a try. I've read the first four books and have now decided to have a rest. I may continue one day. I'm not really a fan of Charlaine Harris' writing style. Also not really enough bang for my (not inconsiderable for the Kindle versions) buck(s)! I do actually like Sookie, though, plus the bar setting. Bill and Eric, not so much.

Did you like it first time around, Sonya? Or are you afraid you'll hate it again?!"

I read the first half dozen books in 2008, back before I even knew paranormal romance was a thing. It was sort of my introduction to the genre. So I really liked it back then because it was so new to me!

Second time round I think it’s fun, but there’s no way I’d be crazy obsessed with it if this was my first time reading. I actually looked at buying a Kindle version for this reread, but it’s pretty expensive and I have a box set of the paperbacks (from before they started putting the TV actors on the covers).

But a lot of the fun has been taken out of reading now because I know what’s going to happen, and I also keep picturing the actors (some of them seriously miscast, in my opinion) instead of the characters…

I liked season one of the show well enough, but after that, all those vibrating magical characters and all the speed-sex... Wowsers!

I'm hearing a lot of Tybalt love *yay!* I'm only a few books into the series - so don't spoil it - but he's just dropped the 'you were telling me untruths but you didn't know it' line, - 'so we can proceed' whatever that means?

He's the reason I keep reading ;)

I was amazed at how well the author made the "old flame returns" plot line work. I thought I wouldn't like this book at all because that's a plot line I usually can't stand, and it didn't make sense why it would ever be an issue for Eve and Roarke anyway. Fortunately, JD Robb set it up in such a way that it really worked for me.

Christine | 1127 comments I finished both Three Days to Dead (Dreg City, #1) by Kelly Meding (audio) and Dorothy Must Die (Dorothy Must Die, #1) by Danielle Paige (print). Both were good, but not nearly as captivating as I had hoped. I think I enjoyed the Dorothy book more, for it's different spin on Oz.

Now, I'm starting The Devil You Know (Felix Castor, #1) by Mike Carey in audio. I'm only a few chapter in, but so far I really like the author's writing style and I love Felix's dry sense of humor.

In print, I'm trying to continuing wrapping up old series so I started A Love Untamed (Feral Warriors, #7) by Pamela Palmer

I have to look into that author.
