That is the drag with books coming out a year after the previous one. I always have to review the previous book by at least the last 75% just to remember what was going on. I am thinking that while I am reading Never Fade (The Darkest Minds, #2) by Alexandra Bracken because I am loving it and feel so into the story and characters and I know I will forget them before September. (Ironic if you know the story).

i think ur reread is a great idea. it's been a while for me since i've read the Mercy series and i've forgotten some of the characters and whats been happening. i'm following this one ok, but it would be nice to remember more than i do ;D

With the BDB, I tend to just read the parts with the main characters and skip over the villains. Probably not the best thing to do, but I only really ever read them for the relationships.

With such a complicated series, it does really help. :)

LOL! I just read The Darkest Minds (The Darkest Minds, #1) by Alexandra Bracken and Never Fade (The Darkest Minds, #2) by Alexandra Bracken in December and I'm already planning a need to reread before In the Afterlight (The Darkest Minds, #3) by Alexandra Bracken

I had the same feeling when I read the Forever Song.

I heard that there wasn't any recap in Dreams of Gods & Monsters (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #3) by Laini Taylor
which scares me a bit, especially with what happens at the end of Days of!

Give it a try after the first book. I was not that interested but had heard so much from readers here that I kept going and was glad I did.

I know! I've been debating a reread...re-listen...whatever...of Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor and Days of Blood & Starlight (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #2) by Laini Taylor before tackling Dreams of Gods & Monsters (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #3) by Laini Taylor

I read a recap here: http://recaptains.blogspot.com/2013/0...

but still think I might benefit from listening to the whole thing again if I can find the time.

Christine | 1127 comments I just finished Enraptured (Eternal Guardians, #4) by Elisabeth Naughton . I enjoyed it, but this series just doesn't seem to be working for me as well as it does for so many others. Now, because I think I need a change of pace from romance, I'm trying a total unknown to me Morgue Drawer Four (Morgue Drawer, #1) by Jutta Profijt

Also reading Blue-Blooded Vamp (Sabina Kane, #5) by Jaye Wells . I will finish this series yet!

I am very picky when it comes to audiobooks and have found the following series with the best narrators. After listenening to one book, I absolutely had to get the rest of the series in audio (even though I have read and own each book.)

Have you listened to Demon from the Dark (Immortals After Dark, #10) by Kresley Cole ? Any audiobook in this series is absolutely AMAZING. The absolute perfection of the narration only makes the series that much better.

The second series with a GREAT narrator is Kiss of the Highlander (Highlander, #4) by Karen Marie Moning

The third is Beast Behaving Badly (Pride, #5) by Shelly Laurenston

message 33171: by LilMisGrayBrisk (new)

LilMisGrayBrisk | 502 comments I finished Up From the Grave Up From the Grave (Night Huntress #7) by Jeaniene Frost . I liked it overall, but the last 15% was disappointing. It was a bit of the same old, same old and it didn't feel like the last book. Everything was kind of wrapped up, but not in a totally satisfying way, IMO.

I need a break from PNR, so The Plains of Passage The Plains of Passage (Earth's Children, #4) by Jean M. Auel is next.

Eleighna, I LOVE Robert Petkoff's narration of the IAD series. I switched to the audio with book four or five and at first I thought "A romance narrated by a man? How awkward." But he is so good. I've since listened to a few other romances narrated by men, but he is by far my favorite so far.

Now I'm reading Midnight Crossroad (Midnight, Texas, #1) by Charlaine Harris , also an advance copy, but I'm really hesitant to after the way Sookie ended. I'm also really struggling with it because it's in the 3rd person....

I couldn't get an ARC of that because they limited it to only a few countries! :(

I'm guessing she changed the POV because first person is practically considered a crime worthy of capital punishment in adult fiction these days! It would be odd reading Harris in third person, but there aren't many authors whose first person POV I can cope with.

I heard that as well. I can't believe how good these books are and I'm sad that book three is it. I guess it's better than dragging a series out, but a few more wouldn't hurt ;)

message 33193: by Christine (new)

Christine | 1127 comments Almost done listening to Blood Rites (The Grey Wolves, #2) by Quinn Loftis and this is one of those that really makes me scratch my head when I see the reviews. The plot is decent enough, but I can't stand half of the dialogue and one of the main character's best friends has to be one of the most annoying and unlikeable characters I've ever come across. A lot of people seem to love her, but she just don't work for me. And since she'd the focus of the next two book, I don't think I'll be continuing this series.

I've had a couple so-so audio books in a row, so I have no clue what to listen to next.

I haven't. It's on my radar, but I'm trying to decide if I want to listen to it now, or wait until the third book comes out next year so I can binge listen to three in a row. It seems that if I only have 1 or 2 books in a series to read/listen to I forget a lot of what happened by the time book three comes out.

These are an automatic buy for me.
I cannot wait until 5/6 because Dreams of a Dark Warrior (Immortals After Dark, #11) by Kresley Cole is released on audible (one of my favorites in this series.)

Then on 8/5 Dark Skye (Immortals After Dark, #14) by Kresley Cole comes out and I have been waiting patiently (kind of...) for this book.
