♥ Ashleigh ♥ Contrary to popular belief I'm not actually mad! (cheshire_red) finally finished Spirit Gate (Crossroads, #1) by Kate Elliott , only took me like 3 weeks. have to say im not the biggest fan but i read the whole thing anyways - mainly cause i bought it and i heard kate elliot was meant to be a pretty awesome writer.... im not willing to give up on her yet, but i think i'll try some of her other work instead next time.

now reading Stormdancer (The Lotus War, #1) by Jay Kristoff which i have been looking forward to forever! and so far not too bad. i just need to get use to the Japanese words that are randomly chucked in throughout the book, alright so there not actually random, im just not use to them as of yet. i have to keep googling what they mean. lol.

Now Living with the Dead (Women of the Otherworld, #9) by Kelley Armstrong , which doesn't look all that promising to me...

Oh, Dark Hunters are cool! I take every book with some trepidation, because after 20+ books I think there's nothing that will amaze me, and each one turns out to be great and different. Especially Acheron and Styxx. I remember crying throughout Acheron and thinking Styxx is bad. But after I read the last book my attitude changed to both of them.

Just started this one!

message 32368: by Christine (new)

Christine | 1127 comments I finished Dead Spots (Scarlett Bernard, #1) by Melissa F. Olson which seemed like such a good premise on the surface. But then I started thinking about it and thought myself right out of really enjoying. Too many things just didn't make real sense or didn't ring true for me. That being said I am giving the second book Trail of Dead (Scarlett Bernard, #2) by Melissa F. Olson a chance.

I was about to read Archangel's Kiss Archangel's Kiss (Guild Hunter, #2) by Nalini Singh when I realized it is the second book in the Guild Hunter series. Can they be read as stand-alones or do I need to start from the beginning? Thanks for your help.

I would not recommend reading out of order. I wouldn't consider them stand-alones.

I would recommend reading them in order. There's a lot of world building in the first one, and I don't remember how well she recaps it in the second book. Plus book one is really essentially in establishing the dynamic and relationship between the main characters. You probably could read book 2 without reading book 1, but as with most series there will subtext in book 2 that you'll miss out on.
