Christine | 1127 comments Did I mention that Changes (The Dresden Files, #12) by Jim Butcher was awesome?! Now I'm reading Ghost Story (The Dresden Files, #13) by Jim Butcher and loving it so far as well. I've even picked up a new favorite phrase "she's a few bubbles off plumb".

I also finished listening to The Enemy (The Enemy, #1) by Charlie Higson and that was surprisingly good. It's YA but at times these young kids didn't seem so young at all. Plus the author pulled no punches killing kids off.

Now I'm listening to Marked (Eternal Guardians, #1) by Elisabeth Naughton and I'm not sure if it's the actual writing or the narrator's delivery, but parts of it are a little cheesy. I'm really leaning towards the problem being the narrator's delivery at this point....

message 31352: by Shona (new)

Shona (shonahusk) I'm reading A Clockwork Christmas by J.K. Coi (steampunk anthology) and before that I read Turn Coat (The Dresden Files, #11) by Jim Butcher . I love the Dresden Files :)

Turn Coat was so good and Changes is a great follow up.

I have never heard of this book and thank you for calling this series to my attention.
Thanks!

message 31356: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (wendyfraser65) | 81 comments I have been in somewhat of a reading funk. So many great books to read but making the decision of what to read does me in and I end up reading nothing or re-reading! Does not help my TBR shelf at all. Anyway, I finished a re-read of Mind Game (GhostWalkers, #2) by Christine Feehan .
I picked up and put down Amaryllis (St. Helen's, #1) by Jayne Castle , couldn't get into that at all. So last night I picked up Born of Silence (The League, #5) by Sherrilyn Kenyon and (YAY!) ended up reading until 3am. Haven't done that in a long long time. I am over half-way through and it is excellent. Looking forward to my big read time this afternoon.

Does anyone else struggle with deciding what to read next? Sometimes it is overwhelming the amount of books I want to read (especially keeping up with series).

message 31357: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (wendyfraser65) | 81 comments @ Shari Kay

I gave up on challenges. I found I was just getting more and more books to read and not reading what I already had. 95% of my 'to be read' list is books I OWN and I haven't read yet! It is very difficult because I bring home 10 books a week from work (a public library) and I don't read the books I own. Spoilt for choice is what I am and it still doesn't help me decide what to read :)

Boy, do I agree, Anika. This is a real gem in a world of pnr books. Max is a hot, sexy, dangerous shifter and yet he is one of the most romantic, vulnerable characters I've ever read. I don't know how anyone can read this series and not be in love with Max. This series is a story arc so you must read in order and read beyond book 1. It gives you a good background to the lives of the two main characters & their relationship, but this series really kicks up a notch in the following books.

message 31372: by Christine (new)

Christine | 1127 comments I finished Marked (Eternal Guardians, #1) by Elisabeth Naughton and it was sadly just okay for me. I really liked the premise and some moments in the book were great. But I think the writing didn't quite click for me.

I loved The Last Boyfriend (Inn BoonsBoro, #2) by Nora Roberts . I read one or two other Nora Roberts books and was never overly impressed (I do love In Death, though), but this trilogy is totally selling me on her writing. Now, I have to convince my husband to take for a stay at the real Inn Boonsboro sometime....

message 31373: by Christine (new)

Christine | 1127 comments Also, I am loving Ghost Story (The Dresden Files, #13) by Jim Butcher . I like watching Harry try to figure out the rules and the memory of his teen years is fascinating.

I'm also listening to Secrets of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #3) by Diana Rowland as a refresher before finally, finally getting to Sins of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #4) by Diana Rowland and Touch of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #5) by Diana Rowland

message 31374: by Teri (new)

Teri (mdefined) The Immortal Highland, Book 6 in the Highlander series by Karen Marie Moning.

While it is not as erotically active as most of the paranormal romance I lean towards, it is a good bet at fulfilling the dominate male role with a bit of magic.

Sorry, a little late on this thread but I was away for the weekend. Is this series on the erotic side at all? The synopsis reads that way a bit.

If I recall correctly books 13 and 14 were missing something, but things pick up again in book 15, and I gave #16 a five star rating.

And...I love Toby and Tybalt.

i'v only read one book so my answer may be wrong.
but its a series based on this skeleton (who's known as Skulduggery) that solves crimes, has kick ass powers and an awesome sarcastic humour. he also has a human sidekick who's also quiet amusing and living a double life.
I really enjoyed the book, its something i'd recommend people give a go!!
