message 24808: by Katya (last edited Jul 09, 2012 12:49AM) (new)

Katya | 645 comments Just finished Fighting the Undertow by Eden Rivers

This is a story about a couple who bring quite a bit of baggage to the table. But Val has to come to accept Ian's group of friends who are a big part of his life. Shall we say they are all "friends with benefits?"

The whole scenario is a little ridiculous but I was surprised at how good reading about the relationship was. I really enjoyed the slow progression of the two H/h and how they slowly fall in love. The friends grow to really care for Val and it is almost believable.

In the end...Worth the read.

Christine | 1127 comments I finished Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #1) by Stacia Kane and I loved it. I loved the story, I loved the writing, I loved the poor wounded messed-up characters. Hands down best book I've read so far this years.

Now, to hope that A Madness of Angels (Matthew Swift #1) by Kate Griffin is even half as good...

Christy (christy_kennedy) | 184 comments Just wrapped up Hunted (Dark Protectors, #3) by Rebecca Zanetti . Starts off slow, builds speed has some silly sub-plot points, but the action scenes made up for them. Character development is interesting. 3.5 stars overall.

Can't wait for my copy of Shadow of Night (All Souls Trilogy, #2) by Deborah Harkness to arrive. Love this series! Then on to the much anticipated Gunmetal Magic (Kate Daniels, #5.5) by Ilona Andrews . Whoot!!

Nope I haven't read it yet either....I'm a little weary of it knowing that it started as a Twilight fanfic..

message 24825: by Sillylittlefishey (last edited Jul 09, 2012 04:52PM) (new)

Sillylittlefishey | 1025 comments I finished Memory in Death (In Death, #22) by J.D. Robb ...I loved the premise and the begining of the book...I love seeing Roarke's protective side. But it kind of went to meh land because the killer was pretty obvious and it annoyed me that everyone appeared to think she was innocent.

I also finished Don't Call Me Angel by Alicia Wright Brewster which was pretty decent for a novella...especially for a first in a series.

Now I'm having some Christmas in July..almost done with An Enchanted Season (Includes Psy-Changeling, #0.5; Murphy Sisters, #1) by Maggie Shayne ...I picked it up for the psy-changeling prequel and was completely blown away by it so I had to add the whole series to my TBR list....I'm on the last story in the book now....and it's kind of boring so far.

I read An Enchanted Season this spring and have to say that the last story definitely was the weakest. But I loved the Psy/Changeling novella and the other ones were nice and Christmasy too. Of course I had bought the anthology for Tamsyn and Nate's story only to find out later that the novella will be included in next year's Psy/Changeling anthology as well. So basically I could have skipped buying An Enchanted Season... typical.

message 24838: by Jordy (new)

Jordy (jordycrazyromanceaddict) Okay, I just finished reading/listening to the Immortals After Dark series which I definitely liked but now I'm stuck!!!! I'm not sure whether to tackle another PNR or more of a UF series???
I'm looking for another addicting series and I've had a few people suggest...
1)Lords of the Underworld Series by Gena Showalter
2)Downside Ghosts by Stacia Kane
3)Charley Davidson Series by Darynda Jones
4)Alpha & Omega by Patricia Briggs (is this a YA?)
5)Dark Swan by Richelle Mead

Any of these a must read fav series of yours?

message 24839: by Magda (new)

I honestly can't compare it to anything I've read, it's so unique. There is romance in it but it's not the focus of the story. THe heroine is definiely not a wimp, she's kickass and independant--I love that. It's funny, I laughed out loud at so many parts. I read all three back to back and didn't get bored of them. They are good. I was afraid to start them because of the commments on the humor-I thought she'd try too hard to be funny and I hate that. I did enjoy that part of the book though.

BTW-I could also recommed for you if you want a good UF series: Full Moon Rising (Riley Jenson Guardian, #1) by Keri Arthur THis is an excellent series that I kind of compare to Georgina Kincade. It's funny, the dialogue is great, and I love the heroine Riley. She's tougher than Georgina but she is compelling and outgoing like GK. She also likes sex, but like GK it fits with the paranormal story
