Leana (craftychick) | 44 comments Hi. I finished Old Magic. It was a waist of time. I wish I could get the time back I spent reading it. But now I am reading The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong and also reading A Game Of Thrones by George RR Martin. It's not PNR but Fantasy, but I like it so far.

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 371 comments I'm reading the three Kate Daniels books by Ilona Andrews. Just starting the third. I love curran.

Just downloaded the free copy of Blood Engines by TA Pratt, added it to my tbr list, hope to get to it this month.

Not sure if I'm going to read some Dresden Files next or A rush of wings

Jael ~ *~ Syhren ~* ~ (wwwgoodreadscomprofilejael) About to finish up Kiss of Crimson Just got Magic Strikes and an ARC of Stranges Angels by St.Crow I think I'll finish off the Breed series before.reading either Lover Avenged,Magic Strikes, or Strange Angels

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 443 comments Just finished 'Dark Highlander' by Moning & liked it nearly as much as 'Kiss of the Highlander' - what gorgeous twins Drustan & Daegus are! And I'm probably going to get paranormal overload, but I immediately picked up Ward's "Lover Eternal" - and already Rhage is in a rage (what a curse the Scribe Virgin laid on him)!

Leana, are you still liking 'Game of Thrones'? I read (listened to, actually) the first 4 books of "Song of Ice and Fire" and have been waiting for almost two years for the promised 5th book, which is now scheduled for end of September.

message 2055: by [deleted user] (new)

I just listened to the audio book of Prince Of Twilight by Maggie Shayne. I didn't like it at all. I could't see any logical reason for the heroine to fall so helplessly in love with the vamp main character. I mean, I get illogical love and doing crazy things for love, but this was just beyond my comprehension. I haven't read the other books in the series, so maybe I'm missing something, but I doubt that I will ever read them to find out.

I am still not very far in. But I am reading 3 books at one time. I know. I am crazy! But I needed an easy read while reading Game Of Thrones so I am reading The Summoning. And then I won The Kult from First Reads on here. So I am trying to read that now too. I just got it yesterday though so I didn't get far on it yet. My friend tells me I have OCD.

But to answer your question, I am liking it. It's hard right now to keep all the characters straight. But it's still entertaining so far. I was on George Martin's site last night checking out his bibliography and saw he has 2 more books to come out in the series after the next one. I though I remember reading before that it was a 5 book series. Hopefully though #5 comes out this eyar. I know you aren't the only one waiting. I doubt I will be that far by then though.

But I also read that HBO will have Game of Thornes as a series! So I thougth that was really cool. The pilot is scheduled to film in the fall this year.

Lori (moderatrixlori) I'm still reading Lover Avenged but have been sneaking in some of my M/M novellas during the day at work. Good thing I work from home!

Need by Sean Michael. Wow, this is one hot vampire love story. Typical Sean Michael in that there was lots of sex but there was also a really compelling story. Bast is a 750 year old vampire, turned at 15 and Trick is a homeless teenager turning tricks to put food in his belly. Right from the start this book sucks you in and keeps you reading. Loved it and can't wait to read the sequel, Chosen.

Circusex A One-hand Read which was really...well...really interesting. Circus Six has an after hours show that features acts for adults only. Adults who have paid a premium to either participate or just watch. When Circus Six is in his neck of the woods, it's Dwayne's job to broker the deals. He takes his job seriously, trying out the new acts and performers himself to insure the safety and mutual enjoyment of all of the participates involved. This book is strangely compelling and I have to admit that I found it titillating and somewhat enjoyable.

Heat by Tory Temple. This is the first book I've read of hers but will definitely not be the last. Chance and Tucker meet when Tucker comes to work at the same fire station where Chance works. This is a wonderful love story about two men who work hard to make their relationship work in a "Don't ask don't tell" environment. Bigger then even that obstacle though is what faces them when Chance is severely injured. I loved this story and can't wait to read the sequel.

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) I was almost done with my re-read of Lover Eternal (I have to re-read the series before I can get to Lover Avenged!) but I left it at my mom's house. So I have to wait for her to send it back to me. Grr.

I am currently reading House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski. Definitely not PNR, though there is a paranormal angle. I like it but I'm not sure who I'd recommend it to. It's a unique experience, that's for sure.

Barbara ★ Just finished The Alchemyst. A young adult book sorta like Harry Potter but not. Book 1 in a series and very entertaining.

message 2062: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 443 comments Almost finished with "Lover Eternal", and have started listening to "His Majesty's Dragon:Temeraire" bk. 1 by Naomi Novik. It's fantasy more than paranormal - nations have fleets of dragons to help them in warfare. Sort of reminds me of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell with the magic used in warfare.

message 2063: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephanie_julian) | 108 comments Almost finished Sea Lord (Children of the Sea, #3) by Virginia Kantra

I've really enjoyed this series and hope she continues with paranormals, maybe with the fairy story I read in an anthology (hint, hint because I know Virginia hangs out on Goodreads).

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments Hmm... not sure that I've made the best start to this month's challenge as the three books I've read so far were all released this year. Meh... Two of them have fed my current Kelley Armstrong fixation though, so I am working my way through the Otherworld series, currently curled up with Industrial Magic.

message 2065: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 208 comments I am getting ready to start Dark Side of the Moon

message 2066: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) Yesterday I read Child'sPrey 1 Orange Moon by Barbara Sheridan. This was a good story but OMG there was so much angst that I just wanted to smack someone. It drives me crazy when two people think they are doing right by the other person and all they're actually doing it fucking everything up. I'll definitely read the sequel and more of her books since there is a HEA ending...eventually.

Still reading Lover Avenged and on man is it getting good. I could do with less of the Lessers and more of the Brothers, and Rehv of course, but I know you gotta take the bad with the good.

message 2067: by Michelle (last edited May 07, 2009 09:10AM) (new)

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 371 comments Yesterday I read Dead and Gone by Charlaine Harris, I really enjoyed it. Today i read Christine Warren's Wolf at the Door, it was ok, different from the fixed books yet set in the same world and same secondary characters. Next i'm going to read some Dresden Books, I have 2-5 down for the challenges!

message 2068: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne i've been reading page 46 of Dream Chaser for days now::but it's just not going anywhere or doing anything::so do i persevere and maybe still be reading page 46 in a weeks time::or::ditch it for something better:if i ditch it i may never read it again::somay never finish the series::

message 2069: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Adrienne, I really liked Dream Chaser, so I'm not sure what to tell you! Xypher became one of my favorites after reading that one, and there are a lot of developments on the demon-front. Plus, it introduces Jaden. I thought it was the only Dream Hunter novel that read more like a Dark Hunter.

But the latest, Dream Warrior? That one I had a hard time getting through. I'm still looking forward to Bad Moon Rising though.

message 2070: by Kim (new)

Kim | 57 comments Hello, all- Yesterday, I finished "How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire" from Kresley Cole's "Love at Stake" series. Pretty cute, and I plan on reading the rest of the series - I just got "Vamps and the City"...

I also won a copy of Ann Macela's "The Oldest Kind of Magic" from one the blogs I follow, so that's what I'm currently reading. It seems to be a quick read, and I'm looking forward to its resolution!

Cheers!

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments =) Adrienne, glad you're enjoying Dream Chaser now. It's the only Dream Hunter book I've read - bullied into it by a friend because of Jaden. I ended up really liking Xypher.

message 2080: by Sue (new)

Sue | 43 comments I am reading "Real Vampires Have Curves" by Gerry Bartlett. It's good fluff, enjoyable to read. I am also reading "8th Confession" by James Patterson. I love my paranormal stuff but I have to squeeze in a good mystery once in awhile too. Tomorrow I head to Borders for the new Sookie book so I am rushing to finish 8th Confession so I can read Sookie the minute I buy it! Also so the new Betsy book comes out next month! Yeah

message 2081: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 443 comments Finished "Lover Eternal" - almost a 5* (I'm already getting tired of the "sh**kickers" and the hood-y slang but the stories are great). Also finished "His Majesty's Dragon" - a good 4* listen with two more in the trilogy to enjoy.

Now I'm switching gears and reading Mary Balogh's "At Last Comes Love" and Robyn Carr's 'Second Chance Pass'

Keep reading The Host! It's my second favorite book from 2008. The other happens to be from Stephenie Meyer as well. I will say the first 150 pages were hard. I wanted to put the book down. But I kept reading it and I am so glad I did! Hope you like it!

message 2086: by Nichole (DirrtyH) (new)

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) I'm reading Red-Headed Step Child. Two different groups I'm in picked it as the monthly group read, so I picked it as my 2009 book for the challenge.
I'm around page 70. My opinion so far: the bare bones of it, meaning the actual plot, is good. I'm not so sure about the window dressings, though. There has been more than one thing that made me go, "Really? Huh."
I'll just say she's made some stylistic choices I would not have made.

I also started Bones Crossed this weekend. I've been in line to get it from the library forever now, and then all of a sudden they called and said they had it for me, so I ran to get it.
Good so far, but man, will Adam and Mercy just hook up already? Sheesh.
