I'm guessing you've already read Mercy Thompson? Another favorite series of mine is Eileen Wilks World of the Lupi. Tempting Danger is the first in the series.

I can't think of anything that quite compares to Patricia Briggs but you could also try Rachel Caine's Weather Warden series, as it also features a relationship that develops over the course of the series.

I'm reading The Shadow Reader (McKenzie Lewis #1) by Sandy Williams which is in present tense too. I found it odd and unsettling at first, but after a few pages I found the book so good that I didn't notice the present tenst anymore. I recently got through about 50% of The Radleys by Matt Haig & I couldn't get my head around the present tense & gave up on it. I guess it depends on the book

I'm only at 11% and its been really hard to get into. Its not violent or anything, but I need the characters to have some sort of romance/connection in my books. Maybe it will develop. I don't know. I'm trying to push through. Its definitely different than anything I have read before.
