Im going to have to check out that series! I love tear jerkers!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I love Shifters. It has a heroine that starts out sort of selfish and shallow, much like Mac in Fever. She grows more with each book. It's also a fun twist on shifters with the animal form being black werecats. Plus there is a nice little love triangle too.

message 10662: by Nita (new)

Nita (gillnit) Finished Secrets of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #3) by Diana Rowland . This is the 3rd in its series and gave it a solid 4 stars. Love the world building and the characters and it had a surprise reveal at the end.

Finished just in time to start Shadowfever (Fever, #5) by Karen Marie Moning , which I got in the mail today. Should be awesome.

I really appreciated the unique world, but it could benefit from some editing, just because I think things were revealed too quickly. I'll probably end up reading the other 2 in the trilogy.

I know I'm still waiting on this and it's killing me to avoid all topics about it...she just had to leave Dreamfever (Fever, #4) by Karen Marie Moning with that cliff hanger darn her...

message 10679: by Sillylittlefishey (new)

Sillylittlefishey | 1025 comments I finished Dead Witch Walking (Rachel Morgan/The Hollows, #1) by Kim Harrison ..it did get better towards the end..I just hate that it was soooo slow in the beginning...if it hadn't taken so long for them to set up the story...and didn't have all that boring stuff with Rachel and Ivy...and her being afraid of Ivy having her as a snack I would probably have liked it a lot better. But I love the pixie, Jenks...who apparently is single-handily responsible for the humor in this book. I'm still cracking up at Rachel telling him that it doesn't take an hour to say goodbye to his wife and him responding, "do you think my kids just popped up out of the ground" or something to that effect.

I'm now moving on to Every Which Way But Dead (Rachel Morgan/The Hollows, #3) by Kim Harrison ..the 2nd book in the series. I'm hoping it will be better since they shouldn't have to do all that setting the scene stuff...

The book you are about to read is the third in that series. :)

message 10681: by ☻Nikki☻ (new)

☻Nikki☻ (nikkic1998) Heidi...I think the books from now on flow much more smoothly. Jenks is definitely still the best at one-liners. I am currently listening to the audio of book 4 & he is hilarious. Love it!

message 10682: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) yeah I heard they get better, the first one did seem a little long winded, just because of the back story...though in a lot of series I see that they can be a little winded and hard to get into because they are setting the presedence(sp) into the entire series. Can't wait until I can get my hands on the next book... love the title for it too... "the good, the bad, and the undead" lol

lucky you :p, my library doesn't even have this book, and my library is dumb now anyways...cause due to the closing of libraries in my city, cause of lack of funds to keeps books coming and what not UGH DAMN RECESSION, people outside the county library tax district are on a limited access card...which means we can only borrow 3 books at a time request 2 at a time, and we can't request books outside that particular Library so no inter-library requests which blows. So I think I am going to stop using my library because well it now blows big time and just buy my books when I can...unfortunately I am lacking the funds currently to get the next books in a lot of series. :(

Actually I got the 1st 3 books of this series as a Christmas gift from my sister and BIL aka "Mr. Twilight is so stupid"...I was shocked when he started up a conversation about Sookie with me and how he likes the books better than the show...a closet vamp lover maybe?? Anyway he said he heard this series (The Hollows) was good so that's why he got those for me. My local library has some of them...they rarely have the full set of anything but luckily they are connected with a lot of other libraries so I have yet to find a book that none of them have...I just put a request in online and they deliver it to my library for pick-up. But if somebody local to that library requests it...they get it first which is why waiting for Shadowfever (Fever, #5) by Karen Marie Moning is sucking so bad...since I was the 2nd to request it!! But it could be worse. Where I used to live just had a stand-a-lone library that wasn't connected to any other libraries and they're selection blew major chunks....maybe that's why I didn't read as much then??

Not so bad. Rachel is immature and annoying but the character does grow through the series. :)

I can understand that...I hate not being able to finish a series once I start one...

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I hardly ever buy books anymore unless they're a new release that I need to read asap.

Shadowfever was one that I wouldn't have been able to wait out the library crawl for.

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) Heidi wrote: "Scorpio Sammie wrote: "yeah the library system where I live really sucks now days...I have the first of the fever series, but I am afraid to start it and not be able to get the rest of the series r..."

well ok it depends on the series and the length, these short series I like to read together at times, but then I also need to take breaks from them especially the long ones.

@Stacia-
I used to love to go to the library, but anymore with budget cuts and everything, they just don't seem to have the selection anymore, and buying books I can read them at anytime instead of having a time limit to get them read. Also I love being the first person to break in the spine of a book...I don't it's a weird thing I have. :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Oh I used to use the library a lot too. It was a great resource. Now that I have the ereader I get a lot of the series I want for either free or dirt cheap.

The only time I pay full price for books anymore is brand new releases that I have to have. Shadowfever was definitely one of them.

now I am reading Succubus Blues (Georgina Kincaid, #1) by Richelle Mead
