Singh is a great author! If you like UF with a nice dose of romance and action, I think you will like this book. Enjoy!

message 8359: by Pam G (new)

Pam G (pgarey) I am starting book 3 Mona Lisa Craving (Monère Children of the Moon, #5) by Sunny of the Monere series by Sunny and it's great. I love Halcyon, the Demon Prince of Hell! Also reading Friday Night Bites (Chicagoland Vampires, #2) by Chloe Neill and I'm enjoying it too (not as dark as Monere). Listening to Dead Witch Walking (Rachel Morgan/The Hollows, #1) by Kim Harrison and trying really hard to get into it. Should I continue?

Pam - I struggled with the first Rachel Morgan book but found they get much better as they go. I really like the series. Oh and I love the Sunny books - I agree about Halcyon - and the Chicagoland Vamps is one of my top 5 favorite series.

Budletsmom | 17 comments Oh all these new series to add to my very long reading list LOL. I think it is years long now and then to add a few more series LOL. Oh well one can never have too many books on their list.

I am curious about eh reviews on the Kim Harrison books I tried to read the first one and just couldn't get into it - have heard from others that it is good and also am curious if I should add it back to my list?

Melanie, I have both series by N.Singh on my night stand. I hear lots of great things about her. You can't go wrong, let me know how you like it.

I also have a couple books from Fever and Highlanders by Moning...I'm such a pig... I just didn't want to return any of it to the library, lol. And I'm finishing Demonica, see what I mean, such a pig...

I think it's often hard to get through the first of a series. So much time is spent world-building and learning the "rules" of this version of the world, that sometimes the story gets buried in the beginning.

I was about to give up on the first book, but so many others said it was good so I plowed through and I'm glad I did. I've really enjoyed them all, even the ones others didn't like so much.

message 8365: by Heather in FL (new)

Heather in FL (heather_fl) And I didn't post what I'm reading. :-)

I finished what exists of the Demonica series and I've preordered #5. I'll be sad that this series is over. I really liked them all.

I bought some Gena Showalter a while back, so figured I'd go ahead and start with that one. I'm reading Lords of the Underworld Bundle by Gena Showalter , and I'm currently on what I guess is the first book, The Darkest Fire. The first "book" was just a short story.

message 8366: by Budletsmom (new)

Budletsmom | 17 comments Oh I just need to read faster or have more time to read. I guess I will put the Kim Harrison books back on my to read list but it will be a while. I also have the Demonica series but haven't gotten to them yet. I love Gena Showalter and have several of hers stacked up as well - oh and some Kresley Cole and about 100 others.

Has anyone read the Jaz Parks books - I borrowed them and need to start reading them - well I read a few but just can't bring myself to read the rest.

Both myself & my mom had a hard time with Dead Witch Walking. However, on a whim, I checked out the second book in the series & thought it was much better the Dead Witch Waking.

I've read the first book in the Jaz Park series & I really didn't like it. It was one of those books that after I finally finished it, I ended up asking myself what I had just read. I know other people have enjoyed it, but I hated it & probably will not continue with the series.

Loved it! Fave book of the series.
Least fave is still The Summoning.

So, with that done...any suggestions on what series/book I should read next?
Eternal Kiss of Darkness (Night Huntress World, #2) by Jeaniene Frost The Darkest Night (Lords of the Underworld, #1) by Gena Showalter Heart of the Dragon (Atlantis, #1) by Gena Showalter Bitten (Women of the Otherworld, #1) by Kelley Armstrong Nightlife (Cal Leandros, #1) by Rob Thurman

message 8369: by Budletsmom (new)

Bitten (Women of the Otherworld, #1) by Kelley Armstrong had a slow start but ended up being excellent.
The Darkest Night (Lords of the Underworld, #1) by Gena Showalter was good. I haven't read the other Gena Showalter book.
I haven't read Eternal Kiss of Darkness either. I read three of the Night Huntress novels. I really liked them both the mystery and the romance were good. I stopped reading the series because of the violence.

Nightlife doesn't have any romance, I've only read it though, so there might be romance later on in the series.

Irene Hollimon | 182 comments I'm in the middle of Twice Bitten (Chicagoland Vampires, #3) by Chloe Neill . I'm loving it! Finally, some sex. I thought I might be reading a YA novel. It was tasteful not porn. But now I don't want to finish it. There are two hundred pages to go and that means there will be trouble in paradise. If the author was going to let it end there, the book would have ended there... ooooh ouch! I want to finish, I don't want to finish... I have to finish, I can't finish... yes, no, yes, no...

message 8381: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea (vampirebookclub) | 89 comments Yesterday I finished Crimson Moon by J.A. Saare . Good paranormal romance to get wrapped up in. (My review).

After that, I read the novella Beauty and the Bastard by David Bridger , which was a fun, romantic read.

Now, I'm trying to decide if I'm moving on to Manifest, Catching Fire, Sins of the Soul or Veil of Shadows. My TBR pile is towering these days.

Ugh! Not even a little bit? A fling? A kiss? It's about 2 brothers! One of em should get a little action at least! Lol. You know when you've read too many romance novels when....

Irene wrote: "I haven't read Nightlife. Is there any romance in it?

Hmm. I also found out that Kelley Armstrong's Darkest Powers series also had a slow start. But do I believe that her series does get better - also proven by DP.

Gena Showalter's book sound good though....SO...my series order will be:

I'll start reading:
Heart of the Dragon (Atlantis, #1) by Gena Showalter

Then read the rest in the following order!
Nightlife (Cal Leandros, #1) by Rob Thurman The Darkest Night (Lords of the Underworld, #1) by Gena Showalter Bitten (Women of the Otherworld, #1) by Kelley Armstrong Eternal Kiss of Darkness (Night Huntress World, #2) by Jeaniene Frost
So i'll alternate from romance to UF.
Eternal Kiss of Darkness is just last since I may have a Cat & Bones withdrawal after it, hopefully by then a full novel for C&B are out...

Hopefully this works! :)

I just finished the book this afternoon. I loved it! I literally couldn't put it down since I started reading it Friday. That was a really great book. I can't wait to read the next one in the series. I'm also going to get the first in the Psy series.

I also read all the Moning books (Fever and Highlander). She's another great writer.

Pam G (pgarey) Irene, I am about 1/2 thru Friday Night Bites (Chicagoland Vampires, #2) by Chloe Neill and I am loving the sexual tension between Ethan and Merit (with a bit of Morgan thrown in). Glad to hear something happens in Twice Bitten (Chicagoland Vampires, #3) by Chloe Neill . Er, I assume the sex is between E&M???!!! No, wait....don't tell me, haha!

That should keep me busy.. ;o)

I thought it was a good book... a bit more action than Cry Wolf, but then I liked Cry Wolf, too. Anna and Charles go to a summit with wolf packs from around the world to represent Bran and their pack. There's a bit of murder, mystery, and suspense... more fae, vampires, witches and more werewolf politics. I hope she continues with the series, because I'd definitely read the next one.
