Welcome to PNR!! LKH Anita Blake turns into really bad porn fairly soon after the book you are currently reading. I would like to suggest JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood starting w/Dark Lover and Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series starting with
A Hunger Like No Other.
Much better content and steaminess...promise!

Poppy Fields (aggiepanthus) | 3 comments I am reading the Anita Blake Vampire series and loving it! I am on Incubus Dreams. I love this series and find it just gets better and better. I am so glad I discovered it late because I would have been really frustrated waiting for the next book to come out. When I can't hold a book I am listening to Moon called by Patricia Briggs which is proving to be very entertaining as well.

I'm still in the second chapter, so I can't really put my 2 cents in just yet. But so far, it is much better than her Nightwalkers series :)

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 451 comments I'm in the middle of The Mane Attraction by Shelly Laurenston. I love those lion-shifters! I just finished Enchanting the Beast by Kathryne Kennedy, a charming historical set in an alternate Victorian world with magic, ghosts, and shifters.

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 663 comments thanks so much jesslyn. i've actually read the first three of the blackdagger brotherhood. i absolutely love it! i got a little side tracked once i started anita blake. i'm currently looking for lover revealed (butch's story). i've been checking out half priced books and can't find it. i'll probably have to buy it new. my favorite was rhage's story so far. zsadist is my fav vamp, but i wanted more from his story. i know ward wrote a short story about him, bella and their daughter. i really want to read that one. i also can't wait to read phury's story. i'm definitely going to check out kresley cole. i'm looking for some other great series to read once i get caught up with ward. thanx much!

i just love anita blake too poppy. i'm on obsidian butterfly. i feel the same way as u, in that i've started it late and can read without ceasing. i've already bought most of the books except for five of them and i'm flying through them. i'm sooo addicted. i'm not really into edward so i'm moving a bit slow with this one though. i want to get back to jean claude and nathaniel. happy reads!

message 6960: by Toni (new)

Toni I am readingVampire Academy. I have sooooo many other good books waiting on me sitting on my bookshelf but I hear this is good so I hope it is!
So far I like it. :)

message 6961: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (vlord) I have just finished all the books in the Kyndred series by Lynn Viehl. I really enjoyed them. Has anyone else read this series? There is a new one coming out in a month or so. Love the characters and the plots. Shadowlight
I also really enjoy all the Anita Blake and Merry series from Laurell Hamilton. There are times tha the Anita series borders on porn, but not enough to turn me off the series.

But aren't there 7 more "numbers" to get through before 2012 ends? I kept hoping that deadline would make these books come out faster.

Yeah, I know but she doesn't seem in any hurry to get cracking on this series. I know she said in her blog she is remodeling her condo, and anyone who has built a new house or done a remodel knows it takes over every second, minute and hour of your life. YIKES, I just had a flashback. Like you said there is a deadline of 2012 on this one, I just hope she has presold the entire series or we might get left in the dust.

Yes, it is! I always have this impression that House of Night books should be combined -- like Tempted wasn't complete enough story for me. But I was really pleased with Burned, and was suprised to like all the POV changes.

Fantasy Lover is probably the weakest of the series. DON'T GET ME WRONG I love love love me some Julian and Grace and their story is adorable but can at times be cheesy and kinda choppy. If you have any trouble with it just hold strong. The series immediately gets better with Kyrian's story and just sky rockets after that! :D
