Amy Leggio | 14 comments I just finished Catching Fire and went back to HP. I am reading the 6th book to Harry Potter. I never read these books when the were all the rage and my sister has begged me to read them. I finally did and they are great. The author is briliant. The only prob is I started reading them back to back and by the 5th book I needed a little break from the HP world. Now that I have finished the 2 Hunger Game books I am back to the wizarding world.

message 6155: by Nita (new)

Nita (gillnit) The last two books I read were non-pnr, Sin (Hamilton Sisters #1) by Sharon Page and The Road by Cormac McCarthy . Sin was a great historical erotic romance I thought. In the middle of an orgy it turned into a murder mystery, which was fun. The Road was good, but depressing.

Now I am back to pnr with Nice Girls Don't Live Forever (Jane Jameson, #3) by Molly Harper .

Ellice (satanlovesme) ha cool! i haven't read the HP books i just figured 'hey why read them when i can just watch the movies?'

You should know that the books are ALWAYS better then the movie. LOL!! And HP is no exception. There is no way to put every briliant thought this author has into a movie.

message 6158: by Ellice (new)

Ellice (satanlovesme) true true just think of twilight and how shitty the movie is compared to the books!

Agreed 100%. I would not have been a Twilight fan if I had not read the books.

Christina (gsdluv) | 3 comments The Darkest Night (Lords of the Underworld, Book 1) by Gena Showalter

message 6172: by Ronda (new)

Ronda Tutt (rondatutt) I just finished The Circle Trilogy by Nora Roberts and I'd have to say it was a paranormal/fantasy read. It had everything in it - vampire, sorcerer, witch, vampire hunter, and shapeshifter. It was pretty good.

I just started Atlantis Unleashed by Alyssa Day

This series is great.

Jas (10jbean01) | 30 comments Jen wrote: "I bought the book set(first 6) since I heard such great things about the series...I took the plunge and so glad I did! (BDB)"

I just did the same! The set was on sale for like 25? I can't remember, except that it was ridiculously cheap so I bought it after hearing everyone's comments and it was well worth the money! I will say I was disappointed in number 6 (Lover Enshrined) but only because I felt like I had waited forever to read Phury's story and then the two characters weren't in it all that much and were rarely together; it just wasn't as satisfying as the other books BUT of course I still loved it!

I agree with you. Even though I loved Phury's book, and the brother himself, I was pissed when they got interrupted a lot! :/

I'm trying to read Anne Bishop's Sebastian in between bouts of writing my thesis and keeping up with all of my other work. I'm really enjoying it, and I wish I could just blow off all of this other stuff to read for hours!

message 6180: by Leah (last edited Mar 26, 2010 02:32PM) (new)

Leah (leahkarge) I'm re-reading Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I can never get enough of Ash and this book :)

message 6181: by Crystal (new)

Crystal (OMalley) | 25 comments At this moment I'm reading Speak By: Laurie Halse Anderson. It's actually better then I thought it would be. But it's not one of the BEST BOOKS I EVER READ, If you know what I mean.

message 6182: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahkarge) Crystal, I'm interested to see your review of Speak. I really disliked that book when I read it.

Katie, it took me a little while to get into A Great and Terrible Beauty, too, but after a little while it gets really interesting. And the next two are even more interesting. I think that the 3rd one, The Sweet Far Thing, is the best of the trilogy.

message 6183: by Courtney (new)

Courtney (mrs_hf) | 173 comments Just finished Devil in a Kilt (MacKenzie Series, #1) by Sue-Ellen Welfonder and am now starting Shadow Game (GhostWalkers, #1) by Christine Feehan . Glad that I could finally get it from the library. I'm kind of worried about reading it. I read quite a few of her books from the Carpathians series and found that they all had basically the same plot, descriptions, and characters. This series has several books in it already and I just hope she didn't fall into the same patterns. :(
Staying positive though!! I've heard tons of good things about the series so *shrug* I'm gonna give it a try. :D

message 6184: by Leah (new)

hahaha, I know just what you mean in regards to Feehan! I feel like all her books are the same...I often find myself skipping over the excessive amounts of "I love you, your my other half, the light to my darkness" moments AND YET I keep reading them...its like a compulsion...sort of like when Friends is on tv--you've already seen them all but you know its good for a brief interlude until something better comes along

Currently I'm reading Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It's like books 15 of her Dark-Hunter series. If you love the LotU series and haven't read Sherrilyn Kenyon, I would recommend it because she's as awesome as Gena Showalter :)

Leah (leahkarge) Jbongiorno wrote: "I've not heard of this series? Who is it by and what's it about?? You'll have to let me/us know what you think so I can see if I wanna read it..."

Jbongiorno, if you are referring to the series me and Angela were talking about, it's the Lords of the Underworld series by Gena Showalter. It has to do with Pandora's box, but in this series, it's not Pandora who opened the box but 13 warriors of the gods and as punishment since the box disappeared, the warriors have to harbor the demons inside themselves. It's really good.

If you were not talking about that, sorry to be presumptuous and I hope Gena's series interested you. LOL

message 6192: by Brianna (new)

Brianna | 76 comments Haha, I've yet to read any books by Feehan. I'm unsure as to whether or not I'd like them. Right now, I've got Zarek's story in the Dark-Hunter series that I need to start reading soon, as I've found the previous books quite interesting. I like the whole incorporation of mythology and vampires. It's quite an interesting take.

EXACTLY!! Well, I'm about 50 pages in and so far it's definitely different from the Carpathians but I can already pick out the lines she is probably going to be using again and again. *sigh* I'm reading hers while I wait for my other books to come in at the library. She's definitely a good stand by. *shrug*

My husband is an English major and even he liked the twist on the whole Pandora's Box thing. Pretty awesome. :) Can't wait for the next one! She keeps teasing up with book covers! Gah!!

message 6200: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahkarge) No problem, Brianna.

Courtney, I really liked the twist on Pandora's Box. I mean, everyone's heard the myth that Pandora opened the box so I really liked that she changed it up to making it the Lords who opened it!
