I hate the station identifiers that are slowly growing larger on television. I was watching a movie and the lower right hand portion of the screen was taken up by the station logo and what was coming on next. I don't care what is on next. I want to watch the stupid movie!!!!!!

Food Network is the worst offender of this! Their station identifiers take up a good quarter of the screen, and you can't see the ingredients Alton Brown is listing on Good Eats! They are ruining their own programming! Gah! Hate it hate it hate it!
sometimes they even have sound effects! FX is really bad about that; if it hits during a quiet, dialogue heavy part of the show it can overpower everything. it's very, very annoying.and this is why i now watch nearly all my television (well, the stuff that requires actual attention, like lost, for instance) through netflix. sure, i'm behind by a couple of weeks (i love how fast this stuff gets released to dvd now! and in high def!), but i don't have to deal with any commercials or station identifiers or idiotic dvr malfunctions that get confused if the show starts a minute off from what it thinks it should (i've missed so many episodes of house and the office because of time warner's awful new dvr software).
anyway, enough ranting. tv sucks, dvds rule.
