Akrisios paused in his retreat and turned, walking backwards. He held up his hands in a defensive gesture."I-I honestly have no clue what you mean." He swallowed nervously and turned again. He had given Ariadne the possibly of creating something for her sister. She had taken it, but it had been months in the making because of her frequent lapses in control.

"Akrisios, wait! I have your present too." Medea didn't take her eyes off the painting as she held out his present. With her other hand, she hurried to brush away tears. "It is her. It's Ariadne," she whispered to herself.

Akrisios shook his head."No, no. I can't accept anything from you."

Medea frowned. "What do you mean? Of course you can. Just take the present. I'd feel bad if I didn't get you something, especially now..." She stared at her painting and swallowed again. "I - I don't know how you knew and painted this - but thanks. Thanks so much." She tried to stop her voice from breaking, but it did anyway.

Akrisios shrugged."Fine." He took the present from her. He might be able to sell it or something and maybe reimburse her or something.

Medea cleared her throat. "It might not make much sense. So, I noticed your owl is really a gorgeous owl. The owl brush is enchanted so it doesn't snag on his feathers. And... everyone likes chocolate. Then, whenever my mom gave me candy as a kid, she would give me a toothbrush too." She shrugged self-consciously. "It's not as good as your's."

Akrisios smiled."Thanks, I'm sure Avalon will enjoy himself." He rolled his eyes."Honestly, sometimes I think I should have named him Narcissus."

"I've noticed that owls usually have an attitude," Medea said. She laughed awkwardly. It was still hard to breathe, since every time she looked at the picture of her little sister, she gasped silently.

Medea stared at him in confusion. "Ok... Well, Merry Christmas, Akrisios. Really, thanks so much." She hugged the painting against her body, hardly believing it. It didn't occur to her yet to ask how he knew what Ariadne had looked like. She did notice, though, that Ariadne looked older in the picture than she had been on the day. The day Medea hated to think about.

Rose saw Medea talking to Akrisios so she turned to Iris instead "So, I got you two a present, but it was last minute so I hope you like it," she pulled out a small box and opened it. "I had these dried pressed flowers, and to make them prettier I had the Charms professor help me." there were two flowers in the box and as thy watched their petals shimmered and changed color. Almost as soon as it was completely one color, it would change to another, then another in a rainbow of shades. As she gave the flower to Iris she said, "Oh, Happy christmas Akrisios!"
