UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Julie, is there an order then that I should read them in, just to be safe?

message 352: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 392 comments Dhestiny and Suzanne, I read Victoria Alexander's The Perfect Wife and if memory serves I liked it. I ended up buying almost all of her books off of ebay because my library didn't have all of them. If you look at my book thread I believe I wrote comments on the book. One of these days I'll have to read the rest. I just can't seem to stop myself from putting books on hold at the library. I keep trying to read everything before it's due at the library and don't get to the ones I own.

Mrshj, I am having the same problem as you with Balogh books. Some of her books are really good, while others just make me wonder if someone else used her name. I think An Ideal Wife is one I did NOT like and the third book of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse series, Irresistable, was one I loved (couldn't get my hands on the first two). I also liked most of the Huxtable series.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Thanks, Lisarenee. I'm going to go take a look at your list right now.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Well, I didn't find it, but I'm so tired I can hardly sit up. I'll check again tomorrow.

message 355: by Lisarenee (last edited May 30, 2010 10:17PM) (new)

Lisarenee | 392 comments Dhestiny, It's number 54 on my list. Just looked. I remembered reading it because I read both Lynsay Sands book and Alexander's fairly close together and then Balogh's The Ideal Wife and started getting confused about all the books with the same or similar names. I can see you creating a new challenge in the future where you read as many books by different author's with the same title. LOL Makes me wonder what the most popular title for a book is and how many times it's been used?

Here is the order (Julie has made a list and posted it- thank you!): http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/2...

On her website she lists the sets too.http://www.lizcarlyle.com/books.html

I took a quick look and the only one that can't be got cheaply second hand is the first one.

Carol Cork *Young at Heart Oldie* (httpsrakesandrascalswordpresscom) | 2140 comments How about Gaelen Foley's Knight Miscellany ? It has been some time since I read this series but my particular favourites were:

The Duke
Lady of Desire
Devil Takes a Bride

Ironically I picked up the sister book to that one at the bookshop recently to round out numbers and was surprised by how good it was. Neither of the main characters particularly appealed to me and the story line was slow paced but I really enjoyed it because it was so well put together. It's called "A precious Jewel" and was about Gerald Stapleton & Prissy- it runs parallel to the other story.

I tried one of Gaelen Foley's books- The Pirate Prince and never finished it- should I try again?

message 359: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Lisarenee, thanks! I looked at it and I think I'll move it up my TBR list.

message 360: by new_user (new)

new_user I've heard Foley compared to Kleypas before too. I've been meaning to try her. I always hear her Knight series recommended.

Christine (cdunbar) | 424 comments Just finished The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley and I loved it! I'd recommend to anyone who hasn't read it yet. I have a couple other Jennifer Ashley novels I'm going to read now since I liked that one so much.

Can you suggest somewhere for me to start out with her? I do too love an aggressive hero. I'd appreciate your opinions!
Thanks ladies!

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments Bekah, do you like paranormal? You could read her Darkness Chosen books. There are only four. The reviews are so-so, but I really liked them. The heroes are pretty aggressive.

Scent of Darkness by Christina Dodd Touch of Darkness by Christina Dodd [image error] Into the Flame by Christina Dodd

I also liked Tongue In Chic, as far as contemporary.

new_user Sure, Bekah. I like the Darkness Chosen series that Danielle mentioned. She has a lot of historicals too, so I still have a lot to read ahead of me, but here are some of my favorites historicals (heroes ;) from her:

Scandalous Again (Switching Places, Book 1) by Christina Dodd One Kiss From You (Switching Places, Book 2) by Christina Dodd Rules of Attraction (Governess Brides, Book #3) by Christina Dodd

message 370: by Bekah, Fellow Kleypasaholic (new)

Bekah (bekah317) | 2750 comments Thank you!!! I love getting recommendations...especially if there is an aggressive hero!

Thanks guys!

new_user LOL. Me too! Np. ;)

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 630 comments I have just started reading The Runaway Princess by Christina Dodd and I can see a new obsession about to start!

message 373: by new_user (new)

new_user Glad you're liking it, Suzanne! I think I like the Governess series better, but The Runaway Princess was cute too.

message 374: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Certifiable St. Vinnie's Ninny (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments I admit to an obsession with Christina Dodd. I love her heroes! I agree that the Governess series is better. But the heroes are sexy in that series, too.

message 375: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Do you think her writing is better in the Governess series than Castles in the Air

message 376: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Certifiable St. Vinnie's Ninny (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments I think her Governess series is more interesting. I'm a big fan of Dodd, but I do feel her earlier medievals were tedious, although I liked them.

Lisarenee | 392 comments I just finished reading Brenda Joyce's The Masquerade and really enjoyed it. As is often the case with me, I read out of order in a series. Will need to look into her other books, but this one was really good. About a woman who attempts to pass off her sister's child as her own and present him to his father. The whole assorted mess started while the three attended a Masquerade in which the male pursues the main character only to later find the she and her sister have switched costumes and the result being a little bundle of joy named Ned. Confusing? I don't think many authors could pull this one off, but it was really good.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 630 comments Finished the The Runaway Princess by Christina Dodd, I loved it am going to have to find her Governess series if that one is better

Christine (Cagnes) (cagnes) | 223 comments Suzanne wrote: "Finished the The Runaway Princess by Christina Dodd, I loved it am going to have to find her Governess series if that one is better"

I haven't read the Princess series yet, but I'm looking forward to reading them. I did read the "Lost Princess" series & really liked them! Some Enchanted Evening, The Barefoot Princess, The Prince Kidnaps a Bride

I've also read the 1st four books of the Governess Bride series & love those too!

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 630 comments The Runaway Princess was very fun, if a bit unbelievable, but I enjoyed it very much. I will have to look at the Lost Princess series aswell. I love it when an author I have discovered has a huge backlist, more to devour : )

message 385: by new_user (new)

new_user I think the only Governess book I haven't liked that much so far was the first one, Rules of Surrender. That one was kind of mild to me.

message 386: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Certifiable St. Vinnie's Ninny (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments I loved Rules of Surrender! Some Enchanted Evening is the best in the lost princesses series. If you want an aggressive hero, there you go!

Oh- I just read Beauty Like the Night. Loved it- Camden was a lovely hero- this was definitely NOT one of those books that was spun out by the hero and heroine not talking about their feelings. I have always liked the theme of a childhood love being rekindled. I'm really enjoying Liz Carlyle but I can't afford the first one in the series- its £31 plus P&P - so getting on for US$50- looks like it is cheaper on amazon.com but they won't import.

I also read Joanna Bourne's "The Spymaster's Lady" this week and would recommend it. Plenty of plot, interesting characters-based partially in France and not a sniff of the London social scene. Ignore the trashy cover!

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I'm reading and LOVING At the Bride Hunt Ball by Olivia Parker . Olivia Parker is a cross between Lisa Kleypas and Julia Quinn and this book is funny!

message 394: by Lisarenee (last edited Jun 06, 2010 09:34PM) (new)

Lisarenee | 392 comments Dhestiny, I loved both of Parker's books.

Carol, Thanks for the Brenda Joyce information. I was set to look her up on Wikipedia. I actually have one or two more of her books.

Melanie (melaina) | 638 comments @Mrshj :

www.bookdepository.co.uk is great for free shipping!! As for Gaelen Foley, I LOVED her books... The Pirate Prince was probably my least fave though... I would start with The Duke (if you want to start the Knight Miscellany series) or Princess (Ascension trilogy book 2, which was my fave of the three):-) My Wicked Marquess is Gaelen Foley's first book in a new series, but I would start with the KM... You can't go wrong:-)

And Celeste Bradley's Liar's Club books are great too:-)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I've been thinking about reading the Liar's Club books.

Kathy Anne (kathyanne) Dhes,
I haven`t heard of those books, what are they about, they have a really interesting name.I just did a reread of Succubus Blues and I like them.
Vamp Academy used to be my favof Meads but I like Succubus better now, though both series have main Heros in them that drive me nuts

message 400: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Certifiable St. Vinnie's Ninny (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments Probably. I think this is the order:

The Pretender (Liar's Club, #1) by Celeste Bradley The Impostor (Liar's Club, #2) by Celeste Bradley The Spy (Liar's Club, #3) by Celeste Bradley The Charmer (Liar's Club, #4) by Celeste Bradley The Rogue (Liar's Club, #5) by Celeste Bradley

And the series carries over into The Four:

To Wed a Scandalous Spy (Royal Four, #1) by Celeste Bradley Surrender to a Wicked Spy (Royal Four, #2) by Celeste Bradley One Night with a Spy (Royal Four, #3) by Celeste Bradley Seducing the Spy (Royal Four, #4) by Celeste Bradley
