I second that with an Amen, Sister!

I second that with an Amen, Sister!"
Can I third it?

I also love Garwood's other historical novels.
I read Heartbreaker (a contemporary) and it is a bit disturbing as it delves into the mind of the killer. Will try another of her contemporaries, hoping she keeps the murderer's thought out of the book. The book was good, but I didn't love it. Has anyone else tried her contemporaries?

I haven't started her Fever series yet."
That's a good one, I love Circenn!
I haven't read the Fever series yet either, but definitely plan to!

OH... The Switch is VERY good!!!! I also loved The Brat and Always... Lynsay Sands is such a great author, I am always laughing out loud in the middle of the bus when I'm reading her. BTW, Sally McKenzie is also very funny, if you're looking for smt in the same vein..
As for "what to read after LK), I would recommend Celeste Bradley (her Royal Four and spy series), Liz Carlyle, Anne Gracie or Tracy Anne Warren.
Good hunting! ;-)

Hi Ally,
I really enjoyed Susan Andersen's contemporary books, they're sexy and easy to read: You have a couple that have a slightly more "thriller" feel to them, like Obsessed, Shadow Dance or Exposure.
Christina Dodd also has some good contemporary books, like Trouble in High Heels,Tongue In Chic, Thigh High, Just the Way You Are, Danger in a Red Dress, Close to You, Almost Like Being in Love, about two seperate families trying to find each other (two main series, the Prescott family: Hope, Poppy, Kate and Gabriel, and the Manly family, I think). Jennifer Crusie and Susan Donovan are contemporary too, but a lot lighter and funnier.
Good luck!
has anyone read WESTMORELAND QUARTET by Judith McNaught? I have heard good things about Whitney My Love!

I have read whitney, and Kingdom of dreams...not sure what the others are in the series, but Kingdom of Dreams is one of my all time favorite books. Steamy, funny, and sweet.

Its really hard to find anything quite like the Travis series...it would be nice if we could, but nobody writes quite like Lisa.
I'll tell you what I'm into currently. It's not at all like Lisa's books, but it's keeping me entertained and busy. Shannon McKenna's McLoud Brother series. Lots of steam, steam, steam, steam. :-) Big alpha heroes who fall hard and are obsessive.

I'm currently on Out of Control, and loving the hero. Loving him.
Bekah . . i have one question for ya ..

First of all the fact that JQ drops modern phrases into her dialogue just drives me nuts. The books don't need to read like Jane Austen, but they really should not "sound" that modern.
The dissapearing clothing! OMG do some reasearch! No way would the Regency dresses come off that easily. No way at all! Heck, make a seduction out of getting the woman undressed. Make it part of the love-scene. This bothered me a lot, but I have to fess up, I've been a historical re-enactor, so I know how this clothing is constructed. She doesn't mention undergarments at all, either, other than stockings.
Also there's very little historical feel to the books. There are some passing mentions of London, but you're not really "there". It's almost a wallpaper romance.
All that griping aside, I loved Duke and I and Viscount Who Loved Me. Benedict's book was light and I was not convinced that he would have asked Sophie to be his mistress. I feel that it's out of character for him or for any of the Bridgerton men.
I liked the fourth book since I like Colin a lot but it wasn't as satisfying as the first two books in the series. I guess I've had enough of Julie Quinn for a while.

Susin, I have to admit that I find JQ a little too light for my tastes, although I did really like To Sir Phillip With Love. I'd like to read some of her later books to see if she's gotten more intense. I admit, I like the darker, intense romances more.

Good about Sir Phillip. I have the book but haven't read it yet. JQ is in time-out for a bit.

Me too cynthina, I have read all of Cindy Woodsmall's books...while they are classified as Christian, (I think)... they are wonderful love stories without the sex(Amish stuff, which interest me) I would really recommend them...they are VERY heart wrenching! especially the Sister of the Quilt Series!
When the Heart Cries
When the Morning Comes
When the Soul Mends: A Novel

She’s been burned not once but twice by London’s so-call ed gentlemen . . .Gwen Maudsley is pretty enough to be popular, and plenty wealthy, too. But what she’s best known and loved for is being so very, very nice. When a cad jilts her at the altar—again—the scandal has her outraged friends calling for blood. Only Gwen has a different plan. If nice no longer works for her, then it’s time to learn to be naughty. Happily, she knows the perfect tutor—Alexander Ramsey, her late brother’s best friend and a notorious rogue. So why won’t a confirmed scoundrel let her be as bad as she wants to be?Unbeknownst to Gwen, Alex’s aloof demeanor veils his deepest unspoken desire. He has no wish to see her change, nor to tempt himself with her presence when his own secrets make any future between them impossible. But on a wild romp from Paris to the Riviera, their friendship gives way to something hotter, darker, and altogether more dangerous. With Alex’s past and Gwen’s newly unleashed wildness on a collision course, Gwen must convince Alex that his wickedest intentions are exactly what she needs.
