The book that I read is called "Frederick Douglas Life". The quote by Theodore Roethke is saying that if you are blind of all the things that is going on in your life, at some moment you are going to get out of there and see the true reality of life. This book is related to the quote because Frederick Douglas was living in big time of darkness, furthermore he thought that being a slave was normal. However he had the hope of get out the slave system and be free.
